Hi Rishimba,In some other thread you prescribed LATHYRUS 30C for a parkinson patient.
Is it Lathyrus Sativus ?
Does this prescription applies to the following patient?
- Male, 75, 15 years of Parkinson , Parkinson affected after thigh bone surgery with anasthesia given at lower spine.
- Bed ridden since 3-4 years
- Very rigid hands and legs as soon as the anti-parkinson drugs wear off
- Very stiff fingers , often widely separated and bent back to some extent.
-stiff hands, wrists and legs
- Severe numbness and twitching.
- Restless legs at night and general insomnia
- Genarally wakes up at 1 - 2 AM and will not sleep till 4 AM
- Often feels burning sensation at extremeities and some time whole body. Relieve when we press with COLD cloth, which is soaked in ice water.
- Dry Mouth, but saliva drools heavily when in deep sleep
- Irritable bladder and burning in urethra before and during urination, relieved after some time.
- Bladder and urine problems increaed after TURP. We tried Staphysagria 30 for 1 months, it helped to some extent, but not cured
- severe constipation, laxatives not help much, hard stools, needs to use fingers to get them out
- Patient suffered lots of misfortune and always used phylosophy and religiastic practises to control himself.
- Used to indulge in some activity all the time to control emotions.
- Very rarely expressed his anger. (Thats why we attempted Staphysagria - it seemed to help little)
- very much afraid that he will die
- wants someone to be around always

in this case the first remedy you should try is CAUSTICUM 200C once every alternate day morning.

We started giving Causticum 200 - yesterday morning patient took 5 pills. We will give it once in the morning every alternate day as per your recommendation.
Will post the intermediate status after 2 weeks. If there is any reaction, i will post immediately

Feedback after giving Causticum 200 since one week to my father:
1. He is more rigid and more burning sensation all over the body - we had to apply a wet cloth pressing (soaked in ice water)
2. Urinary retention slightly increased - also could be due to the damp weather now in india
3. Urine is coming in red color. It used to be in red earlier and became normal of useage of Staph 30C
4. Most important: His endless thirst increased. He drinks lots of water even in cool weather, still he is thirsty, and feels dry mouth
Because of such large water intake, his urine output is increased and when ever he is not able to pass urine freely, he is feeling severe abdomenal pain.
5. His ear problems - pain and offensive & water discharge increased.
6. His parkinson symptoms increased.
7. I forgot to mention earlier he is almost blind because of cataract (we could not get it operated because of parkinson)

it seems the dose has shown aggravation of symptoms.
please discontinue the doses for a week and intimate all the changes observed.
in a week's time all the symptoms should get better.

We stopped Causticum since one week.
Current Situation:
1.Excessive rigidity of fingers, limbs and joints when the parkinson drugs wear off (His response to parkinson drugs is only for 1 - 2 hours and after that he is becoming rigid). Numbness.
Some times his fingers are deformed and bent backwards , they will be normal only after parkinson drugs work
2. Highly irritating bladder with abdominal pain and burning in urethra.
Releived after 20-30 min after passing urine.
3. Excessive thirst, still feeling mouth dry.
4. One point i failed to mention, his tongue is always clean , blood red and highly cracked. Gums are in bad shape
5. Difficulty in swallowing.
6. Smelly ear discharge and ear pain - both the ears, more on left ear.
7. Today he felt severe numbness all over the face.
As i mentioned earlier his parkinson started when he took bedrest for 1 year after thigh surgery.

He is average height, strong built and always had proper diet. No alcohol / smoke. No diabetis. Drug induced HTN. He had lots of emotional problems.

as i said earlier, ARS ALB also fits well.
you may now try ars alb 30c every 4 hours for 2 days and see if its producing any changes in the symptoms.

Feeling of middle portion tongue getting folded/stuck is appearing now and then
Again he started drinking lot of water.
One point to note , after this 2days of Ars Alb 30, i guess there is slight improvement in his parkinson rigidity - i can observe that his extreme rigidity when the parkinson drugs wearoff and due for next dose of parkinson drug, seems to be little better - i am not sure whether there is a change / i am getting too optimistic.

i think ars alb will bring some improvement in him.
if the improvement is continuing, lets wait till the 30c effect wears out. after a few days,please give a daily morning dose of ars alb 200c for some 4 to 6 days.
then stop the doses for one week to observe.

The benifits observed by Ars Alb 30 (given for 2 days) are already vanished. We have given it a week ago.
Now, should i give him Ars Alb 200 , one dose per day for 4-6 days and stop and observe?

Feedback after the 1st dose of Ars Alb 200
I have given my father the first dose of Ars Alb 200 today morning and when i asked him how are u feeling , he said
'its ok, but i am very afraid of death, i know this parkinson leads me to death and its normal for human beings, but i am afraid of it'
As i mentioned earlier he is scared of death and he never talked about it so vocally, this is the first time i am hearing though his condition is not in danger now.
I am not sure whether this is a result of Ars Alb 200 or not and whether it is good / not.
I will give one more dose tomorrow and then stop waiting for your review

ars alb can induce fear of death as its one of the symptoms.
however, lets concentrate on the physical side and observe if its emiliorating his pains in the long run.
in case he is not comfortable mentally, please have a gap of 1 or 2 days between each dose.

Feedback after giving 6 doses of Ars Alb 200 and waiting for one week:
1. No Significant improvements noted. Initially, when we started Ars Alb he used to verbally talk about death, though he is afraid of it. But now he did not talk about it.
2. There is a slight improvement in the rigidity of hands and feets (fingers) even when Allopathic parkinson drugs wear off.
3. He is feeling burning sensations on extremities as well as on forehead. Also sever burning in urethra. He asked as to put COLD cloths on forehead as well as penis to control the burning.
(Yeasterday, since it is already one week after last dose of Ars Alb 200, i gave him Staphysagria 30 ONLY one dose since it helped him in reducing the burning sensation in urethra. The burning reduced little bit)
