Constitutional remedy??? - Please Help

I am a 43 yr old male with chronic sinus/allergies and heartburn due to a weak oesophagal valve. I also suffer with some ongoing vertigo, sleep problems and moderate acne.
Four months ago I was prescribed the constitutional remedy Graphites by a local Homeopath with no results. I tried the Graphites (as suggested by the homeopath) in varying doses and periods of time with no aggravations or positive results.
I would really appreciate help here as these conditions are starting to become very serious with taking too many 'traditional' medicines. I do believe that homeopathy can help me....

This is just a forum. Assume posts are not from medical professionals.
Okay and when did these problems start ? can you correlate any life event to the start of these problems ?

Let me know about your general behaviour, likes/dislikes , anxieties , fears, food cravings/aversions and temperature/weather preferences, sleep patterns.

Thanks very much for replying

The sinus/allergies started in my late teens, as did my reflux and skin conditions. No specific life event correlation...they simply developed over the years. I have noticed when my sinuses are bad that my stomach issues are often worse. The vertigo started with a nasty case of vestibular neuronitis about a year ago with several recurrent episodes since. When I don't sleep well over a period everything is worse.

Behaviour
I am a quite intense character with strong opinions, however, others tend to view me as mild mannered and quite friendly, with a sharp sense of humour.
I am moved by creative endeavours - music and art. I enjoy the outdoors and physical activity. I also relish having time to myself, but thrive on the company of those closest to me.
I dislike ignorance, hate, and those that control others.
I am not so good under pressure, especially if the situation is out of my control. I tend become withdrawn and frustrated (feel very angry inside) and will often just give up on situations as too hard. If I can't do things my way I become disgruntled and lethargic allowing others to take over, making me feel disillusioned.
I fear losing the love and respect of others, and not having enough time to get everything done.
I fear life passing me by without having achieved anything.
I don't like it when people don't listen or don't notice me.

Food
I am a picky eater. I don't really like seafood or sour cream. I do like, and often crave, sweet and salty foods.
I think too much dairy makes my skin break out and my sinuses worse.

I also crave alcohol and stimulants as these tend to make me feel initially better.

Temperature
I prefer cold weather as hot weather makes me perspire a lot and affects my skin. I also find it harder to sleep in hot weather. I do like being warm though.
I have a strong aversion to dry, windy weather as this tends to aggravate my sinuses. I am much better when it is wet or damp.

Sleep
I am a very light sleeper.
I often find it easy to get to sleep, but will wake shortly after, and then find it very difficult to get back to sleep.
The best way I can deal with this is to go to another bed where I can roll around without disturbing anyone.
Any noises will disturb me.
I will often also be kept awake by repetitive thoughts.

General
I am fair with slightly oily skin and blue eyes. I have some minor sun/skin spots damage on my forehead and nose. I tend to tense my jaw. I also get quite bad headaches.
My stools tend to be very loose.
I also get bad cramps in my outer right calf when walking.
When I am really tired I get a humming sound in my ears.

I hope this helps and look forward to your reply

Can you describe the modalities and sensations felt in your chief complaints ?

What makes them worse or better ?

(Vertigo , Sinus, Heartburn)

sameervermani last decade
Sinus
Worse: dry/windy weather, headache, lying down, when quiet, stuffy room, after dairy, late spring early summer, grass pollen exposure, dust.
Better: Damp/wet weather, exercising, upright, water consumption, during shower, stimulants.

Other sinus info: Drip and blocked in morning. Blocked at night. Slightly deviated right septum. Sneezing constantly in late spring/early summer.

Heartburn
Worse: fatty food, after 5pm, white wine, citrus, empty stomach after a couple of hours, anxiety, worry, lack of sleep, lying down, feeling negative.
Better: dairy, food, before 5pm, upright, immediately after cold water, antacid, relaxed, well rested, feeling positive.

Vertigo
Worse: morning, after coffee and stimulants, lack of sleep, start of damp weather, when hungry, headache, jaw tension, noisy environment, intensely focusing attention up close, bright light
Better: night, after food, well hydrated, quiet, relaxed.

How sympathetic are you ?

How enthusiastic are you ?

Any fear of public speaking ?

sameervermani last decade
Thanks again

I am very sympathetic - easily moved by others, their feelings and I'm a good listener.

I can be enthusiastic but it's not one of my primary traits - actually I tend to be a bit listless - like I feel like I don't know what to do with myself and my time.

I don't really fear public speaking but it doesn't exactly make me feel comfortable either. I do get quite flustered and panicky when questioned by people.

Okay, I have picked the remedy and here is the prescription:

3 doses of Phosphorus 30c equally spaced during a single day.

Dissolve 2 pellets of Phosphorus 30c in a 250 ml spring water bottle. You can turn the bottle upside down a few times for the pellets to spread after dissolving.

1 teaspoon from here using a disposable spoon is 1 dose.

Let me know in 3 days after this.

