shelf life

What is the shelf life of a homeopathic remedy? I have a kit that I have had for probably 15-20 years. Of course it has been kept in a dark, cool cupboard. How long do remedies stay effective? Also, I have taken 200cc's of a remedy for anxiety. I know I need to not drink coffee and use mint toothpaste. But, for how long should I refrain from using these?? Should I stay off of them completely?

Thanks,

In theory homeopathic medicine has limitless shelf life. As you use these remedies you will be able to judge whether they have retained their effectiveness.

As a thumb rule for a 200c remedy, you should observe the restrictions for 15 days.
Remedies like arnica act for a duration of not more than one week. But remedies like silicea may operate for two months. If the remedy has been able to stimulate the vital force earlier and the purpose is served, the restrictions may be relaxed.

Thanks, kadwa!

I went off of my antianxiety meds last Oct. and have since have taken 200cc's of arsenicum album for anxiety. I have ordered 200cc/dosage of Nitricum Acidum to help with some other aspects of anxiety. (Extreme irritability, worse in the morning, depression, anxiety about health, etc.) My homepathic practioner left to live in Russia so I am on my own for this. I have the Desktop Guide by Morrison. I am hoping N.A. will help.If I understand you correctly I can continue to use mint toothpaste-just not within one hour of taking the remedy (I am assuming about 12 pellets would be the dosage?) After a few weeks of letting the remedy 'sink in' I could possibly drink coffee again? Thanks for your response!

Coffee does not antidote ars or nit acid. It is a good idea to let the remedy sink in. In chronic cases where coffee antidotes the remedy it is safe to avoid coffee totally. My above answers are valid for acute cases.
