cat with difficulty urinating

my cat who is about 5 years old is sitting in a huddled position and goes into a spraying mode but nothing comes out. I palpated his bladder and it seems full. He also vocalizes when I pick him up. I just noticed this today. I have a feeling he may be blocked. can anyone recommend something to unblock him without me having to take him to the vet?

This is just a forum. Assume posts are not from medical professionals.
Try Aconite 30 once a day for 3 days.
Next medicine is Gelsemium 30.

If he is blocked he needs to go to the vets NOW!! You could still try the recommended remedies, but he doesn't have three days to 'wait'.

Thank you all for your helpful advice. I did take him to the vet later in the day as I was too scared of the consequences if he were to remain blocked for more than a day. The vet removed a urethral plug.. no crystals were seen but urinalysis revealed hematuria. The vet put him on a one week course of CRYSTAID. My cat looks better now but urine is still not flowing freely and he doesn't have an apetite. I plan to give him a dose of aconitum tonight and then for two more days. Is there anything else you would recommend?
