Severe period pain

Need Some Help!!!

Forgot to mention in addition to having a pilinodial cyst (I posted yesterday) I also suffer from extreme period pain every month to the point where I am on the ground screaming hysterically.

I've had terrible period pains since my 1st period at 13. They are just getting worse as I get older. I take painkillers every month to avoid the pain but I want to stop relying on them.

I am taking Hepar sulphur 2ML for my cyst at the moment would this ease my period pain too or do I need to take another remedy?

Please help as my period is due in 3 days and I'm tired of getting hysterical!

Greatly appreciated

Vicky

This is just a forum. Assume posts are not from medical professionals.
Hi Vicky,

For your menstrual pain , you can be given acute remedy , but afterwards you will have to take a constitutional deep acting remedy which will take care of this completely. Hepar sulph wont help the menstrual pain.

For acute prescription , you will have to provide us ALL the details.

1. Location : where is pain located? ( back/ abdomen/ thighs...etc...)
Is the pain fixed to that area , or does it radiate? ( eg : from back to thighs etc...)

2. Sensation of pain : Can you describe the pain ? ( type of pain : cramps/ throbbing/ dull constant/ shooting etc...)

3. What makes your pain better/ worse? ( application of heat/ cold, bending, sleeping, rest, etc....)

4. Any associated complaints before, during and after your periods? ( constipation/ diarrhoea/ pimples/ headache etc....)

5. Character of the flow : regular? colour ( red/ dark maroon/ black...),consistency (thick/ thin/ stringy...) odour, stains( what colour), stains easily washable?

Hi Magicure,

1. The pain is in the lower part of my abdomen (below my belly button). The pain is concentrated around there.

2. The pain is horrible it's like a constant flurry of punches like some one is puching me non stop and every few minutes I get a shooting pain.

3. I feel better if I put a hot water bottle to feel warm and I pace around the room like a crazy woman in the hope the pain will stop.

4. I think get hysterical the first day of my period because I know the pain I have to endure so I end up having diarrhoea (everytime) and during my last period I vomited for the first time. I always feel cold during my period even in 30 degree heat with 90% humidity ( I live in Hong Kong)my lower half of my body is always cold and I'm white as a ghost.

5. When I don't take any painkillers and try endure the pain my flow is dark red and with a lot of blood clots. When I do take the painkillers there are less clots and the flow is lighter.

I hope this helps just writing this makes me anxious about the next few days. I am already on hepar sulphur for my cyst should I wait until I have cured this before I start on curing my period pain?

Would love your advice!

Kind regards

Vicky

Hep Sul is very low on the list for ovarian cysts.
Which side is the cyst.
The remedies most likely to help are Pulsatilla, Sabina, Lycopodium and Lachesis.
Possibly some miasmatic nosode.

Hello Vicky,

How often are you taking Hepar sulph? In what potency? For how many days? What is going to be your next remedy for treatment of the cyst? when?

It is not a good idea to take more than one homoeopathic remedy at a time.

Are your menses regular? flow heavy/ scanty?
easily Washable stains?
any change in thirst/ appetite/ mood (before/ during/ after your menses)?

Passkey,

Vicky is taking Hepar for pilonidal cyst.

magicure last decade
Hi Magicure and Passkey,

Yes, your are correct Magicure I am taking hepar sulphur for my pilonidal cyst.

I took hepar sulphur 1ML for a week 3 times a day given by my homeopath. Then I waited for a week. I noticed the lump around the hole where the pus comes out had gotten smaller. I went back to my homeopath and I am now taking 2ML hepar sulphur (3 times a day) for a week and today is my last day of the remedy. My homeopath is on holidays so I was thinking of continuing with the advice of Pankaj which was to take a dose of myristica to drain out all the pus???

Does my pilonidal cyst have anything to do with my period pain?

My menses are regular give or take one or two days. I crave chocolate a few days before my menses and I am very happy and relieved after my menses. Towards the end of my period I get scanty stains very dark and difficult to wash. Does this help in anyway?

Hi Vicky, Checking around, found some possibles, but the one that may be good is CIMICIFUGA R. This is homeopathic "black" cohosh.

