Laryngitis and not able to breath
My 7 yrs old boy has a tendency to get laryngitis when sick.It is something terrible! He wakes up himself saying that he cannot breath. This is mostly during the night.
The symptoms are:
The voice is hoarse, when he coughs it is like a dog is barking, you can hear his breathing because it it difficult, the boy says there is a lump in the throat.
Last night I gave homepathy for the first time. He barked for the first time at midnight and I gave Ferr Phos 30.
Then he was swallowing more because of the lump at 3 am and I gave him Acon 1 M and Spongia 1 M.
At 6 he had the same and I repeated Acon 1 M and Spongia 1 M again.
I feel there was no help of these. Well, this time he did not wake up saying he cannot breath, but there was no improvement either.
Now it is 7 am and I think his condition is still the same. Please help me!

- since what age is he suffering, how often he gets it, what triggers it off, what circumstances, what season, what time, what position? frequency? duration? severity- describe how it starts, progresses and ends.
- how is the cough, sputum?
- fever? how is it?
- tongue? coating? taste?
- thirst?
- sleep? nature? awakening in between? position? dreams? talking/ walking? bedwetting?
- feels comfortable in cold/ warm?
- covering? in sleep and other wise?
- likes and dislikes in food and drinks?
- any changes in health during these attacks?
- child otherwise as a person, his nature and temperament? his anger, fear, emotions, intellect, likes and dislikes
- all other complaints he has or suffered inpast
- illnesses in family
- mother's health and state of mind during pregnancy and latter.

- He has had laryngitis since he was a baby. He was better when he turned 4 yrs, but this winter the symptoms have come back. He has had laryngitis twice during last 3 months. It used to be a winter problem, but now it is almost summer!
- What triggers it out... I don't know. I guess coryza? It is a virus.
Yesterday he came home from school with a hoarse voice and with mild temperature.
Now he has fever (at night 38,5 and now 37.7) and the voice is hoarse. He says there is something in the throat, I don't know if it is discharge or a lump. Probable both.
- Normally laryngitis is at its worse during the first night after falling sick. It appears very fast. He just wakes up barking and saying he cannot breath. Then you have to take him outside to cool air and after 5-10 minutes it helps. Sometimes you have to do this a couple of times at nights, sometimes only once.
- The tongue is white. No special taste in the mouth. He has no thirst and drinks only little when I tell to.
Now the generalities:
- He mostly sleeps at his back. Normally he sleeps well and deeply. No dreams. Kicks off the blanket, wants to sleep without a pyjama even when very cold winter. Wakes up very early in the morning.
- Very target-orientated and brave for a 7 yrs old. Philosophical and always keeps asking why. Wants to know everything and looks historical series from tv. Outgoing and talkative and trustful. He obeys well and does not understand people who brake the rules.
- When he was 4-5 yrs old we had a lot of problem with him. He was strong willing and full of anger. He was just yelling for hours if he was angry. I guess these are still there... waiting to come up again...
- likes sports, likes to build everything. Dislikes what he has to do something he does not want to do.
- Eats everything and a lot. Prefers salty food.
- passes soft stool daily.
- tall, slim, blue eyes and blond hair.
- Keeps moving all the time and has trouble of sitting still. High energy level explains that partly.
- He feels warm even if it is cold. Dislikes a lot of heat.
- He has dry skin of eczema/dermatitis/atopic eczema. The skin is often itchy and needs lotion daily.
- When he was under 3 yrs he had an allergy of wheat. But now he can eat wheat.
And he still has skin problems like since he was a baby. Otherwise he is healthy.
He also used to suffer from nosebleeding, but one year ago I was able to cut it off with phosphorus.
When he gets a running nose, he keeps blowing his nose for months. Pulsatilla is the only thing to stop that.
- The pregnancy was fine and my state of mind was happy. I myselfe suffer from atopic skin and has a tendency to eczema, too. There is lots of asthma in the family (grand-parents). The father has no illnesses.

please give him PULSATILLA 30C some three or four doses at 3 to 4 hour interval during the episodes.
gradually, the episodes will become infrequent and less intense.
report after a month to check if an increase in potency is required for cut it off permanently.

I have been doing a lot of research of this and I find Pulsatilla a different kind of choise! I have read of Hepar sulphur and Ferr Phosphoricum - but not of Pulsatilla.
Please explain me, why you chose Pulsatilla. Do you think it is his constitution?

Why not give Pulsatilla as a constitutional remedy - 200 c once every 6 weeks a so?

Heureka! Something happened after he turned 4 yrs... I learned to know homeopathy. During last years his coryza has been treated with Pulsatilla 200 by a homeopath several times (because the coryza never stoppes without Puls).
This winter he has not had coryza like before. So he has not received Pulsatilla often. Only once during last year.
Do I still continue with Puls 30? I already gave him the first dose.

no problem in that... on the contrary its better to start with a low potency.
please give some 3 to 4 doses of 30c potency and then wait.

Good Morning,
The night was good, the fever went down. He even ate some breakfast, but is still unable to speak.
I looked at the throat: the tonsils are huuuuge. I've never seen that large tonsils. He also said that orangejuice was hurting the throat as there were wounds.
Now I know the story of this spesific sickness: on Tuesday he had mild temperature, but otherwise he was healthy. On Wednesday the school made a trip to the sea shore. It must have been windy and quite cool. He did not have anything around the neck. Normally he does not fall sick in these kind of situation, but this time I think that was the case.
Please confirm - do I give Pulsatilal 200 or something else?

One more thing: the boy wants to clear up his throat. I think there is mucus. But the throat is so sore that he is very careful.
