Reestablished Inherited Sycosis

Very Interesting Situation...

Patient 3 years ago took two homeopathic remedies over the counter based on something they read without professional input.

The patient has not had any form of sycosis in their lifetime, and was celebate for six months before taking the remedy. As a child there were many symptoms of inherited sycosis.

A month after taking these remedies, the patient discovered a pink/purple shaped bulb far larger than a pimple, and of solid skin on their inner leg next to their genitals. At the same time a similar type pink/purple bit of skin formed above his underarm. He didn't know any better and picked the bulb near his genitals away.

After six months of treatment on a homeopathic remedy the pink/purple sycotic bulb reformed, and has been in place for six months with no change at all.

Can any of the experienced homeopaths here comment on this?

This is just a forum. Assume posts are not from medical professionals.
Well if the miasm was present as a latent one, it can always return to an active state at some point of time in life.

Just out of curiosity which homeopathic medicine has he been taking for 6 months ? How many doses and what potency ? Has there been mental or other improvement on this remedy ?

sameervermani last decade
The patient took Ars. and Nat S on their own in 2004 which brought about these eruptions. Then I think Lyco brought out the reeruption again.

There were some other improvements over that time.

BeginningHomeopath last decade
The patient has never been treated allopathically for any std. The father and grandfather show signs of inherited sycosis. Both have a great deal of sycotic warts, brown spots, and other signs.

BeginningHomeopath last decade
Okay so, all three are anti-sycotic remedies, and hence can bring out the primary lesion of the miasm which is a 'fig-wart' in the case of sycosis.

If you are sure about the remedy, then LM potencies can be repeated often to get rid of the 'stubborn' Original Primary Lesion i.e. when the miasm is showing it's most outward primary manifestation e.g. eruptions and figwarts.
refer to footnote of Aphorism 282 in the organon.

sameervermani last decade
Sameer,

The patient repeated all three remedies after the initial lesion formed with no change.

What happens when the original primary lesion disappears? Does that often herald an improvement in other symptoms?

BeginningHomeopath last decade
Hmm..actually it is the other way around.

The appearance of a primary lesion in case of a curative response would mean that the remedy was able to bring the disease to outer most level (skin), and hence there should have been relief in the secondary and tertiary symptoms of the miasm. Now, if you were to make a wrong prescription based on the primary lesion alone, and were to push it back inside, there will be an increase in the secondary and tertiary symptoms of the miasm. Remember the disease is easiest to cure at the outermost level.

Just curious, was the potency raised with every repetition ? Repeating the same potency will not achieve anything and in fact will impede the cure.

sameervermani last decade
Yes, in every case I believe the remedy was increased with every repetition.

The patient reports general improvements of a mild degree upon the return of this lesion, but nothing major. The patient has had many other sycotic reeruptions which are occurring on the current remedy. This is the same case that we discussed who is now getting Calc-C.

On the last several remedies, this patient has been getting small circular warts/bumps on his skin, one per place every 5 to 10 days. These are permanent warts. None of these have decreased, but they continue to form on the skin on the Calc-C and on the previous remedies. The patient's father has a great number of these, and the patient reports that their grandfather had even more than the father.

These are sycotic warts. For example about 5 on each hand, one on the belly, one on the knee, one on the side, several on the face. One just formed on the back of the ear. With each one that forms there is a general improvement in the well being in body health, and body feeling, but the patient reports little improvement in their psychological well being.

Prior to homeopathy the patient only had one ever, and this was on his hand as a child, which he suppressed prior to the beginning of most psychological symptoms.

The patient has some lessening of general sycotic psychological factors, but the patient's main psychological symptoms have not changed much.

BeginningHomeopath last decade
Upon taking the Calc-C 200c...

A red bump resembling a chicken pox appeared on the left arm and disappeared several hours later.

The next day a sycotic wart formed on the back of the left ear.

The next day a large pimple formed on the left arm, turned red, and formed to a head. This healed two days later.

Two days later a pimple formed under the left eye and a pimple formed under the lip.

