Help! Worm prevention in infant?

My husband was looking after our 11 month old girl today with our golden retriever while doing his gardening. Somehow, she ended up chewing on our dog's leash. Now I am paranoid she might get worms. What should I do? Am considering dosing her with cina. Will that help prevent anything.

This is just a forum. Assume posts are not from medical professionals.
Hope thiss will not be deleted as not connected with homeopathy.
Give your girl pumpkin seeds, 200g each evening. Most worms hate these.

Please exercise some common sense. The "leash" is not a problem. Droppings of the dog are.

Instead of becomming paranoid, make sure your dog does not have worms.

Learn more about parasites so you will be informed.

Children are prone to get parasites, some more than others. Usually after they are walking and in and out of the house. Mother isn't watching their every move as a crawling infant that puts everything in the mouth.

I raised three messy, dirty, into everything, little boys. Only had a few episodes of pin worms. (Florida, with all the bugs a child could ever wish for!)

Seldom from family pets unless in "dirty" areas. Even getting licked is not as harmful.

Camping/creek areas are more prone, due to less care by people that have used them with pets. Many campers do not feel a need to leave the place clean anymore it seems.

Camping/creek areas in parts of the US are more prone to Lyme ticks. Deer like to wander along creeks.

Educate yourself instead of falling into fears. Fear is your enemy that chains you from the joy of life.

Unless your 11 mo old child is a really good "chewer" with side molars, do not give pumkin seeds to chew as yet.

Remedies for no real reason may interfere with any good balance your child may have at this time.

First check the dog, then act accordingly.

The dog is okay - no worms although we have not been very diiligent with de-worming him. I think he's 2 months due of another deworm. But his stools are clear from any worms and he's generally a pretty clean housebound dog.

Remember, all worms are not "seen." This is why the vet takes a stool sample when there is reason to believe there is a problem.

Round worms that dogs get sometimes can be seen. If they are seen, the infestation is quite bad. So one prevents by deworming, halting the process.

Tape worms leave a tiny one or two inch piece of something that resembles pasta. This is your clue. Tape worms are REALLY bad.

Pin worms are the least problem and the most seen in children.

The tiny, and I do mean tiny, yet seen, worms come out at the anus of the child while they are asleep and lay eggs.

The problem with children is that they scratch their little butt and reinfect themselves by hands at mouth. Washing hands often when worms are present and no scratching.

Please try to not produce a paranoid "hand washer." This leads to a lifetime of obsession. Be at peace and be glad you are learning while your child is small.

Sabra,

Thanks for that. Out of curiosity, how long does it take if she does get infected with worms because of this incident? When that happens, what should I do?

Thanks.

No one knows until symptoms occur. Remember that homeopathy only follows symptoms. "Time" has no regularity with any symptom. There are no absoulute answers, no magic pills.

Spend your worry time learning as much as you can about the personality of your child. Learn to "read" her and know her wants and dislikes as an individual. Learn "who" she is. Then if she acts "different" you will spot the difference right away and be able to report accurately and easily.

Worry is a waste of time and is USELESS in any situation.

If a person was drowning would we stand there and wring our hands and scream?...NO...we would DO something about it. We WOULD NOT waste our time worrying IF someone "might" drown.

Clear thinking and careful evaluation of any situation is the answer to a happy life.