1/. Nothing should enter the mouth for 40 minutes prior to, or after taking the remedy.
2/. Do not touch the tablets (in your case the liquid) with your hands, tip them into the cap of the container they came in and then into the water .
3/. Avoid coffee, tea (including green), and other sources of caffeine such as some fizzy drinks and large amounts of chocolate, except where this would cause a drastic change in consumption
4/. Avoid wearing perfume/aftershave, or exposure to anything with a strong smell while under treatment. This includes any and all essential oils, and incense.
5/. Avoid the consumption of excessively spicey foods
6/. The use of medicinal herbs, either as 'teas' or supplements should be AVOIDED during Homoeopathic treatment, as should the use of over the counter medication, unless this has been recommended by an MD.
7/. Nothing of a medicinal nature should be applied to the skin

Thanks Sameer - very much appreciated

I can purchase some Phosphorus 30c in the next couple of days and I will let you know 3 days after

Aquamarine last decade
Yeah, sure, and I want to stress that remedy is to be taken for 1 day only.

sameervermani last decade
Hi Sameer,

Just reporting back three days after taking phosphorus 30c as directed...

Initially I had some cold like symptoms - runny nose, slightly scratchy throat which have diminished but the runny nose is still somewhat present. My reflux is a little better, but by no means stopped. I have noticed that I am sleeping a bit better and my mood is moderately lighter. Another thing - when rinsing my mouth after toothpaste my mouth is not as sensitive to cold water as it was...

Does this sound like a correct 'proving'?

Is there anything I should do at this point?

Aquamarine last decade
This was an excellent response.

Now, we must wait. Do not do anything, just wait and watch, and update me in 1 week.

sameervermani last decade
Hi Sameer,

As requesteed , this is an update one week after the last contact.

The day after I talked to you last my heartburn was very bad. It has returned intermittently over the week.
Particularly after 5pm. It has been slightly better though since.

My sinuses are just as blocked and running as they always were, with no sign of change.

My sleep has been better (when my toddler allows it:)), although when woken during the night I still find it difficult to get back to sleep.

I have had one dizzy spell - during the night - when I was trying to get back to sleep, particularly bad when lying on my left side.

My mood seems to be OK...but not as good as I was feeling straight after the Phosphorus 30 dose 10 days ago.

I look forward to you reply...and thanks again Sameer for your attention and patience.

How important are ethics for you ? Do you rigidly stick to your ethics, and find it very hard to break a trivial rule ?

How do you respond to consolation or sympathy ?

Do you act out of emotions or you excercise strong control over them ?

sameervermani last decade
Ethics are reasonably important to me. I have strong beliefs about right and wrong.
However, I'm not driven specifically by ethics. I don't necessarily have to stick to my ethics. I also don't mind bending or breaking rules (if I deem this wont't hurt anyone for instance)

I do very much appreciate consolation and sympathy towards me, but sometimes try to brush it aside as trivial.

I do act out of emotions for the bigger decisions (marriage, parenthood etc.) however in daily life I tend to keep a tight control over my emotions....is this what you meant with your question?

Aquamarine last decade
Just thought I'd better add this....
When I'm feeling under pressure (ie. worried, stressed) I do definitely find it difficult to control my emotions, especially with those closest to me.

Aquamarine last decade
Can we say you have a mild , yielding disposition ?

Do you CONVICTIONS for WHICH you DO NOT ARGUE, even seeming to acquiesce to another's viewpoint though internally keeping your own view.

sameervermani last decade
Yes, more or less a mild, yielding disposition.
...
and Yes, to the second statement/question

Aquamarine last decade
Okay then , please take 3 doses of Silicea 30c equally spaced on a single day.

The dosage procedure is EXACTLY same as before.

sameervermani last decade
OK Sameer will do.

If you have time would you please explain to me why you think the remedy has changed?

I did take Silicea several years ago for similar problems (6X I think) with no results.

Many thanks

Aquamarine last decade
Do you feel overall improvement with Phosphorus ?

sameervermani last decade
I thought that I initially did - in the first couple of days after the Phosphorus, however, I did get quite bad again shortly after...
I suppose what I don't understand is why you wouldn't suggest I try a different/stronger dose of the Phosphorus - as opposed to changing to another treatment as I gathered from your response to my reaction to the Phosphorus that it was correct.

Sorry to go on. I just find all this extremely interesting and am quite fascinated with homeopathy.

Aquamarine last decade
Hmm.. actually I gathered from your post that the benefit faded very soon, so I decided to change the remedy.

The symptoms should not have returned unchanged after just 2-3 days.

But, if you think the benefit lasted longer and/or the symptoms returned a bit milder, then there is merit in going to higher potency of Phos.

Let me know.

sameervermani last decade
Actually, I do think, trying a 200c dose of Phosphorus will be a better way to proceed. If this doesnt work, we will go to Silica.

I dont know how I mis-construed your post a bit.

so get yourself a 200c of Phosphorus, dissolve 2 pellets in 120 ml water, and take just 1 spoon from there ONCE.

Lemme know in 5 days after the dose.

The restrictions above still hold.

sameervermani last decade
Hi Sameer,

5 days ago I took the Phosphorus 200C as you directed.
Unfortunately, I have noticed no change or improvement at this stage.
Should I go to the Silica now, as previously suggested, or wait a bit first?

Thanks

Aquamarine last decade
Go ahead with Silicea 30c as suggested.
