Recurring Urinary Tract Infections

I have a kidney stone which may be causing my recurring UTIs. This has been going on for about 2 years. I was on antibiotics every 6 weeks for 6 months. Then I took an antibiotic every time I had intercourse for a year. I really don't like to take antibiotics, so I stopped. After about 6 months, I got another (VERY BAD) UTI which responded to cantaris (I took 30C every few hours for 7 days). Mild symptoms have been returning every 10 days, then go away when I take a Cantharis 30C. It's been 8 weeks since the last bad infection, and I have another severe one which began yesterday (thursday) morning. I took a Cantharis 30C at 10am and a Cantharis 1M at 10pm. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated. My two main concerns are getting rid of the kidney stone and preventing future infections. BTW, my symptoms are a perfect fit to cantharis. I can give specifics, if needed.

This is just a forum. Assume posts are not from medical professionals.
some questions on renal calculi:

- which kidney is having the stone.

- do you have any pains in the kidney region any time.

- do u have pain in your bladder region before, during or after urination.

- whats the colour of your urine, is it bloody at times.

- do you have to strain for long to start urination.

what other physical and mental symptoms do you have.

I think Solidago Q 20 drops after every 2 hours in a little water will help you in UTI also expelling calculi.

Thank you both for your responses.

Mahfoozurrehman - I'll look into the Solidago Q. Had never heard of that one before.

Rishimba:

- stone is in right kidney
- have never had kidney pain except 3 months ago with the horrible UTI...pain was on left side...cantharis helped.
- bladder pain is before urination, then radiates down the urethra during and after urination. at the beginning of an infection, the bladder pain doesn't go away until after I've taken Cantharis and waited 24-48 hours.
- urine is never bloody, not cloudy. at the beginning of an infection, it is concentrated b/c I often get infections after being dehydrated.
- never have to strain to start urination.
- physically tired, exhausted. mentally depressed, unmotivated.

Thanks again!

please take BERBERIS VULGARIS-Q some 10 to 15 drops every 4 to 6 hours.

this will help you in both of your ailments.
if berb fails,
other remedies you can try are solidago-q or lycopodium 6c to be taken every 4 to 6 hours.

Thank you so much. Now I have a few more questions about homeopathy (since I've only been using it for about a year).

Is solidago virg. aur. the same thing as solidago Q?
Both of you stated that I should use 'drops'. Do you mean 'pellets', or do you mean for me to purchase some type of liquid solution? I've only used the pellets (under the tongue) in the past.

What is the reason for putting the drops in water (as recommended by dr. mahfooz)?

Since the stone has been present in my kidney for a long time, how will I know when to stop taking the remedy? Should I do it for 6 months and then get an MRI to see if the stone has reduced in size? Thus far, I have only taken the remedies when I have symptoms, but the stone itself doesn't cause me any pain.

In a previous posting, someone had recommended cantharis followed by one dose of sulphur for UTI. I've never heard of changing the remedy at the end like that. Do you know why this was recommended, and do you recommend it?

I am VERY grateful for your help :)

yes, solidago Q is the crude form of solidago virgauria.

you will get the mother tincture in the liquid form only, that why it has been suggested to use drops instead of pellets.

the reason for putting the drops in water is to ensure that all the remedy is absorbed by the lining of the mouth. water is just a solvent.

take the remedy on a continuous basis and then after 6 months you can go for a MRI.

SULPHUR covers UTI symptoms as far as the itching and burning is concerned but has no direct relationship to cantharis.

you may or may not take it.

if the symptoms get cured with cantharis itself, i dont think there is any need to take any other remedy.

I really appreciate the comments and reply of my learned colleague dr. rishimba. Let me say that BERBERIS VULGARIS-Q is as good as solidago but if both are used will give better and quick response.
I hope and believe that using these medicine continuously you can see the result after within month or two. and six months are too much time.
