meaning of some remedy reactions ?

Hi, can someone explain to me what some of the reactions to remedies mean. After Thuja the patient has episodes of high fevers lasting one day each. After Medorrh the patient has feeling of heat/burning above left knee. Staph causes dreams of being pursued at night. Are all these just proving reactions? If they are, then why aren't all of them found under the
remedy provings? Or are they the vital force's way of calling for another remedy?