Next day a red pimple formed on the right side of the body.

Well, I am pretty sure, Calcarea is just a partial similimum and is poking around at the constitution of the patient with 'some benefit'.

When the patient gets the perfect anti-miasmatic similimum, there will be no doubt as regards to the affect on the mental level with in 10 days on the remedy and the patient will admit to that without a semblance of a doubt. Broad remedies like Calcarea and Lycopodium when given as partial similimums will always give some benefit. This will however never really achieve full cure.

sameervermani last decade
Well, what should I do? The patient reports feeling better on Calc-C than on any other remedy that any other homeopath has tried on them. The patient likes the Calc-C and does not want me to give them another remedy at all.

The patient has never been able to take more than 6c of any remedy, and on this remedy they have tolerated 200c.

I see many, many symptoms of Calc-C in this case. I am happy to share them with you and if you see a better remedy I would be very interested. Anything to improve the health of this patient. I will write up the symptoms that made me choose Calc-C.

BeginningHomeopath last decade
Ok... this is the patient for whom I've chosen Calc-C.

Before me, the patient tried Ars and Nat-s several years ago in 30c dry without succussing or knowing anything about homeopath. Upon this the sycotic bulb formed near the genitals and the sycotic bump formed under the arm.

The patient then saw a homeopath who gave them Ars 30c and Phos 15c, and the patient had extreme aggravations to both.

The patient then saw a different homeopath who gave them Nux V 200c, which caused a 6 month mega aggravation which almost put the patient in the hospital. That homeopath then gave them Rhus in LM1, which led to a reeruption of scabies on the feet and hands.

Then the patient saw a homeopath who gave them 6c single drops of the following remedies all in water (in the following order Arg-n, Nat-S, Lach, Lyco, Arg-N, Rhus, Ars).

Patient's medical history.

Patient is 33 years old.

Age 27.
Acquired scabies on hands and ankles. Suppressed allopathically.

Age 17
Severe depression followed by anxiety and many mental symptoms in spring.

Age 15
Vaccinations before travel.

Age 15
Severe depression in spring.

Age 12.
Wart on left hand suppressed with a garlic compress and faded.

About age 7 through a year ago... severe depression in winter aggravated by rain and cloudy days and lack of sunlight. Worse in spring, better in summer.

Age 7-9
Learning disabilities, ADD/ADHD and school problems. Inability in math and spelling.

Age 5
Had despair about life.

Birth
Vaccinations

Until two years ago his main complaint was depression due to rainy and winter weather. He has since moved to a sunny part of the country and doesn't have this problem. I do believe that all of the previous remedies brought out this symptom and have partially cured him of this as he reports that rain no longer bothers him. For ten years he has used a extremely bright light box every day which makes him feel better.

Since childhood the patient describes going for walks in which they will imagine conversations that they have. They described it as rehersing conversations. This is an exact description in Kent for Calc-C, where the patient imagines someone walking beside them, and imagines conversations.

The patient has been successful in business several times and has quit several times to start their own business in order to not have to work. This is also similar to Kent's description of Calc. Everyone in the family says that the patient has an inability to apply themselves. He alternates between being consumed by his business and wanting to retire and quit working. He alternates between making a large amount of money in a short time and taking large periods of time off of work. He thinks that other people in his family think that he is crazy, yet most of his family really doesn't notice his mental state.

The patient is tall, 6ft, with brown/blond hair, has a bit of weight around the belly. He is an aritable and phlematic constitution. Very smart, very intellectual. I considred lyco as his constitutional remedy, but he had already prooved that remedy in 6c. He is a 'big baby' in the sense that he craves nurturing relationships, is extremely timid, and fearful. He is tall and strong, but his muscles are very relaxed all the time, and he does nothing physical except work at a desk.

As a child he was exceptionally tearful, and would cry all of the time, even to the age of 18. Up until that age consolation made him worse and cry more. He has always been a night owl and reports going to bed as late as midnight as early as age 14, and going to bed at 2am or later usually as an adult.

