The ABC Homeopathy Forum

PCOS, Thyroid tumor, Insulin Resistance, Lyme Disease, &more

Dear Dr.'s,
I'm hoping someone can help me with the many health problems that I have. I've tried many forms of treatment with little or no success. There aren't any homeopaths in my area so I would greatly welcome any help you could give me.
I'm 42 years old.
*age 42 diagnosed with PCOS but I believe I have had it since my mid-twenties: symptoms are weight gain, acne, hirsuitism, stretch marks, brown patch on back of neck, infertility, ovarian cyst
*Also age 42, had 1/2 of thyroid removed due to benign tumor - labs are normal and always were (no hypothyroid)
*Age 36 diagnosed with insulin resistance and diabetes and my metformin was recently increased to 2000mg per day - diabetes runs in my family
*Age 24 diagnosed with Late Stage Lyme Disease - had it for 2 years before it was discovered; I have many, many health problems from this disease. Initially treated with IV rocephin and had an allergic reaction to it: ended up gaining 50 pounds in 3 months right after this: 20 years later I still have weight problems, neurological and nervous system symptoms(mainly on right side), numbness, tingling, short-term memory loss, EXTREME fatigue, heart arrythmias
*Alpha Thalassemia
*Iron deficiency anemia which I was told I can't take iron for due to thalassemia
*Uterine Fibroid tumors; had surgery on 2003 to remove 9 fibroids and now have 4 more
*Depression and Anxiety
*Past diagnoses of Chronic Fatigue and Myofascial Pain disorder ( I feel this was all related to Lyme)
*At times, puffy face, eyes hands and feet
* migraines that start in neck and move above left eye; i believe they are better since thyroid surgery
*arthritis in neck, pain & stiffness
* herniated disc in left side of neck
* hair is very coarse and dry but scalp gets very oily
*Age 18 - bad case of mono, caused rash covering entire chest
*Age 13 - I had worst case of chicken pox my doctor had ever seen in 35 years of practice
*Age 6 or 7 - Scarlet fever, Very high fever of 105 and I temporarily lost all feeling from the neck down and was unable to move, rash on torso with small red rings
*To this day I have feelings of inner fear and paralysis when something is expected of me
*intolerant to heat
*better by the ocean(although I do get a lot of muscle& joint aches and pains in damp, rainy weather
* strange skin bumps that won't go away; they are red and hard bumps on legs, arms,& torso
*I was extremely close to an aunt who passed away when I was 24 but I couldn't seem to mourn for her
*Unable to accomplish very much during the day due to extreme fatigue
* Feel better at night
* I don't seem to feel any emotions anymore even when I should feel happy or excited
* Diagnosed with Celiac disease 3 years ago - runs in my family
* whenever I get sick, I gain a lot of weight rather than losing
* hot, humid conditions make my symptoms worse
I know this is a lot of info but I would greatly appreciate any help at all! Thank you so much!

Dear Dr. Zahid,
Thank you for your reply. I will try phosphorous 200c. Could you tell me how many pellets to take every 6 hours for one day? I'm not very familiar with dosage. Also, after 15 days, should I write again with my progress or should I continue to take more phosphorous if I'm still having symptoms? Could you give me an idea of what to expect while taking this? Will I feel worse before feeling better and with such a long history of health problems, do you think I will eventually need different remedies?
Thank you for your help!!

Dear Bethy,

This is in response to your e-mail.

You need to describe your temperament and general behaviour in detail

Also, mention about fears, anxieties and major events in life which had an impact on you.

What does the illness force you to do ?

