Do I really have Neuralgia??

Hi everyone. I'm a 26 year old Male, and I've been dealing with intense headaches centralized always in the same location above my left ear, for over 2 1/2 years now. These headaces are EXTREMELY intense, but only last about 5-15 seconds each time. Sometimes they happen only a couple times a day, sometimes 2 -3 times a minute or more. I also have some upper back and neck pain, with both my neck and back frequently cracking, which leads me to believe the two issues are related. My doctor recently suggested I might have some form of trigeminal or atypical neuralgia, and put me on something called carbamazapine. It seems to help a little bit, the headaches are still there, but they seem more mild...Although everything seems mild on this medication since its kind of mood-altering...Any opinions? Do I really have Neuralgia?? Thanks to all who take the time.