He has incredible fears that his life will be bad. He is afraid that he will never be married or have kids, and that his career will be horrible. He is extremely anxious, nervous, and fidgity.

He reports that as a child up until the age of 14, he would almost pass out from going up stairs but that he hasn't had that symptom since about 14.

He complains that his primary symptom is repetitive thoughts that he cannot stop and repetitive worry. He said that he had several primary attacks of this. One at age 5, one at age 15, and one at 17.

He has a deep desire for security and can be very emotional.

he is an extreme loner with few friends and never socializes, and yet when he is with a group of people he can sometimes become the life of the party. Yet then the next day he will return to being a complete loner.

He is always worse in the evening and at night, and reports that as a child he was always worse late at night.

Okay so, I agree Calcarea is indeed the correct remedy.

Now tell me once again how many doses of 6c , 30c, and 200c did he receive.

Ideally this number should have been

A total of three 6c doses on the same day waiting for as long as the reaction lasts.

A total of one or three 'wet' 30c doses on the same day, followed by waiting of atleast 2 weeks.

Just one 'wet' 200c dose not to be repeated and waiting atleast 3 weeks.

I have a distinct feeling that there has been too much repetition of the same potency which has impeded the cure for reasons I explained in a different thread.

'It is an unexecutable project to repeat the same, unmodified dose of a medicine even once, let alone many times (and at short intervals in cases where treatment ought not be delayed). The life principle does not accept such entirely identical doses without opposition, that is, without other symptoms of the medicine (i.e., the ones not similar to those of the disease to be cured) becoming pronounced. '

Organon: of the Medical Art, Hahnemann, O’Reilly 6th Edition, Aphorism 247.

I once had a patient who was given the 'correct' remedy in a 200c wet dose repeated every 3rd day by some other homeopath. After 3 doses, there was horrible aggravations, and the homeopath started repeating 30c in wet dose every alternate day for about 3 weeks.

Even after 2 years from that treatment, that patient had a host of accessory symptoms and of-course many of the symptoms which the 'correct' remedy was capable of curing if the remedy was given correctly.

I had to apply anti-dotes in 6c by olfaction one by one to get him relief. So, be careful with repetitions of centesimals, especially 200c. They can result in long term provings.

sameervermani last decade
Thank you, Sameer,

I do believe that I have found the correct remedy, and I think that the patient is responding well to it. Your confirmation gives me some additional faith in this.

Every time this patient has ever taken Calc-C in any potency, they have succussed the doses, usually with 10 succussions. All doses have always been in water.

In this case the emotional symptoms are more prevalent than any physical symptoms.

I will follow your dosing advice closely, as I want whatever is most healing for the patient.

BeginningHomeopath last decade
You' re welcome.

Be careful using succused doses with centesimals. They just dont take succussions well. Dose centesimals in water, but dont repeat 200c or higher ever after the patient has responded to it.

You can however do repetitions on the same day i.e. before the secondary response has started.

sameervermani last decade
'You can however do repetitions on the same day i.e. before the secondary response has started.'

Will you please explain this?

Would you suggest that it would be best to wait a week or two at least at this point?

BeginningHomeopath last decade
I meant a series of quick doses before the secondary response of the vital force has kicked in is fine, as it is received by the vital force as a 'stronger' single dose.

I think it would be prudent to wait at least 3 to 4 weeks at this point.

sameervermani last decade
Even today, this patient is reporting new brown sycotic spots forming daily on their body.

Also, they are reporting tiny little bumps, almost the size of large grains of salt which are forming on the skin, one per place which have been forming are are appearing one or two per day in different places. Several on left arm near shoulder, several on left bicept, right bicept, etc.?

I don't know if these are sycotic. There is no sensation. I don't think they are psoric.

BeginningHomeopath last decade
Hi,

I think you should keep waiting.

The mental symptoms are sycotic, so you do not need any other confirmation in this case.

sameervermani last decade
One other element of this case...

