Help for Drug-induced bloodshot eyes

Hi.

3 months ago I had to go through an antibiotic treatment with a really strong medication - Avelox from the quinolone class of chemotherapetics. The nasty drug manifested itself with many side effects, most of which have subsided except for the bloodshot eyes.

My symptom is:

The blood vessels in the whites of my eyes are dillated, thus giving a bloodshot appearance. I'm absolutely sure that the condition is due to the quionole antibiotic, as my eyes had always been white prior to that and as I noticed the change exactly when the treatment was taking place.

It's neither allergic conjunctivitus, nor it's caused by bacteria. The doctor diagnosed it as dry chronic conjunctivitus.

There's no pain, eyes don't feel dry. The condition gets worse at morning when I wake up and after staring at the computer for too long, but I'd had a computer for 6 years before this thing happened and I swear, my eyes never got red. Not looking at the computer doesn't solve the problem. For expample a while ago I was on a vacation for one week. No PC's, it was all about nature. The redness never disappears.

There is a slight photofobia when I go out in the sun, but I doubt that's the reason for the redness, as sometimes I don't go out for days, and eyes are still red.

The redness is located on both corners of eyes - inner and outter. It looks like red spider nets. It's really non-flattering and socially limitating. I feel embarrassed whenever I talk to somebody, as I know they notice my red eyes and who knows what they think.

I tried to find what the best remedy for this problem is, but I can't really make a final choice. Too many options pop up. Argentum Nitricum, Belladonna, Euphrasia, Sulphur, Antimonium Crudum etc.

So, I'm asking a more experienced person to give me advice. Please, help me, I'm totally losing it.

Hi.

Thank you for replying, Neil. :)

Could you please give instructions for dosage. And I'm really interested to know what made you chose these two remedies out of so many, do you have any personal experience regarding this problem?

Thanks again.

Hi

In a case of drug-induced troubles, homeopathic or allopathic, it is always advisable to begin with Nux Vomica in low potency to antidote the effects of those medicines.

Your problem MAY go away with Nux itself, if it does not, Arnica is indicated by your symptoms and should be curative.

Best wishes

Thanks for explaining, now I understand.

Can you please suggest the dosage of the remedies and how long I should take them.

Thank you!!!

Oh ok. I just saw your last post.

Are these remedies only in one form, I mean should I buy liquid form or the little granule form ones?

Please take three wet doses of Nux Vomica 6c separated by 20 minutes each, preferably in morning.

You can check the method of preparing the wet dses in my other posts.

No more doses have to be taken. Don't take any Arnica now.

Report in three days.

In dilution.

I searched in your other posts and found the method:

'Method of preparing wet dose:

Dissolve 3-4 drops from the remedy bottle in 250 ml of spring water. Shake the solution about 8-10 times. One teaspoon from the new solution is one dose.'

So, I have to take 3 tea spoons separated by 20 minutes each.

Thank you so much, Neil. I will report 3 days after I get Nux Vomica.

The traditional medicine damaged my body!! I'm so mad at the doctor who prescribed this hideous antibiotic-poison. And now the ophtalmologist suggests cortico steroid drops for my eyes, which I am not willing to try because I'm aware of the severe side effects of the corticosteroids - catharacts, thining of the retina etc. That's why I decided to turn to homeopathy because traditional medicine screwed me big time.

Hi, doctor Neil.

I went to my local parmacy to get Nux Vomica, but it turned out they don't have 6c. They had 5c.

Is it ok if I buy 5c or should it be exactlly in 6c form?

Also, is it ok I if take vitamins? Because after being toxicly damaged by this strong chemoterapeutic I started a vitamin/supplement regime in order to boost my body's natural ability of repairing itself.

Looking forward to your reply.

5c would do. You can go ahead with the vitamin supplement.

Hi, Dr. Neil. I got Nux Vomica but in granule (little pill) form. Is that ok?

So now I have to put 3-4 of these granules in 250 ml of spring water and shake. One teaspoon of the new solution is one dose, is that right?

Thanks

yea. that's right.

OMG!! My eyes are getting redder!!!!! :((( I took the Nux Vomica, as you prescribed. I don't know if it's because of that, I doubt it, but new blood vessels are appearing in my eyes. Oh, God, I'm crying now... I don't know what's going on.

Hi, Niel.

My eyes are better, not as good as before I got poisoned, but definitely a bit better.

Several times they got extremely red and I had to use the corticosteroid drops that the ophtalmologist prescribed to calm the inflammation down, but still they wouldn't get rid of all the blood vessels, so it appears the problem is vascular. The drug has dilated my blood vessels.

Thanks for your help.

Hi. How are you with the eyes? I have been suffering from MGD aka meibomian gland dysfunction which if you are not aware a condition on the eyelids not producing quality oil which as a result causes extreme eye irritation, dryness and BLOODSHOT eyes. How are you with the remedies that was suggested on your post? Find any solutions?

Hi. My eyes are much better.

It turned out I was suffering from dry eyes syndrome and MGD. Sometimes my M. glands still get blocked and appear as little lumps/pimples on my eye lids.

I visited a professional homeopath. She prescribed Argentum Nitricum. We first started with a dose of 50m (yeah, quite high I know...) and then another dose 2 weeks later. Then in 2 weeks 1m, then in another two weeks 1m. And from this moment on I went for the smaller dilutions. Everytime I was taking the drug a few days layter (2-3 days) my eyes were getting redder, but that was a good sign - that the drug was working. The drug helped. I couldn't belive it, but it helped. MY eyes are much better right now, sometimes they still get dry and irrated when I'm tired or in front of the pc for too long, but it's much better than 1 year ago. :)

Thanks for the reply Dido85. I am new with this homeopathy approach. One of the reasons why I ended up getting this MGD and dry eyes is through my courses of 3 treatments of accutane for my acne. One of the side effects of the medication was dry eyes and at the time my main concern was my skin and a bit ignored the dryness since my last two treatments my eyes were fine until my last when everything went down hill. I have been suffering from MGD/Dry eyes for almost 4 years now and it has really been a challenge. I have tried several approaches such as intense pulse light treatment to help with the blockage on the eye lids and nothing has every worked. Anyway, do you have a personal email so that we can exchange contact information. Perhaps we can chat sometime and share some of our experiences. Thanks

Accutane is pure poison. I've heard about lots of people who've suffered from it.

I have two more advices that I can share with you:

1. Hot baths for your eye lids - when my eyes were at their worst state, all red and dry someone told me about these hot baths. You need just a little piece of cloth and boiling water. You soak the cloth in the water and then you apply it to your eye lids. It's annoying at first but once you're used to it - it's fine. The hot temperature makes and m.glands dilate and ublocks them. Also the high temp kills any bacteria and bacteria is a problem with dry eyes. I apply these cloths for 5-10 mins, for a few mins after that you eyes are redder because of the heat, but in 15 minutes they look much better and are much more moisturized.

2. Buy the supplement Omega 3. You can read about it on the net. Omega 3 is found in fish, it's an essential fatty acid and one of the hundreds benefits it has is that it helps with dry eyes. Just type 'Omega 3' and 'dry eyes' in google, and you'll see... It helps tremendeously, my eyes were so bad that sometimes I had to take like 4 grams a day (which made my hairs grow like crazy lol). 2 capsules a day is totally fine. Now I can manage without most of the time, I take one when I;m tired/under big stress.

Try this remedies, I'm sure you'll be satisfied! Good luck and stay away from accutane and quinolone antibiotics (the drugs that poisoned me, they cause this sh*t, too)