Dear Sameer,
Thank you so much for your reply! Hopefully this information will help.
* I'm an artist, love to read and be near the ocean
* blonde hair, blue eyes, of swedish descent
* Middle child of 3 girls- always feel like I'm in the middle and need to mediate
* Painfully shy as a child but not as much now
* Do NOT like being the center of attention
* Like being with people but also need solitude
* Major trust issues with men
* Easy-going, friendly, quiet, friends call me 'sweet and nice', very depressed(wondering if it's hormonal from PCOS), anxiety and
worries
* Get along very well with people and have lots of friends
* Always trying to please others; bothers me if people are upset with me
* Perfectionist
* Always feel like I'm being judged & saying the wrong things; worried that people think I'm unintelligent
* Mother issues - very controlling; I was brought up on quilt trips!
* Seek approval from my mother
* I always feel guilty about everything and usually feel like it's my fault
* Very insecure - I was very strong-willed and self-assured as a young girl, but became very insecure and self-conscious as I got older
* Moved away from family and friends 4 years ago with my fiance - partly to get away from unstable ex-husband & controlling mother
* Feel like I've 'run away'
* Upset that I can't accomplish very much due to health problems; feel useless at times; angry at myself
* Feel betrayed by my body - like I have no control over it
* Self-loathing
* Can't feel happiness or joy anymore
* Feel very overwhelmed by even the smallest things
* Easily frustrated
* Feel like I'm all of a sudden aging very quickly(wondering if this is thyroid related)
* Feel like my life is passing me by
* Fears: failure, flying, heights, spiders, public speaking(has gotten better as I get older)
* Crave sweets
* can't tolerate sour or bitter foods - cause terrible heartburn
* Chronic heartburn
* Need window open at night and feet outside of covers
* Weight problem bothers me very much; can't lose it no matter what I try(was told this could be from PCOS & insulin resistance)
* Major events:
* Aunt's passing when I was 21
* her husband was very forward with me and there was inappropriate touching by him on a few occasions when I was a young girl
* Almost died from Lyme disease at age 24 and it has definitely changed my life forever due to it's on-going effects- I'm not sure if I ever fully let myself realize how close I came to dying. I survived, but my life came to a halt so to speak.
* The illness forces me to be unable to accomplish the things in life that I have wanted to. I am unable to have children due to these health issues. I am unable to work or do the things I really love due to the extreme fatigue & other symptoms. I have to rest most of the time or I get so exhausted that I feel like I will collapse. I'm so afraid of feeling awful and having these symptoms come out. One day I feel great for a few hours and have a lot of energy, but if I do too much, I could feel terrible for the next few days or so. I can never predict when I will have a good day or even a good few hours.
I hope this helps!
Thank you!!

Hello Sameer,
I forgot to mention that I am extremely sensitive to chemical and environmental odors. I can't walk down the cleaning isle in the store. They make the right side of my face and body go numb and give me an immediate headache with fogginess. Causes me to feel irritable and agitated.
Also, I have always suffered with bad motion sickness.
Thank you!!

Also, I have always had an aversion to anything tight around my neck. Tight fitting clothes around my waist really bothers me too.

I think about things that I have said and done wrong from the past and can't seem to get over them.

I have never been a jealous person, but I do feel suspicious of my partner(nobody else) most of the time for no reason. I never let on about it. It's strange because I have never felt this way before at any other time in my life. It's a feeling that's always with me now and I think it stems from my insecurities. I can't seem to trust and have to talk myself out of feeling this way. This is a daily struggle for me.

More info:
Over the past few years I have noticed my left eye has closed up a bit but my right eye is normal.
Also, for many years I have had a hard marble size nodule that keeps reappearing under my chin and usually takes about a week to disappear again.

Some of this might be redundant but still,
please answer these questions:

1/. Is the patient very profoundly affected by thunderstorms, and other natural phenomenon?

2/. Does the patient have a 'cafe au lait' (milky coffee) type colour to their complexion? Any moles on the skin or brown spots ?

3/. Is the patient very emotional, and particularly, empathic towards others? Do they worry over relatives etc?

4/. Is the patient very independent? Obstinate? Are they very sensitive to reprimand?

5/. Is the patient VERY profoundly affected by music? with a great love of dancing, and keen sense of rythm?

6/. Does the patient suffer from a kind of 'intellectual torpor', which makes intellectual thought difficult?

7/. Do they feel as if they have suffered from some kind of great loss?

8./)Are you a perfectionist ?

9./) Are you improved from consolation ?

10./)Are you prone to head sweats during sleep ?