Ten years ago, this patient would very often be convinced late at night that they were dying for some reason (hypochondria, which is part of Calc-C). The patient also confessed to having suicidal impulses late at night at the same time. The patient reports that this went on from ages 14 to 20something. They report that this was alleviated by the presence of others, as it is in Ars.

The patient reports that in addition to their depression in rainy weather (called Seasonal Affective Disorder), this has been their primary complaint over the years.

Normally, this would point one to the remedy Ars., and in fact the patient tried Ars., and Nat-S on their own which brought about the reeruption of the sycotic bump originally.

Since that time two other homeopaths had the patient on Ars. (30c and then 6c)with aggravations and little benefit either time. I don't see much Ars., in this patient's constitution other than this symptom, which is a hallmark of the patient's history. This also points to the Siph miasm.

Is Calc-C also effective in treating the syphilitic miasm?

BeginningHomeopath last decade
I do not see much syphilis here, the symptoms overwhelmingly point to sycosis, and some pseudo-psora.

He even has sycotic delusions that 'others think that he is crazy'. He has obsessive thoughts, is a night owl, and can flip between being a loner and 'the life of the party'. He flips between being a workaholic and leaving his business altogether.

Worsening from the dark, cold and wet weather can be there in sycosis as well, (remember Med. is very sensitive to 'wet &cold' and has a desire for light as well because he is afraid of the dark) and I would not fall too much into the night time aggravation of his suicidal tendencies, as we do not give that much weight to aggravation times, when the mental picture is overwhelmingly pointing to a miasm.

I can't believe that I neglected to add this symptom to this post as it is one of the strikingly odd things about this case. I am not particularly good at using dreams to identify remedies.

This patient reports a reoccurring nightmare that they have had for about five years, about once a month, and must have had some never well since cause, of which I do not know.

In their dream, they are the passenger in a car/bus/vehicle being driven by someone they know and generally like (parents, friends). The dream begins with the group on a trip up a mountain, and the mountain gets progressively steeper until they are driven up an almost 90 degree mountain, this is very stressful and they wake up in a panic. The patient is very bothered by these dreams.

BeginningHomeopath last decade
Mountains represent difficult circumstances and problems of all kinds. It just symbolizes that he is having difficulty overcoming problems in some work task or some relationship. It may simply show that the patient had a difficult day the day before.

I do not think you can get any idea about the remedy from here.

sameervermani last decade
The patient reports having this dream every month or so since about 2004 (4 years). That's pretty repetitive. The patient reports never being woken up by nightmares before this.

Sameer,

I'm not sure that I had made clear that this and the case of using olfaction to antidote the case are the same case. The remedy here is Calc-C.

I went to look for my description of the case and couldn't find it, and noticed that the description was in two threads. So, I'd like to keep this case with this thread instead of the other as it contains my original notes.

I typed up the dates of the remedies for myself, and thought I would share them with you...

I am really worried about this patient. They aren't eating and aren't sleeping much.

Aug 23
Started Calc-C at 6c. Felt much better than all other remedies ever been on. Took repeated doses.

Aug 27
30c arrived. Also felt great, but remedy was only holding for about 1/2 hour. Took repeated doses.

Aug 30
200c arrived. Took repeated doses.

Sept 1
200c Took 2 doses.

Sept 2
200c Took 3 doses.

Sept 3 to Sept 10
No remedy

Sept 10 to Sept 14
1 or 2 doses per day.

Sept 15 to Sept 26
No remedy. Some symptoms of too much remedy. Started staying up past 3am, and waking up past noon.

Sept 26
Olfaction dose of 6c to cancel aggravations.
After olfaction aggravation symptoms faded.

Sept 26 to present (Oct 6)
Has still not been sleeping at night and has been sleeping during the day. Often has a decreased appetite and reports eating little or nothing for several days. This patient has always been fine physically, but has had emotional problems/ADHD/and school problems since childhood.

Some of the larger changes since the olfaction dose.

Since childhood listened to sad, romantic music. Now doesn't like that kind of music anymore.
Has started crying, same as when was a child.
Has noticed that is better with bright lights on than when in darkly lit room at night.
