Sulpur and my 2 year old's eczema

I have recently taken my son to a homeopathic doctor who gave him sulphur tablets for his severe chronic eczema. We have also radically changed his diet (for the better). It's been 4 months without really much progress. Anyway, I decided to give him Nature Plus Multivitamin and Mineral Supplement to assist with his health. The bottle says not to use with sulfonamide since PABA interferes with the activity of the drug. Does anyone know if sulfonamide is in any way related to the sulfur he is taking?

PS. He has also been given psorinum and medhorrinum to no avail - we are still trying - any suggestions would be appreciated. Thanks

This is just a forum. Assume posts are not from medical professionals.
I do not agree with multi-vitamins. If the person is sensitive to one, how does one know which, as it seems the person is sensitive to the whole tablet? Babies should not be given a large number of vit. Begin with a few to monitor results. Your choice.

Sulpha/sulfonamilde from allopathic doctors would not go well is what it means.

Homeopathic Sulphur has the same beginnings, but that is where it ends. The manufacture of homeopathic Sulphur makes it entirely different.

A person that is sensitive to allopathic Sulpha meds will not have a bad reaction to homeopathic of the same.

Please stop all vaccinations. These have been causing many skin conditions in little ones.

You did not describe the eczema. We cannot suggest if we do not have it to read.

Blessings, Sabra

Thanks so much for your reply.

You may have misunderstood. I have no intention of giving him sulfonamide I don't even know what that is. I just happened to read on his mulit-vitamin that the two can't be mixed and I wasn't sure if the homeopathic sulfur was in any way related.

We have already stopped the vaccinations (last one was given over a year ago). lso stopped any cortisone creams, medicines etc. over 5 months ago.

Eczema is bad all over calves, behind knees, front top of feet, inside elbows, wrists, back of neck and behind ears. It's the worst on his face right now -his cheeks and neck- homeopathic doctor says not to put anything at all on it including any moisturizers even if its homeopathic. His skin is extremely dry, flaky, oozes and bleeds sometimes when he scratches - the sulphur helps the itching but so far has not helped it visually. I'm starting to loose my patience and my hope that the homeopathic way will work for him. It's killing me to watch him like this.

Diet is mostly fruits and vegatables, all organic meat and food. He's allergic to milk, soy, wheat, peanuts, dust mites, dander and more (according to blood tests from allergists). We have air purifiers, humidifiers, use chemical free cleaners and detergents - all the typical stuff - but nothing seems to help.

Any suggestions would be great. Thanks.

Non medicated lanolin cream is fine for moisturising. BUT do NOT wash the skin. eczema HATES water and it will make it worse. Use a non medicated oily cleanser - although the lanolin may be ok for that.
Do not know what potency of Sulphur is being used but quite often the lower potencies will aggravate and its better to use single doses of hi potency . Say either 1m or 10m . one dose and wait a week.

Thanks for the tip. He has been using 30c and 200c on and off. It usually helps the itching for about 5 days then comes back. My doctor gave me Sulfur 1M but hasn't recommended giving it yet. I will try it though - I have nothing left to lose at this point. I did start using a moisturizer like you said and that alone has helped tremendously. Face still looks very bad, but not as scaly and scabby.

Thanks for you reply - any suggestions are worth gold to me right now. I want so badly to put on some of his prescription cortisone cream just so I can see him look normal again. But I'm doing my best to refrain. Thanks again.

Hey you are doing well kep it up.

Peas are related to peanuts so do not give peas.

Have you checked if the sun is not harmful to him also?

Are you aware that even "natural" things, even aromatherapy can harm someone very badly? There is always an exception to people thinking that no natural substance can harm.

He needs to be removed from the home while the vacuming and dusting and bed changing is occuring. Send on a drive or something so he will be back when the "dust settles."

I have a friend that screams for hours if she accidently is around or breathes rubbing alcohol.

My son was allergic to all "green" foods until he was about 8. Raised on Homeopathy.

You have done an admirable job of evaluating your son.

You might try one dose of MEZEREUM 1M. Wait and see, let us know.

In which season is this eczema worse. ie is it worse in Summer/Winter/Rainy days etc. ?

kuldeep last decade
When Sulphur matches the symptoms, eczema responds very fast (in 12 to 25 hours) i.e. either relief comes or itching or problem gets worse. In both cases the medicine is assumed to be working.

I have had some success with Arnica 30 for a chronic case of Eczema. If other remedies have not had any positive effect in your son's case I would suggest that you use it for a few days.

Arnica increases the blood flow in the capillaries and I believe that this is how the eczema was cured as the flow of blood under the skin was increased.

Thank you for all of your replies.

His eczema seems best in the summer and worst in the winter.

Still no improvement. He had a severe allergic reaction after accidentally getting a bite of my 4 year old's fish sticks.

I was almost at the hospital, but decided to call his homeopathic dr. first. He gave him Apis Mell 1M two times and finally the hives slowly went away.

Anyway, after that episode we've just been taking it easy. His eczema looks terrible. I'm started to get hopeless here.

I made an appointment with a Nutritionist that practices the NAET technique. Any one have any feedback on that? It's a technique that supposedly can elimate allergies?............I'm just getting desperate I want to help my son so badly.

