Nat Mur

I've just been prescribed nat mur for bloating, fluid retention and other issues but reading through the posts some people say that it increases weight - is this correct. Also would someone try to tell me that after taking stramonium my weight seems to have gone in an upward movement although I'm not eating any different and exercising.
If you can answer my two questions I would be most pleased

Hi,
About Natrum Muriaticum, it's indicated to treat excesive lose of weight ans tendency to deshisdratation. In consecuence, if you take, you can experiment this benhealth effects. To balance this effects, you can change your habit of eating: eat more vegetables, more fruit, and less meat and fats, less sugar, etc..
About Stramonium, in my Materia Medica there are no symtoms relationed with this weight increment. But as stramonium acts on the Nervous system, can relax your digestive system, specially your stools and that can increase your weight temporarely.

Are you saying that nat mur helps you lose excess weight/fluid? I never put salt on my food and I do eat lots of veg and fruit.
With regard to stramonium I took it at the beginning of January and since then have taken cantharis due to a dose of bad cystitis. Should stramonium be out of my system now?

What are you trying to achieve. Weight loss, I'm not sure.

No but I don't want to put weight on but I'm holding a lot of fluid at the moment which I'm not sure if it is hormonal issues or something else. I just don't seem to be getting rid of fluid and last month I only had 4 days free of pmt symptoms before all the bloating and sore breasts started - so that was uncomfortable for me. Does this help?

what is pmt? we need to look to the brain-kidney axis.
You seem to be a hydrogenoid type. Does water and moisture aggravate any symptoms?

PMT pre menstrual tension - all the usual symptoms before my period comes.
No water and moisture seems to help - especially baths which help my eyes - have allergies.
What is a hydrogenoid type and can you explain brain-kidney axis please

Dear Hammy:
Sorry by this misunderstanding. I want to say: If you have lost weight by deshidratation or by another cause, you can gain weight taking Nat. Mur.
In other hand, common salt is not the same as Natrum Mur. because first one is not homeopathized and don't produce the symptoms as the Nat Mur remedy.
As well, sometimes, if you eat a lot of vegetables, containing a lot of fibre, then you can store water in your stool, helped by the fibre.
About Stramonium, I can't find any symptom in the Materia Medica related with cystitis. May be used in fever, but not in cystitis.
Finally, Nat Mur is used sometimes in fertility problems and in hormonal problems.

Thanks for that - I haven't lost weight with dehydration but think homeopath was prescribing it to help me get rid of fluid - would it help alleviate fluid retention?

Dear Hammy:
It's very possible this is the reason to take Nat. Mur.
If you have fluid retention, then it's very possible you have an hormonal imbalance. I think your homeopath can help you repertorizing all your symtoms and prescribing to you the remedy with relation to all your symptoms.
It's very danger to prescribe for an hormonal imbalance without valoration of the another symptoms around.
Good luck

Saw homeopath last week and told him about the bloating and hormonal issues so presume this has all been taken into account.
Is nat mur safe to take and what sort of aggravation would I expect to see and will it upset my salt levels in my body as I know salt is supposed to make you retain fluid?

Dear hammy:
Nat Mur is safe to take but it must be indicated for your symptoms.
You can find the pathology of Nat. Mur in homeoint.org web page. Type in search box Natrum muriaticum and read.
Don't worry. If your homeopath controls your medication, the unexpected symptoms will be the least.
Good luck
Andres
