Suggestions RE; Nexium versus apple cider vinegar with baking soda

Because of GERD, I have taken Nexium for close to 15 years. I have heard that apple cider vinegar in 8 ounces of water mixed with 1 tablespoon of baking soda can be used instead of Nexium, with good results. Has anyone tried this and , if so, what were the results. Did you stop taking the Nexium all at once or did you taper off. If so, what was the procdure? Thanks.