11./) Do you sleep with your knees close to her chest ?

12./) Do you have some what of an eye for detail especially when it comes to sense of beauty ?

13./) Are you very creative ? If yes, what creative hobby do you have ?

14./) Were you burdened with any extra ordinary responsibility at a young age ? Any history of domination

15./) Do you have or ever have in the past a bluish tinge to the usually white portion of the eye ?

16./) Do you tend to read medical literature a lot ?

17./) Do you have a passion for reading in general ?

1) Yes, I am affected by thunderstorms, etc.

2) Yes, I have a 3' long brown patch on the back of my neck and a 1' brown spot on the left side of my stomach, but not a coffee colored complexion.

3) I feel very sad most of the time but try to cover it up. I do feel emotional right before my period. I do have empathy toward others but not overly so. If I'm not feeling sadness, then I don't really feel anything at all. I do worry a lot about many different things and at times I worry about my neices and nephew. I feel like I've abandoned them since I moved away even though I keep in touch with them weekly. Great sense of guilt about this!

4) Yes, I am independent, obstinate at times and very sensitive to reprimand.

5) No, I am not profoundly affected by music.

6) No, I don't think I suffer from 'intellectual torper'. I believe I have intellectual thoughts but sometimes it's hard for me to express them verbally to people. I stumble over words or can't seem to find the right word that I would like to say. The thoughts are there but I can't seem to get it out. This started with the Lyme disease 20 years ago and the neurological effects it had on me.

7) I'm not sure if I feel I have suffered some great loss, but I do feel sad that most of my life has passed me by and I haven't been able to really accomplish anything because of health problems.

8) Yes, I am a perfectionist.

9) Yes, I am improved from consolation.

10) No, not head sweats during sleep, but sometimes I sweat on the back of my neck and middle of chest

11) I sleep on both sides with my knees bent, but not necessarily close to my chest.

12) Yes, I do have an eye for detail especially when it comes to beauty.

13) Yes, I am very creative. Love to paint oil paintings(I have a very small website with them), interior decorating, writing, sewing flower gardening. Unfortunately, I can't do any of these things most of the time due to exhaustion and other symptoms.

14) No, I did not have any extra ordinary responsibilty at a young age. No domination, just an anxious, sort of controlling (but loving) mother who had many fears while I was growing up.

15) No bluish tinge in the eye

16) I don't spend a lot of time reading medical literature, but I will definitely look up a health problem on-line to find out more about it and what can be done for it. I enjoy reading magazines with healthful tips, diets, fashion tips, etc.

17) Yes, I love to read. Biographies, non-fiction, success stories, informational and self-help books. Do not like murder mysteries, science fiction or anything gory.

A symptom that I forgot from years ago:

At the age of 6 or 7(around the time of the Scarlet fever), I remember having a very strange 'electrical shock' type of pain in the area of my heart. It felt like multiple shocks at once and very painful. After that, I would always get tired very quickly after exertion and my heart would pound heavily. To this day I still get the pounding and fatigue if I overdo it and even if I'm just sitting and resting I will get arrythmias. I have had testing done and they found the arrythmia problem and also that I have a skipped beat but the heart itself seems to be fine.

Please take 3 doses of CARCINOSIN 30c equally spaced on a single day as below.

Dissolve 2 pellets of Carc 30c in a 250 ml spring water bottle. You can shake it gently after they have dissolved.

Take a capful from this bottle 3 times in one day, spaced by 2 hours. This is to be done for one day ONLY.

Let me know in 7 days after these 3 doses. I will look forward to your update.

