Learning Homeopathy

I have been totally inspired by homeopathy for the last 6 months, i Read books every day also on the website study different remedies.

I am so obsessed that I want to go to the next level and try and understand it even further, but I feel now that all I am doing is reading remidies but cannot find real life examples .

For eg case studies will help me learning it further.

Thanks

This is just a forum. Assume posts are not from medical professionals.
If u want to learn homeopathy seriously join an institution to get formal education at least of four years then go for house job. After this procedur involve urself in independent research.May be after that u could be able to understand homeopathy which is very vast and most scientific way of treatment.Little knowledge is dangerous in any field particularly medical.

Though what Dr.Tahira said is the best way to study homeopathy there are many 'lay' homeopaths like me who learnt 'a little' by self study , participating in forums like these, and above all with a 'true' love of homeopathy.

I believe that a person who wants to understand homeopathy should read 'Organon' first and understand it thoroughly. Then he should read Kent's philosophy.

After reading these two books one should try to understand the 'art' of case taking, selecting the remedy, how to choose a potency, how to administer a remedy, how to assess the action of a remedy and how to do follow up.

One should become conversant with miasms, intercurrent remedies, remedy relationships and should know how and when to apply these concepts.

Each topic needs deep study spanning a few months of serious reading and understanding.

Finally one should try to get acquinted with practicing homeopaths and 'probe' them with your 'doubts' which will be too many to start with. Forums can help here to some extant.

All this may take a dedicated study of more than six hours every day for atleast three years.

Once you feel confident about all the aspects of homeopathy listed above , one can start treating one's self for minor acute problems. Most likey you will fail initially. Learn from your mistakes by discussing with more knowledgable people/ by refering more books.

This is all easier said than done.

After reading all this you may think that what Dr.Tahira is suggesting is the easier way. :-)

After reading all this I am sure of one thing this is something I want to do,

The problem is I am a businessman, I am busy from 9-9 , very hectic schedule, But I take out time the whole day only for this forum, I go home read the books of homeopathy , that is the best couple of hours of the day.

I love this field because I want to help solve other problems , Its the greatest worship of God.

I am sure now due to time constraints I will never be able to become a complete homeopath. But I promise you I will never leave it.

I am sure with the giudance of mentors like Dr, Tahira and murthy and all the other regulars here.

But now I need ur guidance, Dr. Tahira are there any books you think i should read, which one at this stage? any Ideas as to where I might get them?

Murthy thanks for your recommendations I will look for these books.
thanks

Gumby,
During formal education we learn all the stuff Mr Murthy mentioned.Even surgery and Forensic medicine are must in final years.
Besides all this dedication is necessary.Apart syllabus i always took advantage of library books.
Every year many people get degree of homeopathic doctor but how many of them are practicing with true spirit or could satisfy their patients. There is difference between business and passion.
Regarding books u should study homeopathic philsophy and medicines side by side.
I agree with Mr Murthy that some lay men can have better knowldge by their vast study and strong observation power.

Hi all,

This is one thing I have been thinking of doing too. I'm a software engineer and currently have taken a break from work to take care of my son. But in the past 2 years, I have using homeopathy so much that it has become a obsession and want to study this subject and help people who are in need. I'm in the US and have looked at a couple of schools which provide 4 year homeopathic courses. But the problem with these courses are that they have classes only during the weekends and rest of the time, we have to study from home(like distance education). My question is will this kind of education help me become a good homeopath ? or is it necessary to goto full time schools to get the knowledge and experience ? I very badly want to change my field and want to do something I really love to do and this is the top one on my list :) Can anyone suggest some good homeopathic schools in the US, I'm right now in New jersey.

I read the whole book last night , but i have few questions, actually a lot of them

- It was suggested that a person has to be treated and not the disease. And the way of homeopathy is always looking at the symptoms of a person. and giving medicine.

What I fail to understand is that for example there are 2 people both of who are cold, feel thirsty and have a desire for sweet.

now one had liver infection and one has sneezing.

will both be treated by the same medicine?

I will ask my other question after a reply as all are linked to each other

thnaks

The thing that i am unclear about is , If a remedy is suggested by looking at the symptoms which were basically categorized in a few :-

mind state
thoughts
thirst
cold/ warm
general symptoms
etc etc

Now when a doctor is trying to search for a remedy, what is thaught process.

Is the pathological symptoms the main priority? i.e The above mentioned changes. Or is the disease where the problem is highlighted is also kept in mind.

I read that a disease is not cured. But the person is, so if a person has severe lung infection, will this be symptom? or a disease ? will the mere lung infections be kept in mind? or just the symptoms mentioned above on which basis Dr haneman categorized different remedies.

Please help me learn the thought process.

I hope to post as many queries as I can, please bear with me as many of the questions will be childish and immature. But this is a learning curve I have loss through and I hope you will help me

Firstly,

A remedy is always given to correct the weakness in the vital force. And it has nothing to do with the disease. However we normally do use the disease as a symptom, it is also a manefestation of a symptom.

Now when a person has takes a remedy sometimes even if it is not the right remedy for him, it helps him a bit and other symptoms appear. How can these be interpreted? Can the new remedy which is not the right one him, give ever lasting symptoms on the patient, or do the go by with the passage of time?

Also, there are many remedies which are given by studying the basic symptoms of a person and then advising him a remedy based on his personality and symptoms.
However, on many occasions there are remedies which are given for acute problems like leg pain due to over work, head pain due to lack of sleep. finger burn etc. How do these remedies work,

As the principle is that always the vital force deficiency causes the disease, but when a disease is not caused by that , how does homeopathy remedies work.

the concept of ' like for like' is based on symptoms in a patient and the remedy, but when acute problems mentioned above take place how is this principle applied.

thank you once again.