Thanks for all your support.

Since Eczema is worse behind the folds ie. behind knees, elbows, on the neck. I believe it is a graphites case not the Sulphur.

You read carefully:

Over the last six months the eczema has actually been it's worst on different spots at different times. First at the folds of this legs and arms and tops of his feet. Then that got a bit better and it moved mostly to his thighs and groin area. Then that got better. Now it's at it's worst on his face - his cheeks under his chin, all around his neck and behind his ears. He still has a coulple of large patches on his legs, but not as bad as in the past and not so much in the folds anymore. Do you still suggest graphites now that it's concentrated on the face?

As bad as it's gotten over the past few months - it's the hardest for me to handle right now because it's on his face - it breaks my heart to look at him.

I read the forum you posted - thanks. I'll be keeping up on that to see how it goes.

From what I've been reading, it looks like I don't really need to be spending all this money on a homeopathic doctor if I can just order the remedies myself. Is there any danger in venturing off on my own with this? I wouldn't want to mess anything up.

As I mentioned before, he has many many food allergies and sensitivities which I believe are the underlying cause of his eczema. We're taking him to a Nutritionist to try to get a handle on that, is it still safe to continue with these remedies at the same time? Also, how often do you suggest trying a remedy before switching? He's been taking the sulfur for 5 months now. Can I assume it's not working? He wasn't taking it every day - more like every week or two - only when the itching got very bad.
(as per Dr.'s advice). Could it be that he needs to take it more often?

If Sulphur is not working, it is just not working. Now is the time to move on.

I encourage you to study homeopoathy and do any experiment you want to do. That's how people come into homeopathy.

I advise to people with eczema to lick a pencil two times a day. Some times their eczema is not of Graphites nature but still I advise this thing against all odds.

You can continue any other medicine and also licking pencil will do.

Need not to spend on Graphites.

kuldeep last decade
Thanks.

The pencil idea sounds silly to me, but I will try it. I'm willing to try anything at this point. As long as it can hurt him - it's worth a shot in my book.

If I happen to see some improvement, would you then suggest that I get the actual Graphites remedy?

Who cares about actual. Actual is in Pencils.

Hi, I have a son also with eczema and severe itching. I have been doing a lot of research into it. We think it may have been caused by a vitamin K injection or some sort of toxicity.

Does your boy have an allergy to dairy products or things high in sulphur? such as coconut, garlic, onions? If he does, maybe this is why your homeopath took the decision to give you sulphur as like treats like in homeopathic terms. Anyway if you think your boy has had an adverse reaction to vitamin K or that he suffers from dairy allergies or both please contact me -

I have a boy with the same condition and I have a lot of research to share with you and hope you may have some findings to share with me.

Sorry, I haven't had much time for the computer lately. I'm still here... I've been to the emergency room with my son twice in the last two weeks. Once for a reaction to chamomille tea (mostly just sever hives) and a second time for either being outside while my husband mowed the lawn or because my neighbor was staining his deck - or maybe a little of both. But that reaction was much worse - lots of wheezing, heart rate went down to 50 bpm. etc. Anyway, It's been a long few weeks.

Answer to siggy79 - yes he has allergy to milk and many many other sensitities/allergies to foods and chemcials.

Have recently (about 1 month) started taking him to a nutritionist that practices the NAET technique (let me know if you are familiar with that, if not www.naet.com). So far I have seen some improvement in his eczema and also seems less sensitive to most foods. We'll see if he keeps improving. It's a slow process but I'm hanging in there.

old son also has eczema and I just started the
homeopathic treatment.

Any advice you can provide will be very helpful.

thanks

I notice that I had posted my success with Arnica in February 2005 on this thread a year ago, shortly after I first discovered that it helped to cure Eczema.

Since that time I have treated many patients one of them an 88 year old man who had suffered from Eczema since age 15. He used Arnica 30c for another ailment connected with his back pain and discovered that in just about 10 days that his chronic Eczema for which he had been using drugs including steroids for years, was suddenly no more. The itching had stopped at first and with it the scaly oozing skin had filled in and he is now prefectly OK.

He still continues with the Arnica in the liquid dose twice daily.

The liquid dose is made by inserting 3 globules of Arnica 30 into a 500ml bottle of spring water which is shaken hard to aerate it before each dose which comprises a teaspoonful which is sipped twice or thrice daily.

Results can usually be observed within a week when the itching stops.

This remedy is prefectly safe and can be given to children with confidence.

You should try Graphites 30C in summer months. Hepar 30/200C really helps the dry skin and scalp in the winter. I'm right now dealing with my 6 month old son's eczema. This is what my homeopath has recomended so far. I'm breast feeding my baby. I started solids a month back. I also have noticed that when I give green vegetables, his condition is aggrevated.I'm applying Aquaphore on his face and limbs several times a day. My son also had constipation since he was 3 months old. I gave him Silicea and Thuja (alternately for 3 days each). My doctor told me that all these rashes are caused by the vaccinations he has had. Since I cannot do without vaccinations, my doctor suggested to give thuja or silicea for 3 days immediately after vaccination. This has helped in keeping the rashes under check.
