dementia and restlessness

My aunt is 83 years old. Because of age she seems to be forgetting things and cannot remember people or facts. She cannot sit in a place for a long time and gets very restless. We know this stage cannot be avoided but is there something which would pacify her restlessness?
I would like help her.

Hmm, 'Dr' Deoshlok.

Do you not think a 200c potency, three times a day for a month as a palliative measure is a little excessive?

I would agree the patients treatment at such a ripe old age should be almost exclusively palliative, but to apply a 200c this frequently and for this long, is only going to result in a proving, something I've been made very much aware of many times when tidying up the prescribing methods of others.

Thank you Dr. Deoshlok. Could I start with argentum nitricum 30 before I give her 200c? Or you would want me to give her 200 potency only. She is very frail.

Dear Mohini.

Personally I would start as low as a 6, and administer 3 times daily for just one week, then review the situation. This is standard practice with all palliation, especially for those at such a ripe old age/level of frailty. We are trying to ease the patients suffering, not finish her off by steaming in with a 200 three times a day for a month. The actual remedy selection though, I cannot comment on. It is one of many which may be indicated for such a condition, and more information would be required to ensure the best fit for the case.

Thank you JC2006. My aunt is old so thought of not starting with a very high dose. I know this problem cannot be solved but if we are able to pacify her anxiety and restlessness, it would not only help her but her family members as well.
Would you say that we start with 6c and then increase to 30c? The dosage being 3 times a day. But dont we continue the medication? Her condition might come back again. Or we give it for just one week and if the symptoms reoccur then we give it again for one week?
Could you just clear this?
Thank you, would appreciate a quick response.

I would give the remedy in a 6c three times per day for one week and then stop (obviously stopping before this should there be any aggravation or other problems).
If there has been improvement, then you have one of two options: 1/.leave it for some weeks, before moving up to the 30c, or sooner if things have drastically relapsed. or 2/. wait until things relapse and then give another short course of the 6c. This choice of course depends greatly on her reaction to the remedy, and how frail she actually is.

I would not apply a 30c more than twice a day (morning and night) for longer than three days, as a course, if you choose this option. I would also not go above a 30c without professional advice in someone so old, in fact a 12c would be even better if you have access to this.

The remedy may be prescribed as short courses in this way, for as long as it provides relief, but should be stopped if ther are any problems.

I must also state again that I am only advising on dosage, I have not taken the case so cannot comment on the choice of remedy.
