baby - inflamated sinuses

It's been 10 days now since my baby boy is breathing only through his mouth (rarely through his nose!). He is 10 months old, it is so difficult putting him to sleep and its a struggle for him to drink any liquids, he stops every 2 seconds to take air . There is no discharge from his nose, weve seen the GP and he said that maybe his sinuses are inflamated (he's teething) but he couldn't give him any medication to help.
Can it be hay fever? Is there a solution?

This is just a forum. Assume posts are not from medical professionals.
What happended to him around 10 days ago? Any respiratory illness?

Post in detail his activities these days with regards to eating, sleeping, playing, crying, stool, urine, activity, dullness, restless, etc.

I had seen your earlier posts, you should keep only one post to your this child so one can see his past sickness episodes.

What medications were actually given to him in past and from which he benefited

Thank you for your reply Doctor,

My son is quite healthy and nothing unusual happened in the past weeks except teething, one of his upper teeth cut through. His gums were red and swollen. He is quite clingy and, because he's learning how to walk he is moving all the time and needs me to hold his hands. He doesn't crawl but me and his father didn't either. He's very stubborn and in the past two weeks he protest when I want to change him ( when I put him on his back). This didn't happened before.

He is still eating well, drinking is a problem though. It is worth mentioning that he is allergic to cow's milk protein(gets instant red rash on his face and if he drinks more he throws it up within a few minutes), has a diary free diet except breastmilk. Two months ago I started introducing a few spoons of cow's milk/yoghurt in his food on daily basis, increasing the quantitis little by little(the allergy doctor advised this). He has a really varied diet:fresh grated apple with cereals for breakfast, for lunch and dinner he has beef or chicken, lamb, fish, peas, beans, spinach, corn etc. He also was tested positive for soy allergy and for nuts (no further tests were done to find out which kind - i freaked out because I know nuts allergy can be really dangerous).

He changed a bit his sleeping pattern during the past two months, after us visiting my mother in my homecountry for three weeks(we returned three weeks ago). Before he was napping only bits of half an hour, now he is capable of having longer naps during the day ( 1-2 hours, twice a day). During the night he is sleeping well but still wakes up to breastfeed once or twice. I dont want to refuse his milk feeds for now because it is the only source of calcium, not having other kind of diary. He is going to sleep while breastfeeding or rocking; my mom manages to put him to sleep by playing with some soft toys and strking his head.

He had a mouth thrush around 6 weeks ago and was treated with Nystan(I think).

His urine seems to have a slight colour now, but usually has no colour. His stools became harder in the past week and he is obviously having a difficult time passing them.

Regarding my previous posts related to dry skin and scalp, I decided to consult a local homeopath, face to face. He gave us a mineral remedy but didnt tell us the name(!!!!). I sow no improvement though. My son got better after starting eating solids, at around 6-7 months.

His head is bigger that the usual babies', has a wide forehead, has a very focused look and everybody says he looks very smart. He's well built without being a chubby baby. He's a bit shorter than the norm but so are his parents.

I hope this helps,
Thank you,

Yoanna

I got following peculiar symptoms a 10-month-old boy with big head who has dry nasal obstruction for about 10 days who is a obstinate child with intolerance (allergy)to milk and tendency to be constipated. These symptoms indicate Calc Carb.

Calc Carb but without being chubby and being active contraindicates this.

Describes what he likes to eat and what not now these days.

Notice his reaction to noise, motion, dark, i.e. try to get what causes him scared

I will pay more attention... I am afraid I cannot help very much as he seem to like all the foods I give him. He's not that interested in sour tastes but he loves cooked savoury food (i.e.chicken with vegetables). He's not very keen on juices, drinks water and baby herbal tea from a cup. He doesn't like baby bottles with teats and dummies.
He doesn't really get scared very often. He got scared 4 weeks ago by a tiny fluffy dog and once when a little baby boy his age started screaming near him (around three weeks ago). Also, around 4-5 weeks ago he started to be scared to take a bath, especially to have his head washed. Now he's fine but someone has to bathe with him and he's wearing a special cap to prevent water coming into his eyes when rinsing.

