concept of hot and cold remedies

Could someone explain the concept in relevance to individual?

This is just a forum. Assume posts are not from medical professionals.
every remedy has a certain modality of action in changes of temperature.

hot remedies are those which get agravated by hot weather. they are most suitable to hot persons, that is people who like to stay in cold conditions. the same goes for cold remedies. for constitutional remedies, the overall feeling of the individual should match to that of the modality of the constitutional remedy.

for single symptoms, the modality of the symptoms should match to that of the drug.

broadly, you can catagorise remedies into three classes,

- hot aggrvation
- cold aggravation
- hot and cold aggravation

If in summers a person gets sour throats with cold water will that person be regarded as cold...

in this case it has nothing to do with the person..

its a single symptom with a modality and so the remedy for it should ideally have the same modality..eg. worse cold applications.

only in cases of constitutional remedies, the remedy modality shall match the personality type.

Many persons are in a neutral zone, and they can neither be called as hot persons nor cold persons.

However if a person is decidedly chilly or hot, it is a great help to the physician in narrowing down the probable remedies.

One should take the thermal picture into account only when it is clear and unambiguous. Otherwise we run the risk of not considering the appropriate remedy, if we eliminate medicines by depending on doubtful thermal modalities.

Pulsatilla might be worth a try - IF other symptoms agree, of course. (Also Arsenic - with the same caveat, of course. ;)
