Ear Infections

I'm new to this website & am sure you get lots of postings on here about ear infections but am in need of some help. My 16 month old son has been having constant ear infections for the last 9 months. It always starts with a runny nose & then a couple of days later he has an ear infection. The doctor always prescribes antibiotics but if my son still have the runny nose by the time the antibiotics have gone then it is guarenteed we will be back at the doctors a few days later & he still has the infection. I have been reading up on the internet about xylitol products that could help, especially a nasal spray that contains it called xlear nasal spray. Has anyone used this product, or do you know of anything natural I could use instead of antibiotics all of the time. Thanks
