Dr Deoshlok, please help - headache, post-nasal drip, ear discomfort...

Hello, Dr Deoshlok or someone, please help me. I have 2/3 long-standing health problems, which are severely affecting my life.

Thank you in advance.

1.Age: 21, date of birth 22/01/1987
2.Sex: Male
3. Single
4.Weight: 70kg
5.Height: 185cm
6.Country: Live in London, UK
7. Occupation: student

8. Describe your main suffering?

a)My first problem is headaches.
When I was 17, started developing pain in my forehead, after being exposed to cold,
windy weather. The pain was of pressing, heavy character, combined with a
superficial kind of 'numbness' - type sensation. Not actual numbness, but a feeling
that my forehead was slowly becoming numb.

Similar to when one's fingers lose sensation after playing with snow.

I noticed that this pain seemed to become more prominent when I went indoors from
outside. It seems like I am less aware of it oustide. Also a bit like your fingers
are numb from cold, but this is more noticeble when you are in warm surroundings
warming them up.

Gradually, this pain would subside indoors after some time.

As time went on, this pain brought on by my head being exposed to cold got worse, I
started getting aches in warmer weather, in spring for example.

One day, I cought a cold. The cold itslef was slight, subsided quickly, but my scalp
was painful to touch for a number of days. I also had a persistent, diffuse pain in
my forehead (the type you have from an infection) for about a month after, maybe
more. I did not have any other cold/fly symptoms.

After this, my forehead became even worse. I was getting this dull heavy pressure
and numbness/a feeling that my forehead wasn't a part of my body (loss of sensation)
due to strong air conditioning, sitting in a room with an open window, etc,
generally anywhere with a draught. This even occured in warm weather. The cold
weather outside did not affect me that much, it was specifically draughts, etc,
sudden changes of temperature that brought the pain on.
In December 2005, I had some dental work. I had a frontal tooth removed ( I had a
row of two teeth at the front, one behind the other. This was the case since a young
age, about 7 years old, I think.)

The same day, I caught a slight cold. That day was cold and windy, and I was outside
for quite a long time immediately after the operation).

The next day, I woke up with that mild, diffuse, headachy feeling, like when you
have a cold. The cold syptoms were very slight, and dissapeared soon. The headache,
however, persisted, and since that moment, never went away. This diffuse type
cold-related ache in the frontal area was ever present, sometimes it changed to that
tight pressure/numbness, usually strongest above my eyes. I had to wear a hat even
in summer, since even the slightest wind made the pain worse.

Since, I suffered from a variety of pains and general aches in the head: any tiniest
change in temperature can trigger sharp, stabbing pains in the scalp, they can
develop in heavy dull pressure senations, or throbbing, pulsating pains; all this
pain tends to be superficial, near the surface of the scalp. The scalp can then become very sore to tocuh. These aches are
triggered by the slightest draughts, air conditioning, cold air, putting hair gel,
etc virtually any sudden change of temperature. Basically, from whichever direction the change in temoperature is occuring, I get pain on that side of the head. It's very sensitive, even when I sit
in a room near a closed window in cold weather, I get a pain on the side of the head
nearest to the window, for example.

b). Second problem is throat/ears/nose.

I have chronic hypertrophic pharyngitis, irritaion/inflammation of eustachain tubes and slight rhinitis.
Over the last one and a half years, I started to suffer from constant
throat problems that began with a cold in December 2006.

All that winter till last summer, every day I developed a burning, stinging
sensation in the throat - this occured when my throat was exposed to cool wind, cool
air, and also when I drank cold liquids. It got worse when drinking alcohol, fizzy
drinks, caffeine, and citrus fruits. All that time. During that time, I also became
very prone to colds - I had 3 colds 8 months, and generally felt cold -like
sensations often.

An ENT doctor said I had some acid reflux from my stomach which caused this. But
this didnt explain why I had this sensations after exposure to cold.

Then Last July, I caught a strong chill one day, when I was dressed very lightly,
and the weather was quite cool. I began to feel cold, then my body started trembling with cold, even the teeth started rattling. I
felt a scratching senation in the throat.

The next day, I woke up and I thoght I felt ok, but when I went outside, I developed
a lot of phlegm in the back of my throat, which never cleared.

Two weeks later, I caught another draught in a building, where I had to stay in one
position for a long time. I sensed a strong feeling of discomfort, a sore
constriction in my throat, which rose up to the ears, creating strong pain.

Since then, I had a contstant discomfort in ears, and throat.

I have a slight eustachian tube dysfunction in the left eustachian tube. My left ear 'pops' quite often, especially when out in cold weather. in the
right ear, I experience a flickering, trembling shuddering of the eardrum whe I flick my
hand across the ear, jab myself in the left jaw, listen to loud music or speak
loudly. This happens only in quiet rooms.