I don't know if it counts - his head his sweating a lot when sleeping or breastfeeding (this is quite common for babies though).

He felt better yesterday, he actually could breathe but today we went out, in the sun, there were a lot of trees in blossom and now in the evening his nose was really blocked and I've noticed a clear discharge this time, not watery, looked like egg white.

You should gave your child Puls 30c.

Method dissolve 2-3 drop/globules into pure one glass water and give one teaspoon three times a day at 10 minute interval i.e. if first dose is given 12 noon then next 12:10 and 12:20.

Okay.

If you have any question or concerns, please ask me before giving.

I am a bit confused now because in the past days my son has changed his symptoms, his nose became runny, he had a bit of fever this morning, he has been seen by a GP who said his throat is a bit red - his breathing is better because he can find a way to inspire.
I didn't have the chance to give him the remedy (by the way,I bought Pulsatilla 30c, is this the one you referred to by Puls 30c, right?)
I am afraid that after this passes he will get back to his previous symptoms. What shoul I do? Should I wait or should I give him the remedy now?

I am away from my pc where i had saved your child case so i am rather less confident with change in symptoms.

But feel confident that he would do better Puls30c which have rightly purchased give it as described above.

Report aggravating factors, relieving factors, dullness, chilly or hot, restless, thirst and thirstlessness

After a few days I can notice afew changes: he can breathe better even if he had alot of greenish mucus discharge from his nose(I guess he got a viral infection just a couple of days before I gave him the remedy, but I don't really know) - now the quantity of discharge has reduced anyway.

After I gave him the remedy I've noticed he bacame even more active and quite constipated - everything is ok now.

I am so happy that he is not sweating so much in his sleep! His head was always hot, almost burning but now is so much better!

He doesn't drink more water from his sippy cup but definitely drinks more milk. The problem is that now is more and more difficult to put him to sleep without breastfeeding him - he must be very happy that he can eat comfortably while breathing through his nose!

I want to ask if I can use menthol drops on his pillow now, I think it helps when the nose is more snotty?

Thank you a lot!

'After a few days I can notice afew changes: he can breathe better even if he had alot of greenish mucus discharge from his nose(I guess he got a viral infection just a couple of days before I gave him the remedy, but I don't really know) - now the quantity of discharge has reduced anyway' Probably this is due to Puls and is a good sign

'After I gave him the remedy I've noticed he bacame even more active and quite constipated - everything is ok now'. Glad to know, but want to know how you are giving medicine

'I am so happy that he is not sweating so much in his sleep! His head was always hot, almost burning but now is so much better!' this was also an indication for Puls

'He doesn't drink more water from his sippy cup' probably an aggravating factor for constipation 'but definitely drinks more milk' good thing. 'The problem is that now is more and more difficult to put him to sleep without breastfeeding him' this is also an indication for Puls. You should feed him probably and make him exhausted in the evening for good sleep – 'he must be very happy that he can eat comfortably while breathing through his nose!' great

'I want to ask if I can use menthol drops on his pillow now', anything with strong scent usually reduces the action of homoeopathic medicines so I would advise to you avoid this 'I think it helps when the nose is more snotty?' hydrate him more and it would clear with time and notice what, why, and when this is worse.

So far now I would ask to tell me how you are giving Puls and when the last dose of Puls given. Stop puls for now and wait watchfully>

'Thank you a lot! You are most welcome'

I gave him a week ago three times 2.5 ml of solution(3 pills for 1 glass of water)at 10 min distance - that's it, i didn't repeat the procedure...

You have done it quite rightly and your child responded quite well. You should give him a second dose in the same manner. Report after 7 days (he may need further medicines) or early if any concern arises.
