My 2yrs 10 months old son suffering from recurrent bouts of cold and breathing problems and now a rattling cough
Dear Dr. SameerMY 2 yrs 10 month old son has been suffering from upper respiratory infection for quite some time now.I am seeking a more lasting cure for the same ..
He had a persistent itching of his upper palate with his tongue producing a peculiar noise(which even I as a child used to doit and even my mother ).But in my sons case his nose rattles indicating it is filled ..the rattling is particularly heard when he is sleeping making a bellowing kind of noise indicating he is having to breathe with some difficulty..
I used Hepar Sulph 6 for this & got some kind of temporaray relief , but had to repeat it several times ...
Then some time back he had a bout of cold with some sneezing .During this time I gave him Merc.Sol for his palate itching & salivation which was also present during this time .I also used Merc.Cor 6 which had worked very well when he had a bout of severe cold & sneezing but with no significant change this time.
Some of the other medicines used were
-Sulphur 6
-Lechasis 30
-Bryonia 6 all in 1 pellet dose ..
This cold degenerated in to a cough which was dry initially became rattling and an explosive kind of cough in bouts which is manifesting itself when he is sleeping or waking up from his sleep or sometimes after eating ...
This rattling cough went on for a week or so then became very severe it degenerated in to difficulty in breathing at night when he is sleeping & subsequently fever in the morning.
We promptly sought allopathic treatment and was prescribed an expectorant, Cough syrup and a Paracetamol for his fever.After the first day of the medicine the rattling though was less and fever went down temporarily but from day 2 the rattling was back & the fever is alternating .An antibiotic was added from the 3rd day onwards ,the fever is gone for almost a day now without the paracetamol but the rattling is still there.
Yesterday we took him out to a place of worship for half a day but after coming back his symptoms have increased one notch again that is the rattling in the cough and breathing difficulty and itching of the palate...
We find in general he is affected by being in a cold draught even being in an air conditioned enclosure as also dust ..
He of late has been suffering
from running nose whenever he goes to school he is back with some form of running nose probably contracted from kids in school,in short his immunity is down ..
Do you think he is having some kind of allergy ?

My worry is he should not becoming asthmatic .As such would appreciate if you could expedite the treatment ...

His temperament, behavior , fears, food cravings and aversions in detail....
He is an Aries born kid ,fire is the characteristic of this sign .Very impulsive in nature and he has been a bit hyper right from the time he has been born .
Speech related:
He is 2years and 10 months old but still not fully speaking .He started off pretty early and is still not clearly pronouncing even simple words ..The other aspects like learning to walk he has been quick and even went on to walk without the intermediate stage of crawling .That gave us the impression he would be speaking early but on the contrary after having started of the initial words at around 1 years time ,it fizzled out .We were a bit concerned when he did not speak much till about 2 yrs 3 months when we decided to put him in playschool,some how there has been a marginal improvement on the speech side .Though his teachers say he is good at the activities which are given to him and understands whatever is told and is a bit precoccious when it comes to understanding things..
Always cheerful & inquisitive:
He is very cheerful and hyper active always inquisitve to know everything he can lay his hands on and always has an uncanny nack of dismantling anything u give him .
Likes Music :
The only way to keep him silent is music .And if it is on TV channels he will not budge from his seat for a long time ...
At Times violent :
At school he has been at times violent with his mates .The teachers reported this behaviour but now he has mellowed down though he is playfully violent with us parents......at home like slapping us and stuffs..
Anger:
He gets angry very fast even with a slight provocation like asking him not to do a certain activity he would start throwing things in a tantrum and yells at the top of his voice showing his dissent till he has his way..
Even rolls on the floor till he gets his way...
Sleeps:
He likes to sleep a lot and gets disturbed if he is woken up in the middle of his sleep, except when he is taken out for a ride....
As a 1 yr old or even late he used to be scared of strangers. Even now he gets scared with some people ....
He used to cry initially when he was put in school
for about a month or so .Even now he gets scared with some of the teachers..in school
Food likings:
Likes sweets a lot .Loves to eat Eggs , the morning milk and honey flavored cornflakes ,choclates though we have not encouraged him on to this habit.....
Sweet is the common denominator..Likes cashew nuts..
Aversions :
Does not like to be told not to do anything he is doing ....

Meanwhile I have given him Ipecac 30 about 3 doses at intervals of 3 hours.
His appetite has marginally improved and he had the regular food.
The rattling cough also has reduced a bit ...it is alternating between dry and wet..
He passed stool with lots of mucus ..

RELAX---case too long to do at site---anyone can give suggestion--u seek results--that takes TIME--i used to do long cases here--but becomes ridculus---long case are for email--emergencies ok here at site----beside swould u be happier if many gave suggestions and no results--i say no----