I have some congestion in the post nasal space with phlegm around the eustachian
tubes. Feel congestion around the eustachian tubes.

I experience a variety of pains around my eustachain tubes: raw, burning pains,
itchiness and a sense of obstruction or constriction, fulness and pressure; often experience congestion around the tubes.

Have slight redness in the ear canal of the right ear, near the eardrum. (Maybe it's gone now).

Also, get a feeling of heavyness, constriction or sometimes shooting pains in external ear canals when exposed to draughts and cold weather.

My throat has a sligthly thickened posterior wall with small granular formations. It
is geyish-red in colour. My tonsils are also slightly red and swollen, with a small
bump/scar on the right side.

I experience a constant present of phlegm deep down in my throat;
sometimes I feel the phlegm forming in the post-nasal space creating constricting
sensations around the eustachian tubes, and this phlegm dripping down my throat. My
voice also becomes hoarse accossionaly due to the phlegm.

The phlegm hardly ever comes up, it just sits in my throat. It is colourless.

c) Since the day I caught a chill last July,I frequently have muscular tension in my back, along with involuntary muscular twitching iv various parts of my body. This happens when I dress lighly and exposed to cold, or when I suddenly go from hot to a cold place.

9.Describe the most prominet and most troubling symptoms:

the almost constant, mild
diffuse/heavy and pressing/numbness in the frontal area of the head.

The various discomfort in the ears.

10.How do you feel? My mood is changeable. Sometimes, when I feel better, I am
optimistic and cheerful; When I feel worse, I may feel lethargic, bitter; sometimes
throw and break things. Feel sorry for myself that I do not have a social life and cannot do what others do. I cannot even travel in transport like buses, where there are open windows, as it causes pains in the head and ears.

11. What other physical sufferings do you have in your body?

I experience muscular aches and /or slight tightness in my chest area when the chest
is exposed to cold wind. I may also have chronic prostatitis - I have pulling pains
in my lower abdomen when I sit down on the grass, bench, etc on cool day.

12. When did it all start? Can you connect it to any past event or disease?

Since the age of roughly 15, I had a habit of rinsing/wetting my hair thoroughly
in the morning, shortly before walking to school. This was done daily, in winter,
cold weather, etc. My hair woudl still be moist when I went out, I let it dry
naturally. I hardly ever wore a hat.

I think that this in combination with some infection I caught once caused the headaches to occur.

6. Which time of the day you are worst? The same

13. What are the things which aggravate your suffering and which are those which
ameliorate the
same?

Headache: brought on or made worse from exposure to cold, air conditioning, slightest
draughts, sitting in a room with an open window, puttimg gel in my hair, generally
any sudden change in temperature from higher to lower. Get pain when out of doors in winter when temperature is low (less than 5 C), even when I wear a very warm hat.

Better from hot weather, applying local warmth, exercise that induces perpiration,
tying the head up tightly.

Throat: post nasal drip and phlegm worse from exposure to cool/cold/ air, extreme sensitivity to draughts, being in a cold environment with throat exposed, drinking alchol and
fizzy drinks, going from a hot to a cold room
suddenly.Pain and burning sensation brought on by exposure to cold/cool weather,
cold food, cold drinks, alcohol, eating and drinking acidic foods (i.e. oranges).
The pain has frequently occured on the right-side in the recent months.

Better from by being in hot weather, drinking warm drinks,

Ears: discomfort in external ear canal brought on by being in a draught, and cold
winds.

Itchiness, pressure, fullness, obstruction in and around eustachian tubes worse when
post nasal drip increases - so worse when in a draught, cold wind, cold food, cold
water. Alcohol, fizzy drink cause strong itchy, obstructing sensations.

14. When do you feel better, during hot weather or cold weather, humid or dry
weather? Feel better in hot weather.

15. Describe your general mental set up?

My character is quite contradictory and changeable. I am an open, sociable person;
appear to be cool and detached to people who do not know me well, since I am rather
timid. But when I am with people I feel comfortable with, I am very expressive,
very often have 'larger-than-life' attitude, have eccentric steaks in my character.

All my life, have been hesitant and undecisive, from very little things to major
issues. This has been my downfall on occassions, when I missed out on some things
due to indecisiveness.
However, can be very stubborn and form fixed ideas.
Ambitious about things.

Also, I am very careless and absent-minded, which is probably why I have the health
problems in the first place. But have a good memory. Tend to be very impatient, and
lack physical stamina.

Very egoistical, can be arrogant.

16. How do you feel before or during a thunderstorm? The same

17.Do you like being consoled during your tough times?
yes.

