Sylvestre
Sylvestre-Gymnema sylvestre is blood sugar control herbs.
A member of the milkweed family, Gymnema sylvestre is native to the tropical regions of India. Nicknamed of sylvestre the 'sugar destroyer' because the leaves effectively block sweet tastes in the mouth when chewed, the herb is often promoted as an appetite suppressant and weight-loss agent. This claim has no evidence to support it, however. In fact, the capsules sold for this purpose don't even alter the taste in a person's mouth--the leaves need to be chewed directly for this purpose.
In the case of the far more prevalent type 2 diabetes--also known as noninsulin-dependent diabetes--research findings indicate that the use of gymnema Sylvestre may improve blood sugar control and result in the need for smaller doses of oral diabetes drugs to control the disease. However, sylvestre critical that people with this disease don't abandon proven ways to manage sylvestre, from a healthy diet to regular exercise and medications when needed.

Gymnema sylvestre is an Indian herb used Ayurveda, the ancient Hindi medicine system of India. Also referred to as Gurmarbooti, gurmar, periploca of the woods in English and meshasringi (meaning “ram’s horn”) in Sanskrit, it is a woody climbing plant that grows in the tropical forests of central and southern India. The leaves are used in herbal medicine preparations, which, when chewed, interfere with the ability to taste sweetness, which explains the Hindi name gurmar—“destroyer of sugar.” Gymnema sylvestre’s primary application was for adult-onset diabetes (NIDDM), a condition for which sylvestre continues to be recommended today in India. The leaves were also used for stomach ailments, constipation, water retention, and liver disease.
Gymnema has been used traditionally in India for centuries and has been shown in research to support healthy glucose metabolism by mediation of insulin release and activity and enhancement of healthy pancreatic function. Gymnema Sylvestre extract is standardized to 25% gymnemic acids, the same concentration used in clinical research.
Modern uses Gymnema Sylvestre:
Human and animal studies confirm that Gymnema Sylvestre has pronounced effects on blood sugar, at least among diabetics. Within the past two decades researchers have determined that Gymnema Sylvestre extracts may even play a role in the treatment of Type I diabetics, who typically need daily injections of insulin to control the disease. Gymnema Sylvestre taken orally lowers diabetics' blood glucose levels and improves blood fat and cholesterol profiles.

This is just a forum. Assume posts are not from medical professionals.
The biggest problem with this herb is the unpredicted effect upon blood glucose. Effect is never consistant.
