Unexplained teenage hair loss! HELP!

I am a 16 year old girl and I've been suffering from major hair loss for over a year now
GP reckons its Telogen effluvium as it not falling out in patches. I’ve tried a steroid solution and only use baby shampoo – to no avail. Can anybody recommend a cure?
Some info:
Hair loss mainly on crown of my head
Also suffering from cradle cap-esque dandruff
Some redness of scalp on occasion
Thyroid function fine
Generally healthy except for slight anemia (But taking ferrous sulphate for this)
Not on any contraceptive pills
Periods very irregular
No major illnesses or stresses recently in my life
No family history of hair loss
If anyone has ANY suggestions I would be extremely grateful
