Migraine; since todder, aura, luteal phase

Hi,

I am female, have had migraines since I was a toddler and am now 37. I have not found any prophylactic that works and am currently taking naratriptan for each headache; which occur slightly before, during and after my period, about 18 days of migraines. During those 18 days, vigorous exercise can trigger a migraine without aura, otherwise I have flashing lights in my vision about 20 minutes prior to the onset of pain. Would anyone be willing to make a suggestion? I am looking for something to prevent migraines and also treat acute migraines. Thank you in advance.

This is just a forum. Assume posts are not from medical professionals.
And, can you please describe your temperament and general behaviour to me.

Your likes, dislikes , and any fears and anxieties must be mentioned as well.

Also tell about any food aversions/cravings, and yoiur general temeperature/weather preferences.

I like to exercise, relax in the sun by the water, read, music, beautiful art. I like to keep the house clean and am highly organized and a perfectionist. I like to start new projects but tend to lose interest, although I do finish the project. I have alternating cycles of motivation and inertia.

I dislike loud noises like banging, loud conversation, loud music; dirt; confusion; being told what to do; told I'm wrong.

I dislike temperature extremes especially hot. I must have air-conditioning in warm weather. My hands and feet get cold easily in cold weather but I keep the house cool at 68F/20C. I need it to be cold at night and sleep with a blanket. I sweat a lot in hot weather or exercise. My body temperature is lowish 97F/36.1C. My resting heart rate is 45. By blood pressure is 110/60.

I crave dairy sweets and chocolate; I must resist the temptation to keep weight down. When I do eat sweets I tend to eat more than average. I have normal weight for my height. Sometimes I dislike cured foods like olives and pickles.

Weather pressure is sometimes a trigger for migraine. I have not associated other triggers with migraines.

Sometimes I stay indoors for days at a time except to exercise. Sometimes I am lonely and other times I don't want to interact with acquaintances. I tend to make social engagements and then break them. I can lose my temper easily. Am anxious about money.

Thank you in advance. Please let me know if you require further details.

Please elaborate on

'I tend to make social engagements and then break them'

How sensitive are you as a person ?

Any history of grief or disappointed love ?

Regarding social engagements: I get excited initially, when invited, to go out in the evening with 'the ladies' but shortly after the excitement wears off and I no longer want to go out. I don't lie when I break the engagement, I can't. So I find an excuse that works.

Regarding sensitive: I am sensitive about criticism. My parents have always said that I am sensitive about other's anger (not directed at me) and it's true. I don't like to hear arguments.

Greif? We'll no one especially close to me has died. And of course I had disappointed love as a teenager. But no adult history.

I didn't realize there was a response to this, thus my delay in posting a reply.

Please note that I have begun Verapamil to treat the migraines (with some but not total improvement). So if you suggest a remedy, please take into account the Verapamil.

Thank you.
