Anxiety & Anxiety attacks- lycopodium made worse! | From justagirl [Log on to view profile] | on 2008-05-05 |

I hope someone can help me. I thought I found the exact match for my picture as it is now. I took Lycopodium for recent anxiety attacks that have been debilitating me... but it's made me worse!
I already have tachycardia and after the dose my resting heart rate shot up to another 20 beats per minute.
I have history of social anxiety and anticipitory anxiety. One side of family has a lot of mental illness.
I was a very shy child. Grew out of it, but then after terrifying things in my family's household I began getting anxiety attacks by about age 20.
The anxiety/panic attacks eventually stopped, but I was left with a lot of anxiety.
I cannot remember having panic attacks since I was in early 20's. They just started again recently. With the same trigger that made me have the attacks in my 20's.
I am so embarrased by it. I don't want anyone to see me as weak. I'm trying so hard to hide it.
The attacks are triggered by running into someone I know. I am okay with strangers but not if I run into someone I know or even a friend of a friend. I know it sounds ridiculous and it is, but I can't seem to stop it. Once I spot someone I know, I immediatly have a feeling like a surge rush through my body (adrenaline?) I then cannot breathe, and flush. I hate this! I am now getting afraid to go anywhere, run errands, even affecting me at work now. I know how irrational it is. but since I know the trigger, I am so afraid to have a panic attack in front of someone (which I did around last summer and it's been down hill since then.
When the attacks started at age 20, my family was going through some aweful things. I didn't want anyone to know..we had to hide what was going on. there was so much shame. That's when my first attacks started... the same way, when I'd run into someone.
I cannot live like this. I have suffered enough with almost 20 yrs of anxiety, but these attacks are terrifying and debilitating. why would they reappar after almost 20 yrs?
I was recently diagnosed with subclinical hypothyroid. As a result I am 20lbs over my normal weight ( i was very naturally thin all my life-till now). I have lost so much hair, it is thin all over now and scraggly looking. I am treating the hypothyroid only with kelp tablets.
I also have mitral valve prolapse (some dr's say related to panic attacks). I have tachycardia (I think from the anxiety I suffer from). (lycopodium made resting heart rate another 20 beats faster per minute).
I took my first dose of lycop 30ch Apr 30th. 1.5 days later I was cured of my fear of these attacks! BUT- I also took one dose of medication from the dr. the night before I was cured for one day. I know I shouldn't have but i was desperate. I never felt relief again.
I waited but since no relief from dr's meds or lycop. I followed with another dose of lycop. 30ch may 3 (late night). today.. I didn't think I would get through the day. My anxiety was through the roof. I could not think clearly at all. I had to keep checking and rechecking if I did something or not. my heart rate was extra 20beats per minute. (from anxiety or lycop?).
I felt so confident that day I felt no fear. Makes me wonder- am I having anxiety from lack of confidenc? or having lack of confidence from the anxiety? I think it may be more the latter.
I am very irritable right now, I think it's from how mad and upset I am with all of this. I hate myself for being like this. Why should i be such a weakling.
I would REALLY REALLY Appreciate some expert advice and help!
Thanks! |

Forgot to mention I had VERY disturbing dreams last night (after lycop dose).
Also, I am someone who startles easily. Tend to be chilly. I will not eat and have never eaten seafood (major aversion to it).
I am really a kind person, but don't think people know this. I am very misunderstood, probably from my protective shyness and my attempts to hide this from everyone. I don't let anyone close to me anymore.
My seaches for remedies keep coming up a little different. The latest one recommended Baryta Carb 1st.

Not a good idea to self diagnose, however I'm here to help not critisise. First you may be having a cure crisis, this happens when the correct remedy is taken, so DON'T take anymore, because if its the right remedy you will feel better very soon. Energy medicine is not the same as taking drugs it works differently. So leave things for a week and see what may occur. You are not weak, trhings happen to us all we are not prepared for and it only takes a small thing to trigger a relapse, we can't control that but the right remedy will. I can see another remedy that may benefit but its too soon to tell. Come back in a week and give your entire case. Don't worry.

I couldn't take how i was feeling so out of desperation i took a composition remedy at bedtime last time (1 dose) with: stramonium 3DH, hyoscyamus 3DH, passiflora 3DH, ballota 3DH, nux moschata 4ch and this am composition (1 dose): Anacardium, cina, coffea, gelsemium, kalium bromatum, kalium phos all 7ch.
I should have waited I guess in case you are right about a cure crisis. But I was so desperate. I hope if it was going to cure, I didn't anti-dote.

