blocked tear duct in almost 3 year old

My son will be 3 in May. He has had a blocked tear duct since birth. It is good during the summer but during the fall/winter it drains all the time. It is usually clear but can sometimes get yellow. The opthamologist says surgery may not be effective at his age now. Is there anything I can try?

It is his left eye only. He never complains of pain. The drainage is usually clear but occasionally becomes cloudy or pale yellow. When it is pale yellow the corner of his eye will become slightly pink but there is still no complaint of pain. The eye usually runs water all day. It is dried on his lashes in the mornings but the lids are never stuck together. The symptoms go away during the summer then return during the fall/winter. He was recently on an oral antibiotic for a cold and the eye quit draining completely. Usually when he has a cold or ear infection the eye becomes worse.

The matter is serious. Please dont take it lightly. the intermittent closure means that for some reason the nasolacrimal duct gets blocked and then it opens up. clear water means no infection and yellow discoloaration means infection.the problem can be in the nose or in the sinus. please persue it and dont leave it as such. i am sure homeopathy can have some remedycheck it up from some authority about silicea or rhus tox. thanks

KHATTAK-Thanks for your reply. He was seen by an ENT at a very early age because of recurrent ear infections. He had to have ear tubes at 6 months old. The doctor then felt his problems were all allergy related. We have tried him on Zyrtec and Claridin but they both make him very irritable. I would love to find something that would work for him. We leave in NC so I feel that his eye begins to act up at the very time allergy season begins in this area.

when the discharges will become pale yellow and cloudy, give her some doses of PULSATILLA 200C at 4 hours interval till you see an improvement in the symptom.

this will take care of her eye problem.