Restrictions:

1/. Nothing should enter the mouth for 40 minutes prior to, or after taking the remedy.
2/. Do not touch the tablets with your hands, tip them into the cap of the container they came in and then into the water .
3/. Avoid coffee, tea (including green), and other sources of caffeine such as some fizzy drinks and large amounts of chocolate, except where this would cause a drastic change in consumption
4/. Avoid wearing perfume/aftershave, or exposure to anything with a strong smell while under treatment. This includes any and all essential oils, and incense.
5/. Avoid the consumption of excessively spicey foods
6/. The use of medicinal herbs, either as 'teas' or supplements should be avoided during Homoeopathic treatment, as should the use of over the counter medication, unless this has been recommended by an MD.
7/. Nothing of a medicinal nature should be applied to the skin

Dear Sameer,

I had to order carcinosin from the UK so I'm not sure how long it will take before I receive it. When I do, I will take it as you suggested and then contact you after 7 days.
I do have a question. From what I understand, carcinosin is a cancer remedy. Is this suggested because of the thyroid tumor and fibroid tumors? Just curious.

I want to thank you for the time you have spent on this and let you know how much I appreciate the help you are giving me!
Thank you very much!!

Dear Bethy,

The whole totality points to Carcinosin which by the way is a very broad 'constitutional' remedy.

Some of the very main indications are:

-sensitive to reprimand, independent and obstinate
-perfectionist
-feeling of having run away from family and guilt arising from it
-High level of creativity
-Fears of failure, heights and spiders
-Amelioration by the ocean
-Passion for reading
-History of controlling parents

The whole miasmatic state is very syco-tubercular here, and Carcinosin certainly covers it as well as any other remedy.

I hope that answers your questions.

Good Luck,
Sameer

Dear Sameer,

Thank you so much for explaining! This is very interesting and I look forward to seeing the results from the remedy.
One last question as I know you must be busy with other cases:
If I see positive results, is this something I will continue to take on a regular basis since it is a constitutional remedy and also maybe at a higher strength? I'm not very familiar with the strengths of the remedies. I'm assuming we have to wait and see what happens initially.
Thank you again for your time and your help! It is greatly appreciated!!

No, homeopathic medicines do not need to be repeated on a continuous basis.

Once your body starts moving in the right direction, the medicine does not need to be repeated at least not in the same potency.

Thank you, Sameer! I will report back when I have some results for you.

Hi Sameer,

I took all 3 doses of carsinosin 30c yesterday and without thinking, I took some mint flavored liquid antacid in the middle of the night for heartburn. I later realized that mint isn't supposed to be ingested while on homeopathics.
Should I take another dose of cars 30c or maybe even start over?
Also, I know that I'm not supposed to drink green tea, but is decaffeinated green tea ok?
Thank you,
Bethy

Dacaf tea is fine.

If the mint was not take in the vicinity of the dose, dont worry about it , it will not interfere.

Thank you Sameer! I'll be in touch again later this week.

Hi Sameer,

It has been 7 days since I took the 3 doses of Carcinosin 30c. I did notice some changes. Within hours of taking the remedy, I felt happier, more alive and much more mentally alert. That lasted for about 2 days. After that, I started to experience some past symptoms popping up and then quickly disappearing again; ex. shooting pains all over as well as numbness & tingling in different areas, etc.
On the third day I was tired and achy with diahrrea and nausea. This lasted for 2 days. On the 5th and 6th day I started feeling very tense and aggravated. On the 7th day I started feeling very depressed and heavy inside as well as still feeling extremely tired. It feels as though I had some improvement and then went back to my original state.
I look forward to hearing your opinion and what you would suggest for me to do next.
Thank you!

Dear Bethy,

Let us wait for 1 more week, as I feel the response has not come to complete halt yet.

Update me at that time. In the meanwhile, please procure Carcinosin 200c, as we will need it soon.

Hi Sameer,

I will wait 1 week and in the meantime, I will order Carcinosin 200c. I look forward to talking with you then.
Thank you so much for your help! It has been 20 years and I finally feel like there is hope for me to feel better even though I know it can take some time to heal. I really appreciate you taking my case on!

Hi again Sameer,

I am about to order Carcinosin 200 from Helios in the UK. The last time I ordered I noticed that they have many different carcinosin remedies to choose from. I'm assuming that I should just order Carcinosin 200 in liquid form like I did with the 30c. I'm wondering what the difference is between the other carcinosin remedies and what carcinosin co. is. Just curious and want to make sure I'm ordering the right one.
I'll wait for your reply before I order.

Thank you!