I can understand your impatience, but having taken so many remedies, no one knows which has helped, or not, to repeat it. Best wishes. | This thread continues beneath the following ad.

nothing helped. for today, i am out of the anxiety attack provoking situations. So I can relax a bit. After I left work yesterday (dealt with a few triggers and anxiety attacks through the day) I was so upset but could not cry, and so angry. I am hating myself now.

will it help slow down my heart? Since I took the lycopodium have faster heart and little pains in the area. Maybe i need to stop the action of the lycopodium (read it's long acting).
If you think ignatia will help, what dose?
thanks Sajjad! | | |

not just the fast heart and pains there since lycop. but also more anxious ! I'm even more worried now, i've worked myself into a basket case or it could just be the lycop.

what do you think of some of the remedies I found? I am so exhausted from all this anxiety anticipation etc. I cannot relax and the heart pain is concerning me.
the remedies I was thinking of are: phos acid, lachesis, aconite, ars album and phophorus.

hi, i too am suffering from anxiety. Im afraid of being amongst people, especially my friends, maybe because I'm depressed too. I was going to give phos. a try but i'm not familiar with homeopathy... | This thread continues beneath the following ad.

Hi Brick, I'm sorry you are going through these problems too, I obviously know how hard it is. I though lycopodium was my exact match, but it made me feel 100x worse than I was already feeling. I finally found some relief from Arsenicum album 30ch. I feel much better now, not cured yet, but a lot better. I hope this may help you. Phos is also one on my list while researching as well as aconite, and ignatia as Sajjad recommends. I never feel phos is right for me as I actually like thunderstorms and phos doesn't like them.
It's amazing... when I feel so frazzled and nervous for no apparent reason, my confidence is totally gone. and I think I must be lacking confidence completely, but when i feel relaxed and fears aren't as strong, all of a sudden i am a confident and happy person. I just need to change my makeup to be relaxed... hopefully with the help of homeopathy!
I hope this will help you to!

Hi,
My anxiety sounds exactly like yours.
Ignatia has helped me tremendously and I believe Sajaad suggested it to you.
I'm still working on the right potency, but it has helped enormously!
I went from waking up with debilitating anticipatory anxiety every morning before work, to just feeling a few flutters that leave quickly.
Also, how old are you? I found that when I came close 40 (I'm now 42)hormonal shifts seemed to cause some of the anxiety, especially in the morning.
I remember reading in one of my homeopathy books that ignatia was also good for hormone related issues.
Please homeopaths correct me if I'm wrong.
Anyway, best of luck! I know how debilitating it is. Don't give up!

have you looked at gelsemium as an individual remedy to try
| Re: Anxiety & Anxiety attacks- lycopodium made worse! | From justagirl [Log on to view profile] | on 2008-05-11 |
I know lots of people have anxiety and panic attacks, but I really thought i'm the only "weird" person who has them under the circumstances that I do. I wish I just had say a fear of spiders. I know I dont really fear people, just having an attack in front of people... which in turn causes it to happen.
Yes, I am getting close to 40 and the panic attacks have not happened since 1st one's around age 20. So maybe it has something to do with it.
I have tried gelsemium recently, but it didn't help. It had helped in the past with my "regular" anxiety, not the intense anxiety now with attacks. Even argentum used to help with my anxiety, but not now. so far the only help i've found with my current condition is arsenicum. Haven't tried the aconite for my recent problems yet either.
Thanks for everyone's input!

Aconite is a remedy of shock, works well in the first ten minuites. Arsenicum serves better for long term anxiety as you have found. But don't take it too often.

The arsenicum has helped, but I find the next I keep needing to take another dose for relief. How often is too often?
I need something to relax me so an attack wont happen, maybe I can take aconite before hand if I feel one is likely.
Thanks for suggestions!

What potency? 30c daily should be ok. 9ARs lasts for 60-90 days)But it would seem you are not getting to the root of your problem and are suppressing. A correct remedy will increase your anxiety for a while, unfortunatly, discomfort for a while is the norm, how long it will last for can't be foreseen.

yes i am taking 30c (have 200c but haven't taken this dose yet).
Maybe lycopodium was right remedy if I'm supposed to get worse, but symptoms were not tolerable. it became scary, especially with the racing heart, palpitaions and heart pains. i really felt i was going to lose control and also have a heart attack.
maybe lycop is still working in me.?
| Re: Anxiety & Anxiety attacks- lycopodium made worse! | From parachute [Log on to view profile] | on 2008-05-12 |
Maybe Lyc was but......
Here's what I suggest, you take Lyc 30c again, but put in a glass full of water, stirr it (if pills, disolve first) and throw it away, untill only a few drops remain, fill glass with water again, NOT with LYC in it. Fill and empty glass another six times, on the seventh take a mouth full, NO more. Wait for reaction. This is an LM (partial anyway) to try to get some relief. Use Aconite if you feel you can't take it no more, but ONLY as a last resort OK?
Best
