fingernail disorder

I have a raised ridge growing down my left thumbnail in the middle since 1988. Had removed and said swollen tissue underneath. I don't think it is a splinter hemmorage and I don't have heart problems that I know of. Fingernail came off from eating disorder in 1983 but don't remember injuring it. Does anyone else have this and is there hope for a cure and what is/causes this? Thanks.

I like exercising, dining out, animals. I have 70 lbs to lose-doing Jenny Craig. I also have stretchmarks I am trying to get rid of. I am single wanting to marry someday. Wanted to be self employed but never happened. Was bullied in 1983 at work and have had VERY hard time healing from it. Tend to be quit and conservative, but can have bad temper if provoked. I see the world as trouble but I cannot change it.
