Multiple Sclerosis

I am a 38 year old female who has had Multiple Sclerosis for 4 years. I generally have numb fingers. My main concern is fatigue and heat intolerence. When I get hot, I find I am on the verge of tears. I feel really desperate and tired. The numbness in my fingers gets worse with heat and fatigue. My best times are in the morning when I feel cool and have the most energy. By 11 am I find I start having heat issues and want to go back to bed. It is summer where I live and really hot so I can't get around the heat problem until fall arrives. Does anyone have any ideas on dealing with heat intolerence and fatigue with Multiple Sclerosis?

This is just a forum. Assume posts are not from medical professionals.
When did this problem start ? Can you correlate any life event with the start of this problem ?

What are your strongest fears ?

What are the things you want to change in yourself ?

Are you an extrovert on an introvert ?

Do you like to share your problems ?

Do you like sympathy/consolation when you are feeling low ?

Give a list of all other health problems suffered since child-hood in the chronological order.

Are you irritable ? If so when ?

Do you feel angry ? If yes, How do you express it ?

The numbness in your fingers, describe the exact location (left/right, tips..etc) ..

Also describe any other sensations felt by you in your body.

My problem with numb hands, heat and fatigue came with my diagnosis if MS in 2004. At the time I was working 12 hour days running my own business. It was a very stressful time. I have since sold my business. I do a job that is quite boring now but has very little stress (accounting, so I am on a computer all day).

The things I would like to change in myself would be better health. More energy so I could travel. Right now I pass up a lot of trips because of fatigue.

I like people and social events but also enjoy my time alone.

I only share my problems with two close friends. When I feel low I don't want to talk to anyone. I don't encourage sympathy or compliments. Neither of which I know what to do with when it is directed at me.

I am irritable when I get hot, hungry or tired.

I don't feel angry. If I did I would discuss it with people I trust.

The numbness in my fingers is in the tips. It is worse on the left side.

I broke my left knee cap when I was 15 years old. Had 4 surgeries to correct it.

At 19 years old I had a pituitary tumor removed. Since then I have had problems with hypothyroid and high prolactin levels. They removed part of my pituitary gland along with the tumor. I am on a thyroid medication. I don't take anything to correct the high prolactin.

Thanks for your help in this matter

I am not sensitve. I am blunt. I do have some guilt over some past events though. Right now I am working with positive affirmations on a daily basis for this.

I do have some perfectionist traits (I am in accounting now and this is where I try to do things correct).

I lean towards the glass is half full rather than half empty. I am not the jealous type. I am not suspicious.

I hate tight clothes around my neck and would never choose to wear a turtle neck shirt. I do walk fast and with purpose.

I don't really have any intense cravings but do eat large portions of food. I am 20 pounds overweight.

I have a fear of failure and of not being good enough. Another reason I am doing daily affirmations like: I love and approve of myself.

I get nervous if a customer gets upset and yells. I freeze up and don't know what to say.

I get a desperate feeling when I get hot. I sometimes feel restless at night before going to bed. Afternoons I feel the worst. Hot and tired then my hands get more numb.

I can't really think of any food cravings. I am very hungry in the morning and not that hungry at the evening meal.

I also get anxiety on airplane flights sometimes. I feel trapped when I have to sit in the middle. Sometimes I will cry and feel my heart racing. I rarely cry and this is one of the times I do.

I am down to 2 medicines.

Last set of questions to narrow down:

1)Can you elaborate a bit about the 'guilt over some past events' ?

2)Has there been any history of 'emotional supression' in your life ? Any abusive relationship ? Any history of grief ?

3)Do you ever tremble from emotions ?

I took care of my 90 year old grandmother for a year. Then her health issues were too much for me to handle and I had to move her to an extended care facility. She passed away 2 years ago and I feel like I should have done more to keep her with me. That is where the guilt comes in.

My father was abusive to me as a child. He died a long time ago. Some grief would relate to this and my grandmother.

I would say I suppress emotion rather than express it or tremble from it. I rarely cry. I don't seek out confrontations with people or family either. I prefer to be the peacemaker. I am a middle child.

