This is just a forum. Assume posts are not from medical professionals.
I hope Sabra will come here as she has lots of experience in respiratory problems in kids (by sending the infection deeper into the body all these drugs may cause asthma).
Meanwhile please fill that questionnaire (it's copied from another site but I'm sure Snoopy will not mind)
Acute Case Questionnaire
1. Onset--did the complaint come on suddenly or gradually?
2. Etiology--the cause. What happened? What was going on at, or about, the time of the occurrence?
3. Sensation--describe the pain or other feeling. Does it extend anywhere, does it shoot anywhere? For instance, "It feels like there's a crumb in my throat, I'm constantly trying to swallow. The pain shoots to my left ear."
4. Appearance--what does the person, or the part that's bothering the person, look like; anything remarkable? Red skin, droopy eyes, etc.?
5. Location--where on the body?
6. Modalities--what makes the complaint better or worse? Consider: heat or cold, bathing, warm rooms, fresh air, drafts, motion, time of day when person gets worse, what position is best/worse, stimuli--conversation, noise, light, touch, pressure, massage, music, company, consolation, etc.
7. Concomitants (additional symptoms that came with the main complaint)--for instance, pain with crying; pain with excessive salivation; pain with nausea--the things that have come along for the ride, fellow-travelers, in other words.
8. Discharges--color, odor, consistency. (A discharge is anything liquid that's coming out, oozing out, etc. So, for instance, runny nose, diarrhea, lacrimation and so on.)
9. Generals--these are all the "I" symptoms: I'm hot, I'm cold, I'm thirsty, I'm tired, I'm sad, I'm irritable, I'm hungry, I want pickles, etc.
10. The mentals: Have the mentals changed from normal, in what way? What's different mentally and emotionally?
11. What does the person say? For instance: "I'm fine, leave me alone." "Don't leave!" "I wanna go home!" "I want ice", etc.
12. Thirst--is the person thirsty, not thirsty, what temperature drinks, what kind of drinks, does he only want sips, or gulps, does he drink a little bit frequently or a lot infrequently, and so on.
13. Fever?
14. Sweating?
15. Odors? Are odors an issue, such as bad breath, foul odors of any sort?
16. What is most striking about the condition? What is most peculiar--for instance, person is cold but heat and covers aggravate; person has burning pains but is better for being covered and hot drinks like tea.

Thanks Astra. Also to mothers, teach child to say "I feel like..." This will give a better discription.
Also, when dealing with young, I say, "tell me about your nose,(and listen silently) your eyes, etc." rather than talk about the condition from the mother's point of view. One can talk a child into a whopper of a cold with careless conversation.
Mother, try to remember the true symptoms inbetween the over the counter stuff that suppresses the symptoms.
Be frank and open, not anxious.
Once when I was working with a horse, I asked the owner to just talk about the horse. Tell me all about him. It worked.
Blessings, Sabra

Begin with DULCAMARA somewhere around 200X. What you can get.
Use one dose 3 times a day. Before school, after, and before bed in a clean mouth. Let the dose melt under tongue.
Never send remedies to school, they freak. Will claim drugs and suspend him. May call police, remove child from parents.
Do this for two days and stop to see his progress.
Get some chewable vit C and some liquid calcium. Also Zink. One only needs 2 or 3 tablets of zink per day. Have him "break" the tablet in his teeth. Many "tablets" never digest and pass right through.
The liquid calcium are football shape white capsules. Two per day. At least 1000 megs of the vit C per day. (while sick only- during well times, only 300 to 500 mgs) Children's vitamins are a farce.
Vitamin C and Zink are the body's healers. The calcium replaces used within the body.
We have free-flowing calcium in our bodies. When ill for a period of time, one uses up this free-flow and begins to leach calcium from the spine and this is "very" not good.
Please report progress.
Blessings, Sabra

The tooth "process" may be part of why it continues, but at his age children in school keep exchanging germs.
Tell us how he goes.

Most cold problems are the work of an abnormal immune system - there is no such thing as weak or strong immune system, as normally made out by the conventional medical faternity. Even our Homoeopathic father, never advocated anywhere in the organon about the immune system being weak or strong.
An abnormal immune system malfunctions for some hormonal system / glands, i.e. some hormonal glands function in hyper mode and some hormonal glands may function in hypo mode. This is applicable to all ages (from infant to old age) and normally they do all the time. Some people do not contract cold, some people do contract cold, inspite of living in the same infectious environment and atmosphere. Check blood Iron levels and supplimenting it appropriately will help in better oxygen metabolism, ultimately leading to optimum functioning of the immune system. Check for dry cold ear interiors n keep oiled cotton plugs when travelling against the wind or cold wave.
Here's some alternatives, which will help in the case :
1. Organic Vitamin-C, 250mg just before ever meals - for a long time.
2. Turmeric powder (half teaspoon) + Black pepper powder (2 big pinchful) + Organic Honey (2 teaspoon. Mix everything throughly with a finger, and slurp (lick) the finger, till solution over. Do it morning - empty stomach and Night - just before sleeping. Do it for months together.
3. Bio-Chemic : Ferr.Phos-2X + Calc.Phos-3X + Kal.Mur-6X ..... four tablets of each in half cup of hot water - sipped real slowely. Do it 3-4 times a day for many weeks.
4. Homoeopathically : Psorinum-1M. For repeated cold n cough complaints. Sort of provides immunity to cold n cough problems. Long acting medicine with delayed action. Works when most constitutional remedies do not give desired results. Four drops of the liquid Psorinum-1M, directly on clean scrapped tongue, once every fifteen days (only two doses), every second year.
5. Homoeopathically : Kali.Carb-30C, one drop every four hours till symptoms persist.
6. Fresh Ginger juice (half teaspoon) + Organic honey (2 teaspoon) mixed throughly - taken repeatedly helps - though only temporarily.
7. In case of High fever - Keep Ice bag on Navel area (stomach pit) for five minutes - the temperature drops immediately by more than one degree. Do not attempt repeatedly.
This helps keep away the Cold n Cough.
1. Sun Bath for atleast 60 minutes, with as much body skin exposed as possible.
2. Warm water bag on the crown of the head for 5 minutes - 1 or 2 times daily - ONLY for worst / highly acute cases.
3. Spot jogging with both hands reaching the heavens. 5-10 minutes once daily is sufficient.
4. Inhaling hot steam vapours of winter-green oil put in water bowl - Acute cases only.
5. Avoid sleeping directly under the ceiling fan and keep away the head crown position from direct impact of the air flow like air-conditioners, water coolers, windows breeze or table fans.
Diet and Nutrition :
1. Keep away from Milk and Milk products like Yogurt (Curddled milk), Cream n cheese.
2. Colored Vegetables Soup with Nutmeg powder + Black pepper powder (a asian spice), two pinches of each, per servings, infused in it, just before every meals..
3. Keep away from Sodium rich foods - like Salt, Sugar, Rice, Wheat, Aerated drinks, breweries alcohol, junk foods, bakery products and so on ...
4. Increase Pottasium rich foods like Millets, Dates, Banana, Sweet lime, Almonds, Oats, Jaggery made out of date plant juices and so on.
5. Home made Red Wine.
6. Soup made out of par-boiled red rice.
As it is Cold are really never permanent. The body keeps on developing anti-bodies against the cold, in turn keeps on tuning n adjusting the immune system thereby resisting cold at newer levels.

Above sounds good, I think I will print out and study more.
Since last posting I have found a chinese remedy that seems good for colds that return over and over.
Yin Chiao (chieh tu Pien) Call health stores and check. Worth a try. I don't recommend it for children too young for school.
Blessings, Sabra
