suffocating cough...urgent

My husband is not smoking since last 15 years but prior that he has smoked for 25 years. When he stopped smoking it was not on due to any health problem. Now he has cough with chest congestion. Sometimes at least 5 to 6 times in a day he find it difficult to cough and due to that he suffocates and cannot breathe for brief span of time.
I feel Spongia Toast is right remedy for him as he has other symptoms also like watering eyes, excessive thirst and hunger, he clears his throat often.
Few years back he has gone in for x-ray of chest and it has shown some black spot in one of his lungs.
On 23rd December 2006 I have given him 1 dose of Bacillinum 200 as he had chronic cold and I repeated same dose on 3rd Feb. 2007 for the same problem. This suffocating cough started after this 2nd dose.
Please suggest whether spongia toast is right medicine and if so in what dose I should give him. If not please suggest some right medicine.
Thanks a lot.

This is just a forum. Assume posts are not from medical professionals.
Keeping in view the chest congesion symptom I think that Antim.Tart.30 and Ippecoc 30 will be useful for him and thereafter you can take spongia.

Thanks a lot Dr. Mahfooz, but I have already given him 2 doses of spongia 30 since morning as I could not see him suffering and he appears better. Now what do you suggest for further course of action. Please advise urgently as I plan to give him 3rd dose at night. Thanks once again.
