Persistent cough in 2 year old
Hi can someone please help me with my son's cough. It started with a cold and ear infection. I did not want to give him antibiotics but after 8 days of fever, I gave in. He was on 10 days of amoxicilin. It seems everything went away except for his cough. He has now been coughing 5 weeks. It affects his sleep alot. He is otherwise a very lively, happy child. He loves to go outside and is very attached to me. Appetite is pretty normal depending on whether he likes the food. The cough is very sporodic and since he is 2 years old, he cannot tell me what makes it worse or better. I can't seem to find a connection either. He does not have any wheezing or shortness of breath at this point. MD checked and said his lungs sound clear. They want to try giving him asthma medicine and see if he would respond. If he does, then he has asthma. I declined that offer. It use to be once in the middle of the night that he coughs... now its 2 times. He would have like a coughing spell where he coughs intermittently for 30 mins... falls back asleep and then again in a few hours. One consistent thing is he cough when he wakes up in the morning. Let me know what other info you need. I tried Drosera 30C, seems to work for a while but not anymore???! It worked on me as I got his cough too but now recovered 99%. I would feel a spasmatic cough everynight and one nigh when I felt it, i took drosera 2 doses 15 mins apart and it went away!!! Thank you all for your time!!!minsy1010 on 2008-07-25