The homeopathic "blue" cohosh CAULOPHYLLUM, is used during delivery of the child.

Another good female remedy is PULSATILLA. This is known to begin tardy periods and regulate. Quite painful, but I don't think this is close enough for you.

Another thing that is difficult for you is the anticipation of the pain actually makes it worse. I am sure you know this. I had terrible periods too. When I vomited my mother wanted to know if I had been "bad." I just gave her one of those famous teenage looks!!

Get whatever potency you find and take a dose right away and a dose once every day and when you begin period, every 2 hours 'only as needed' until better.

Take the least possible and stop when better. Hope this is the one.
Blessings, Sabra

Hi Sabra,

Thank you for your help. So you suggest I try Cimicifuga R? I will buy the remedy today. Should I stop taking my hepar remedy (for my pilonidal cyst) once I get get my menses and start it again when I am over my period pain? My period is due in 2 days.

I don't know what is best!
Would like some advice on what course of action I should take.

Kind regards

Vicky

Hi Vicky,

First, here is the answer to your question: Pilonidal cyst has nothing to do with the menstrual pain.

You can take Pulsatilla 200, 4-5 pills, 4 times a day during your menses , and that will help to reduce the pain .
Take the pills on a clean tongue , and do not eat/ drink anything atleast half an hour before/ after taking the remedy.

pulsatilla ( along with Ammonium nur) is the drug which covers most of your symptoms. The most characterstic is Diarrhoea during menses which also is covered by Pulsatilla.

I think 200 potency should help you , but you may want to keep Pulsatilla 1 M at your hands so that if Puls 200 doesnt help , Puls 1 M can be tried.

If you have finished with the prescribed doses of Hepar , I would suggest you to start any other treatment for the Cyst once your periods are over.

Keep posting,

Take care...

Hi Magicure,

Thanks for your response. Sabra suggested I try Cimicifuga R so I went out and bought the remedy as she said Pulsatilla even though a good female remedy is not close enough for my type (I had not come across your post).
I am finishing one stage of my treatment for my pilonidal cyst today and I will start on my period remedy tomorrow.

Now the question is which remedy Cimicifuga R or Pulsatilla???

Help!

Vicky

Hi Vicky,

The choice is yours.
You can read both the remedies and decide for yourself.

Cimicifuga, though covers a few symptoms of your case , it doesnt cover "Diarrhoea during menses" which is characteristic. There are only a few remedies with this symptom.
Cimicifuga has the pain across hips.

Please let us know about your condition,

Take care...

I've been following this post because of my terrible back ache I get about 6 days before I start my period. The ache lingers until I start. I feel bloated, sometimes tired and mostly hungry. I have had these symptoms most of my lifetime of the lovely period, but have just masked the aches with Midol and tylenol. I'd like to try and get to the root of this problem. I have normal periods and they come on time. thank you atk

You keep popping in here and there, how will we be able to follow through with treatment if we forget which post you are on??? I really don't blame you, but you see the possible problem.

Try CONIUM before your next menses and see. 1M, one dose 5 days before and another two days later and a third only if needed.

Let's hope we find you later.

Hi Vicky, how are you doing?? No word does not mean good news here.

Bloated, tired and hungry, with painful periods seems like: "estrogen dominance". Look this up.

The herb Vitex takes something like 2 or 6 months to start acting, but then it really works, in a sustained way, according to relates I've read and to my own experience.

Don't confuse Vitex with homeopathic Vitex, the principles of the use of herbs and the use of homeopathic preparations of herbs are quite different.

(Mmmm. I'm reading this forum because I want to understand homeopathy better, but then I can't resist helping people with my knowledge about herbs. Sorry for the off-topic(s)...)

Off topics are discussed all the time. We need to learn as much as possible to treat the particular needs of the individual. Homeopathy is not the one and only answer for all.

Hi Sabra,

I'm here I read the forum everyday since I discovered it a few weeks ago. Funny thing with my period it has not come yet??? It is usually spot on. I think talking about it sometimes delays it coming (I have ruled out any other possiblities!). I've experienced this before when I have been under a lot of stress. I teach at a special needs school in HK and its the end of year break up Xmas party! So I have been running around like a headless chook for te past week! Will post as soon as I feel those cramps!! Hopefully I won't! Thank you for your thoughts.

