Dear Nawaz Bhai,

I have anal fissure and anal fistula. I think it resulted from constipation as i had low fibre diet and practically no exercise. But for the last 2 months i have changed the diet etc.
I noticed Blood, one or two drops only from the anus. I visited a gastro and he prescribed me laxative and Flagyl for 10 days. Initially ok but now i feel things are not ok.

I am presently taking flagyl & laxative for 5 more days. 2 days over. I have been also applying 0.2% nitroglycerene on the anus area for last 20 days.

I look forward to receive your valuable advice. My age is 45 and my weight is 78 kgs. There is no other medical problem till date.

Please inform if i can meet you personally. which city do you live in???

Background, 57 yr old male suffering fissures + fistula 19yrs. 2 fissure surgeries, second one found a previously undiagnosed fistula.

I was never right after either surgery, the 1st had no bleeding but some discomfort until it tore again, the 2nd common pain and bleeding but not the BIG pain I had before both surgeries. The Dr was in total denial that there was anything wrong with me... now 4 yr later I'm as bad as ever.

New development, I've started using hemmoridal suppositories and this may or may not be connected but I'm noticing something I've never seen before after a bowel movement, a stringy floating 'thing'... the one today was the largest and most well defined/disturbing... about 4-5 inches long, about .18-.25 inch in diameter, looks like a blood vessel? maybe the contents of a fistula being expelled? Some whitish streaks and small dark nodules along the length of it? I'm taking this to the Dr because it is not right. Any ideas? I have no good luck with doctors on a variety of issues... the only colo-rectal surgeon in the area is the one who did my last surgery and I will never let him touch me again.

currently I feel full of worry over the suggestion of surgery. when I see blood on tissue (especially without BM) I feel panicked, warm and sweaty for a minute.
I'm aiming to be positive and brave. I do feel slightly angry this is happening to me but I'm beginning to process it positively.
I work with the public and am mostly fine with them... sometimes when worrying I am 'short' with them.
I am mostly full of love, I am generally positive.

I saw a holistic care provider today who prescribed the following:
silicea 30c (3 pellets under tongue 1x day 10 days)
ginseng (10 drops 1x day 10 days)
spearmint oil (applied to lower intestine reflex area of left foot 1x day 7 days)

I bought a juicer today.

I aim to increase water intake to a minimum of 48oz each day which is more than double my current intake.

today there is fresh red blood on tissue without having a BM. unsure if pus is present today.

will your remedy suggestions be ok with the remedies I list above per the care provider? I will add them if so.
thank you.

Pus is present today, seems more activity with some blood and pus than I noticed until last restroom trip. Rectum feels achy.

No

thank you.
so far, no blood on tissue today, abscess is currently draining some pus (pale yellowish) and area is achy.
I feel super fearful and worried, weak legs. I've eaten healthier today but probably not enough. can you suggest foods that are good to ingest while trying to promote drying out of abscess & possible fistula? what foods to be avoided? I really want to try and reverse this issue without feeling surgery is last resort.

also
you say not to start your suggested remedies during local holistic provider's suggestions. thank you. what do you think of his suggestions, I'm curious?
thank you

Wrong remedies.

Diet/food suggestions?

Since local holistic tested remedies in person will try atleast... Abscess aches less this evening and is actively draining... I'm keeping clean and will visit other remedies after.

I'm really interested in what I can/can't and should/shouldn't be eating.

Also someone recommended wiping with colloidal silver, ever heard of this?
Thank you for your time and information. Bless.

Dear All,

I've used all the remedies stated here since Nov 2012 and the conditions did improved. But it will not clear up the issues. I even tried using Joe's method which was stated many years ago at the anal fissure/fistula thread, antibiotic ointment after every BM as indicated and it did cleared up the infection.

But it will not clear up the unlying conditions, meaning that I will need to keep maintaining treatment to prevent another infection of the fistula.

After trying out the treatment for 8 months. I've decided to get a surgery done on 15 July 2013. The surgery is painless and quick (20 Mins). It has been months since and the wound has already been closed up. I have a picture showing the fistula tract that was being taken out for biopsy. After looking at the picture, I understand why surgery is needed to treat a fistula and why medication cannot really help in solving it.

Just look at the amount of infected tissues that made up the fistula tract. And mine is a very tiny fistula and I hardly have any serious drainage come out from it. But the actual tract underneath the skin is not so tiny as it seems. No amount of medications can really help in taking away these bad infected tissues, not even with powerful antibiotics like flagyl or fleming.

If the fistula is not treated properly and keep getting infected. Secondary tracts may be create and you will have a harder time treating them. Secondary tracts do cross over muscle from a very simple fistula. Good luck everyone in getting this dreadful disease treated. I've attached a picture of my fistula tract, just look at the amount of infected tissues involved and do you think you can take this away with some simple medications?

thanks for sharing that info anon2013.

I have put my surgery on hold. I do not have leave at work and am not sure how to stay in business to heal. How long has your recovery been? How long until you went back to work. I've been reading so much about surgery and follow up after follow up, people not healed in months time and out of work for as long. I am disinterested in treating this surgically over and over for years to come.

I am on a strong antibiotic and some homeopathic remedies that seem to be having a good effect. I still have little to no pain, pus has mostly stopped but I'm depressed and feel anxious.

I am looking into getting the remedies available that nawazkhan suggested last week. But nawazkhan I have a question about the remedies... what if I only have abscess and no fistula? The doc wants to do surgery to see if is fistula. Will the remedies be effective for abscess if not fistula?

Also, I'm anxiously awaiting info from anyone about food. Foods to avoid (I know pizza and junk food) but what foods might exaggerate this, what foods might promote and encourage healing as I go along?

Thanks again! Bless.

inpainindamembrane last decade
Hi inpainindamembrane,

I was in denial as well previously thinking that medications can really clear off the infection and heal the fistula. I was wrong all along after trying the remedies for 8 months. If it does not cure and simply does the maintenance then it defeats all the purpose.

I figured out that this is not the way to live life. Living with constant infections and have to worry about what are the food to avoid. I can drink beer now and also eat pork or any red meat.

The surgery is not as scary as all the opinions that you have read here. I was out of work for a week and there are minimum discharge. 4 weeks post surgery and wound closes up almost like 95%.

If there is a hard lump underneath the skin that would not go away. A tiny fistula is almost confirmed. And bear in mind that mine was just very tiny fistula with no external openings and no discharge. I can actually ignore it but risk getting re-infection into multiple tracts. I've seen people who chose not to get a simple fistula treated and now he have multiple tracts that crosses over muscles. Needed many surgeries and setons for a simple fistula converted into multiple tracts.

Before surgery, I can only have BMs at home so that I can take sitz baths and antibiotic ointments to keep the infection in control. Which is such a big inconvenience. I can now do BMs in my office toilets and just wash off with a bidet. Just make the right decision and hope that you get this thing off your life and move forward.

I have been trying to avoid surgery and hoping some advice can help me. I had an abscess that was lanced and drained in Jan 2013 and still oozes puss and blood out of the lanced hole, some days worse than others. A while back when i put press on it, it would drain out my Anus. That stopped about 2 months ago, does it mean its healing (slowly but surely). The hole feels about 1'x 0.5'. I eat very well (no gluten and dairy). Take supplements, exercise, get lots of fresh air but still not healed. Help?!!
I have heard silicea6x works, do I take that?

Lemifi last decade
Hi Lemifi,

Surgery must never be an option as it is only a local solution just for the time being. It comes back later. Because, the root cause is still there.

'I have heard silicea6x works, do I take that?'
