How slow is Silicea ?

Hi,

I was recently going through Kent's Lectures on Materia Medica.
About Silicea, he noted :

> The action of Silica is slow. In the proving, it takes a long time
> to develop the symptoms. It is, therefore, suited to complaints that
> develop slowly.

For a rough idea, how long does it take for Silicea to start working ?
How long should I wait to see whether the remedy is really working ?
I am taking Silicea 30.

Regards

This is just a forum. Assume posts are not from medical professionals.
As he said it is suited to troubles that take a long time to develop. Its action can last up to 60 days and its displays the fact that it is working ,or not, by any changes that take place . To siimply keep repeating the dose is counter productive as that will often neutralise the effect of the previous dose, Only take another dose to nudge the improvement along , when it starts to slow down. Dont know if this answers your question . If not others will probably elaborate.

hi,
i am a first year student in homeo, but have been using it for years

i saw a case of a person who was really in the deepest pits in depression; this guy was stretched flat out on his bed all day and everyday. no energy even to get on with his own life. forget the fun and socializing, by this time this little guy was on survival mode, he was just spending his life in bed, the energy was that low;

after 10 days of silicea 30c he was up and about and even starting to wander from the house from time to time with friends!

it was a one shot dose only, and it was closely monitored by an experienced homeo.

hope this answers it for you.

to mariedo,
your saying about mental aspect of illness got my interest.. some good people try to help me with not much a success. maybe because i didn't mention about my mental status...since my main sympton is cough, and you mention about staph 30c.i checked the staph30c at the store and read it's mental outlook. it matches pretty good i think. so should i try it? or post my illness with mental aspect this time, and listen what everybody recommend? aecha

I am only at the end of year 1, Aecha. Although I have learnt a lot, I am definitely not the best person to ask, because there are qualified homeopaths around.

The one thing I do know is that all dis-ease stems from the mentals... look into those, and discuss that with the homeopath, then tell him about the physicals...

In that way you will get the best and most effective treatment.

This is not about getting the fastest reply, but more about getting the best reply, don't you think?