Kind regards

Hi everyone,

I finally got my period 1 week late and I had extremely painful cramps. I tried the cimicifuga 200C but the pain was too great. I took about four doses every 15 mins at the first sign of my period but I finally gave up because I couldn't bare the pain. I ended up taking neurofen (which I hate doing). I really want to find a remedy but don't know what course of action I should take now. I am currently being treated for my pilonidal cyst. Is it best to cure one thing at a time? My cyst is the thing I want to get rid of first, maybe I should concentrate on that. Any advice concerning my period pain?

Kind regards

Vicky

I have just gotten my period again and I have taken Cimicifuga 1M. I don't know how I will go. If the pain gets worse can I take a dosage less than every two hours. For example every hour or half hour??? Need urgent advice!

Thanks

Vicky

VickyKane last decade
Well, I am really late in answering. One should take the dosage a day or two before the period. Then, yes closer together, BUT...

If no relief at first sign of period and you've already taken a day or two before, it seems the Cimi. is not working for you.

Might try the Herbal Black Cohosh, not homeopathic.

Have you tried basic dolomite calcium? The other would be the Coral Calcium. I remember another time this was really helpful.

For your P Cyst: Have you taken Silicea yet? First to take. In the X's. One dose and wait a week for the second. Echinacea will help the pus inflamation of the cyst. Try not to have surgery. It is no more helpful than homeopathy. (hurts a lot too)

Silicea either forces it to the surface and drains, or heals within. So, do not think it is not working.

Keep talking to us.

Dear Vicky, knew I had some notes in my book, but had to find it.

VIBURNUM OPULUS 200X is very good for cramps. I had to find the note. (You should see my book.)

I hope this helps. Remember to take it a day or so before period.

Blessings, Sabra

Hi Sabra,

Thanks for your response. I am on my second day of my period and the pain has eased, I took a total of 4 ibroprofen tablets because the cimi as you mentioned wasn't working. I will try the viburnum opulus 200x during my next period as you suggested, hopefully I will not need to resort to taking those tablets again!

As for my P cyst I have taken on the advice of Panjak Varma as I am a hepar type person I am taking:

hepar sulphur 200c, one dosage in the morning and one at night for a week. But I stopped mid way to take cimi for my period. I will continue when my period is finished.

I noticed alot of pus coming out and drying up and then again alot of pus coming out and drying up. I have been putting calendula cream on and around my sore suggested by Panjak Varma. I guess I have to wait and see.

Thank you for your help and concern. I am determined to find the right remedy for both of my problems! There is no way I want surgery!!! I will keep you posted.

Kind regards

Vicky

Hi all,

I just got my period yesterday and didn't get any cramps (first time in a long time without painkillers). Sabra I took viburnum opulus 3 days before my period as you suggested but I could only get 200C. I know that is a high dosage.

Last night before I went to bed I felt a dull ache across my tummy so I took another dose to help me sleep. Woke up feeling ok but by the time I left home for work the dull ache was getting worse so I took another dose. Now at work I felt the same usual cramps coming on and have now taken 3x viburnum opulus 200C in the space of 3 hours.

At the moment I feel a very slight dull ache but I think it is my anticipation of the onslaught of pain I'm used to. Would like to know if it is ok to take this medicine the way I am or should I try something else. Maybe conium or pusatilla for my next period! I'm starting to lose hope, theres gotta be some remedy out there for these cramps that have tormented me every month for all these years!!!

Hi Vicky, well, the forum has done a big shift again and you are back. Any questions or reports?

Blessings, Sabra

sabra last decade
Yes, I am always here. I have two posts that I follow one for my period pain and one for my pilonidal cyst. But I don't want to mix the two together. For it may confuse the great and very helpful people that post their advice.

Unfortunately Sabra, I couldn't handle the pain, it got worse and I resulted to pain killers again and now I can't feel a thing. What am I to do? I am at such a lost. I have so much faith in homeopathy but so far I haven't found the right remedy. I am thinking of trying magicure's suggestion and take pulsatilla for my next monthly period.

Or should I stick to viburnum opulus 200c?

Kind regards

Vicky