Thanks again for your help in this matter.

Okay , please take a total of 3 doses of Lycopodium 30c equally spaced on a single day.

Dissolve 2 pellets in 250 ml water bottle, and 1 teaspoon from this bottle is 1 dose.
No eating/drinking for 1 hr on either side of this dose.

Report in 1 week after this or earlier if you feel some changes.

You can shake the bottle gently once the pills have dissolved for them to spread evenly

I will go and get it tonight after work. I will report back to you after one week. Thanks again for your help.

I wanted to stress that the medicine is to be taken for 1 day only.

I have read your instructions again and will take the medicine exactly as you have prescribed. Thanks again and I will check back with you in a week.

Sameer,
I took the Lycopodium as you prescribed on Wednesday. By the time I went to bed my hands seemed more numb than usual. Waking up on Thursday my hands seemed fine. I went to the mountains with family and got bit by deer flies. I got bit on both feet and on my right hand and arm. The areas where I was bitten are red and swollen. Last night I took a bendryl before going to bed. Today is Friday and I am very uncomfortable. I don't want to do anything to interfere with what we have done (lycopodium) but these deer fly bites are very painful. Would you have any recommendations as to what I can do to alieve the pain but not screw up anything else? The spots where I was bitten are better when submerged in cold water. Hot water makes it worse.
Thank you so much.

We will come back to Lycopodium later. The fingers getting worse was a very good sign as it seemed to be a 'similar aggravation'.

Please take 3 doses of Ledum Paluystre 6c (the dosing procedure is exactly same as you did with Lyc.) to get rid of the insect bites.

Report in 2 days.

Sameer,
Thank you for responding so quickly. I will try the ledum palustre 6c exactly as you prescribed. I really appreciate your help. I will respond back in 2 days.

Sameer,
I went out of town with my husband, so sorry I am late with a response. The bug bites cleared up within a couple of days. Thank you. While on my trip I swam in a public swimming pool and got a very bad rash, the doctor called it pseudomonas folliculitis. Its mainly on my trunk with a few spots here and there on legs and arms. They gave me antibiotics and steroids. My problem is I finished both the steroids and antibiotics and I still have the rash. Not as bad as at first but I am still finding an occasional new spot, more so on my left side. I am also crying at the smallest of things. The pharmacist said that was from the steroids. Western medicine has not helped me so much and I am wondering what to do now. I still struggled with heat and fatigue on the trip to Hawaii. The rash is number one on my list right now a long with the crying. It is hard to work if you feel like bursting into tears.

As a general pointer, never use any steroidal creams for skin rashes, as supressing skin eruptions is the root cause of almost all of the chronic diseases of mankind.

Let us try a dose of Lycopodium again, take a single 30c dose.

one tsp from the bottle just ONCE.

Leet me know in 48 hours.

sameervermani last decade
It was actually prednisone 20 mg that I took once a day for a week a long with the ciproflaxin. Knowing it was not a cream does that change trying a dose of Lycopodium?

travelgirl last decade
It is even worse to take steroids internally. This has even worse side effects.

Go ahead with the Lyco dose as suggested.

sameervermani last decade
Sameer,
I took my Lyco dose as suggested on Aug 14th. Today I have two new pseudomonas folliculitis on the left side of my trunk. There is a red bump and the redness the size of a quarter (hope you know what that size is? I don't know the rupee size for coins.)that spreads out from the bump. I have another new one on my back but can't see it good enough to explain. I am very tired and it was really hard for me to focus at work yesterday. My left hand seemed quite numb yesterday but today it is feeling good again. Yesterday the air conditioning at work was not working and I think that contributed to my lack of focus. Any ideas on what to do now?
Thanks so much for your help!

travelgirl last decade
This points to a slight aggravation, which many a times does happen under the correct remedy.

Now do not do anything, just sit tight, and do not apply anything on the bump.

Update me in 5 days from now.

sameervermani last decade
Okay, I will wait and report back in 5 days. Thanks again.