18. How is your thirst: Less, Normal or Excessive?
Normal

19. How is your hunger: Less, Normal or Excessive?
Normal.
20. Is there any kind of food which your body can’t stand?
No

21. Is your sweat normal or less or more? Where does it sweat more: Head, Trunk or
Limbs?
normal

22. How is your bowel movement and stool type?
Normal

23. How well do you sleep? Do you have a particular posture of sleeping? Generally,
I need to be out in fresh air a lot to sleep soundly. I toss and turn a lot during
my sleep, and sometimes wake up as a result of this, but go back to sleep
immediately. Fall asleep normally. Usually sleep about 9 hours. Generally, the more
fresh air and exercise I get, the quicker I fall asleep, and the less I toss and
turn.

Usually get to sleep on my right side.

24. Do you think you are able to satisfy your sexual desires in general? No. I am a
virgin, and have desired sexual intimacy for a long time. But because of my headache
problem, for the last 2.5 years I could not go out normally with friends and be
sociable, so I cannot get a partner. Also, till the age of 18, I went to an
all-boys' school, and my contact with opposite sex was limited. Masturbate
frequently, usually once daily, sometimes more. Have excessive sexual desire.

25. Do you have any strange, peculiar or unusual symptom or feelings? How are you
different from others? No.

26. What medications have been taken earlier by you to treat the diseases and do you
have any particular symptom surfacing after the medication?

Headache: it seems thatwhen I took a course of antibiotics, The forehead pain eased.
Acupuncture had limited success. Physiotherapy (manipulating neck joints) - no
observable effect. Special food supplements

Several months back, used Silica 30x with tissue salts - inconclusive: had cold a
week after I took it, and then some of the frontal pains increased. These frontal
pains persist up to date. However, I have strong reasons to suspect that I cought
that cold from someone, and the frontal pain occured from sleeping in a draught.

Recently, used nux vomica 6x and some other tissue salts for cattarh - no noticeable
changes; When the phlegm in throat increases, i take tissue salts, they slightly
improve the symptoms temporarily.

27. What major diseases are running in your family?
My mother's single. Has some high blood pressure/heart trouble from her mother's side. Also her mother , my aunt, cousin had/have kidney stones problems.

28. Describe, how do you look like? Describe your overall appearance.

I am slim, proportional build, quite handsome. Brown hair. Fair skin, yellowish-colour, looks like I have tan.
Eyes grey/green.
Slight blue/dark circles under the eyes.

29. What major diseases have you had in your life and when.

I had urticaria (hives). Started when I was 15. I took a decongestant
(that contained artifical colouring) tablet from a cold, developed a rash on my left
hip. Took antihistamines, cleared. Then, 3 weeks later, flared up again (dont
remember the cause), became chronic, constant. Lasted for about one and a half
years. Cleared when I was out of doors, appeared again when I was in my house, so
likely to be due to dust. Worsened after eating various foods: foods with artifial
additives, chocolate, alcohol, aspirin, ibuprofen, other foods I dont remember.

Antihistamines only supresses the symptoms. Then
started taking chinese medicine (herbs), started getting better. After taking the
food supplement Ginseng in tablet form for a couple of weeks, the allergy suddenly
went away.

Hi Dr Seoshlok,

Thank you very much for your reply. I could not reply earlier, unfortunately.

I would just like to clarify: By one dose, you mean I should take just one pill, is that right?

And also, should I place it on the tongue or under the tongue, or it doesnt matter?

Thanks.

Hello Dr Deoshlok. Thank you for help. I have taken Kali Bich 10M and waited for 28 days.

The remedy seems to have given very slight relief from certain symtoms on occassions, but overall the problems are the same.

The feeling of itchiness, burning pains and heavyness in the ears are slightly better.

The sensitivity to draughts, cold surroundings, cold food etc seems to be just as bad.

The phlegm in the throat seems less than before on occassions, but other times it is just as before. The same with sensitivity to draughts: sometimes better, other times just as before.

Still very sensitive to cold food and drink, with feelings of fullness developing in ears after intake of cold liquids.

There are no changes with the rheumatic head pains.

Any tiny draught or low temperature causes a feeling of heavy weight in the forehead, especially just below the hairline - that area seems tense, with numbness and aching sensations. Sometimes becomes a dull, deel pain.

Still superficial stabbimg aching sensations persist all over the head caused by draughts, the scalp becomes sore and tender.

Most of the doctors I have seen say that the head pains are most likely to be due to the inflammation of the nerve endings in the head, as a result of a benign cold virus/bacteria from a long time ago, and also that I've been going out with moist hair im cold weather before.

I also need to mention that I have slight anemia. Also light acne in a few small areas on my face.

Please, can you advise me as what to do next?

Thank you.
