Alternatives to antibiotics
Dear Homeopathic docs,I am a mother of 7 months old, I am really concerned that anti biotics suggested to my child during certain kind of infection (he has had stomach , throat ,bronchital infection)effect the alimentary canal,immunity and appetite of the child, adversely.Is there an alternative to anti biotics ? and within how much time is it effective , if infection prevails?

Hi there,can u be more specific with his diagnosis that the earlier doctors have made or give me some more details of all his problems like onset, duration of the complaint and any associated symptoms . Accordingly, medicines can be prescribed, as u know homeopathy medicines have no side effects and they also help build the immunity of the body.

When my son was 5 months of age , he had bronchital infection which was accompanied with wheezing and dry cough . The paed recommended giving steroid through nebulizer , I did not , I just made him saline water steam and hamdard medicine ,banafshah shehtoot,it is an anti expectorant , a unani medicine,I am really not in favor of anti biotics and that too for a growing baby.Well it was cured , alot of mucous was eliminated due to this medicine.
When he was six months , allergy tests alongwith other routine tests were done.He was tested with high levels of allergy.The doctor says that , he will have to be monitored every winters until April.If he has wheezing or any flue etc. he will be put on anti biotics and nebulizing steroid.
I am really not in favor of the above. Help as his allergy levels are high .

Your question would be answered more properly by a doctor/practitioner and I am not a doctor.
But I can say that I have recently consulted a local homeopath for the low immunity of my daughter who is 6+ years.
As such she had no particular problem due to which one could call her 'sick' or 'ill'. But every now and then she would have stomach problem, earlier ENT problems and all in all low weight, low stamina, low strength, etc.
I had laready been giving her homeopathic med since she was born but my doctor was in another city. At times I found that she did not used to respond well even to wel selected medicines.
Finally after some survey I felt that one particular (hom) doctor might be good for her and we have started her medicines.
I think that 'allergy', 'bronchitis', 'amoebiosis', etc. are not interesting names. Most children have these troubles. Some go to the (allopathic) doctors and come back with these specific labels. While other suffer (less) without the fearful names. The key thing is that those who have good vitality/immunity come out of all this easily.
I am not against allopathy. It is quite suitable for people with good vitality.
Coming to my comments on your query, it would be good to discuss the case of your child in totality with a 'really good' homeopath and the problems would be solved.

Let me add one more thing. I support and appreciate your attitude for avoiding the use of steroids for your child and your efforts to avoid antibiotics.
I see many such people around me and I too am one of them.
The only thing is that I feel that we should not be highly afraid of antibiotics. In absence of any other treatment and/or in some sort of emergency, if somebody takes antibiotics once in 10 to 12 months, I feel it is ok. But still we should keep searching fo better solution like homeopathy.

Dear Sci spi,
I live in a big joint family , my nephew suffers from intense cough at nights . The docs have recommended nebulizing him with ventolin(anti biotic ) from October straight to April .He is being nebulized each and everyday without failure.Constant weight loss and dullness is witnessed in this child.Obviously it is the parents' who decide what medicine has to be administered to their child and they do not agree to homeopathy.I am quite apprehensive as my child's allergy levels are high and even come genetically from his paternal side .That is why I want to administer him with homeopathy ,eventhough by grace of God Almighty , he is not suffering right now but winter season will be approaching down the lane .I would also like to administer my child some home remedies and I am really apprehensive .I hope if you have some good ones ,please do share .

I would have loved to help you with some home remedies but I have found that these things don't go far. We keep on switching between the different remedies and overall there is not much difference because the entire case has not been taken (by a very good doctor).
I have tried this on myself, my daughter and other family members. It helps only occassionally.
I have studied homeopathy to en extent and tried a lot, esp. on myself but when there are tough cases and/or cases of low vitality insufficient expertise and knowledge doesn't work.
Also I do not know that much about medicines for what we call 'allergies'.
Lastly, I am not a person of medicine.
I myself have stopped going to homeopaths because I find none to be expert enough. I do not have the energy, patience, familywise freedom and probably money to go far away to some homeopath....
My case is tough but I am sure curable. If some doctor has research interest in my case I am ready to present myself for my treatment in R&D mode.
But nobody seems to be doing anything near research in homeopathy.

When my son was :
1 month old: he was given an anti biotic (cefspan)as he had fever and infection in stomach.According to his paed, it was because of water he might have consumed when bathing.He was consuming water with top feed.He is on top feed since beginning as not much mother milk was generated(genetic).he was mild colic after this water infection finished.I gave him infacol,until that time I was not literate in homeopathy.
His allergy levels have been tested high,it also runs genertically from paternal side.
Month 4: I started weaning him with soup etc. but he had alot of acidity that he woke up frequently at night.His paed gave him antacidity.But then once it's effect finished , he had it . so I gave him bioplasgen#25.It really worked , his crankiness was really finished.
Unlike most paediatricians these days, I started weaning him at four months , whereas docs say not until six months.
When he was 5and a half months, he had bronchital infection, but since he did not have fever, he was saved from the dose of anti biotic,but the doctor did give him clenil campA(steroid) to inhale through nebulizer, well I did not give him,Instead I gave him banafshah shehtoot(anti expectorant) really worked in removing all the mucous in his respiratory track.he had wheezing , and dry cough(not that frequent) in this infection.We did get his xray done.there was a small patch in his right lung of the infection.By grace of God Almighty,it was cured.i also gave him chicken soup .Also gave him saline water steam.
I am now weaning him to all kinds of food cooked in the house .like roti etc.
when he was 6 and a half , he had diarrhea for a week. i thought ,it might be teething but he actually had parasites in his stomch , doc gave him anti parasital (15 doses ) I gave him 4 , he was fine.
Lately he is really scratching his right ear , really hard,dont know why, o also when he was 3 months he had teething pains , doc gave him bioplasgen 21, so off and on I do give him that as well,
His foot sole remains really sweaty , winter or summer .
I guess this is it that I can highlight.If any particular questions I would be pleased to answer .

Ok. consult us for time to time ailment. However you can give him Five phoses of Wilmar Schewebe ( 2 grain twice a day for 2/3 weeks or as and when required)as general tonic for imunity system boostup.
