Left Side Paralysis

Hi,

My Mother is 62 and is suffering from left side paralysis. with the course of time she started walking with difficulties however her left hand does not work atall. She is not able to take alopathic medicines any more - she vomits it. She is also facing neuro problems - eg she forgets which foot to use to move forward, she is highly insured (she is scared of loosing my brother and as him to be around always). she crys for no reason. The doctor has suggested us to give her MSBP for blood pressure and in uncontrolable situation she also takes disprin. Kindly suggest if you can help her. Also if you could suggest is leaving alopathic treatment a right step as she is not able to take alopathic medicine.

Thanks and regards,
Preeti

Hey preeti,
Your mother seems to have upper motor neuron lesion, which will eventually end up like these kind of paralysis, can you please specify more symptoms of her mental state like you said insecure, fears anxieties etc to qualify the condition, also stopping alopathic medications are not the right choice, because those medicines given to these conditions are called life saving drugs and they cannot be stopped all of a sudden once you start taking homepahtic medicine, and then when your mother gets adapted with this medicine, she will be controlled of blood pressure, that is the time we can taper the doses of alopathic medicine and then eventually stop them.
so describe the problems i will get you a better medicine.

Dear Dr. Bagyavasan.k,

Thank you for replying.

My mother has a history of BP from more then 15 yrs. 11 yrs back when my father passed away, she could not take that pain and fall ill big time. during the initial yrs after my father passed away, she used to get fits while crying for my dad. we got her treated and she recovered within 5-6 months but always had that bp problem and whenever her bp use to shoot it use to affect her heart - she used to have pain in her chest but on 26 oct 2007 she was sleeping and when my brother woke her for dinner she complaint of ppain in her legs. we assumed it to be BP and took her to the doctor where she was diagnosed as blood clot in her brain and was hospitalised. she was in ICU of 17 days with 21 days in total hospitalisation. She was not able speak and was restless, the doctors had to tie her right limbs as she had hurt herself due to restlessness. after coming back from hospital the doctor suggested physiotherapy and arounf 11 tablets a day. which she took for another 3 months and then the doctor asked to stop those medicine and give her only msbp which she is continously taking once a day. the physiotherapist used to come for 1 year and help her do some exercises which gave her a lot of pain. the therapist also tried accuapuncture but my mother could not take that pain and was not able to sleep the entire night because of pain so we stopped accuapuncture after 3 days. with the therapy she is now able to walk with difficulty - she get tired after walking for 3-5 minutes. the good thing is that she is able to climb stairs and get down the stairs with anyones support with the help of her walking stick. her hand does not move atall. it is very tight and needs force to open however it pains less as compare to the past 6 months. Talking of her neuro condition. we ar

Dear Preeti,
Thanks for the discription and i understand that all these problems started precisely after the death of your father, well keeping this in mind and also the contracture of the limbs i suggest you give the following medicines and keep me posted every 3 days.

nat mur 1M (liquid 4-6 drops) only one dose early morning empty stomach.

causticum 30 (liquid 4-6 drops) three times a day, morning, afternoon and night.

kali phos 6x (2-0-2) 2 tablets in the morning and 2 at night.

you will have to continue there medicines but report to me once in every three days about the changes.

Also remember out of the blue we cannot revert the paralytic changes and other structural dearrangements, but will improve gradually, the main changes you will see are like the changes in the mental level, of insecurity, forgetfullness, crying etc, i would rather ask you to see if there is difference in the stiffness of the limb in these three days. if you get any one change then your mother is responding fast and a recovery will be seen sooner.
Thanks.

Dear preeti,
As you had said she is hypertensive, she will have to avoid oily food and red meat, and reduce salt, other than this if anything that is not accepted by her she will have to avoid, otherwise no other restrictions.
Take care.

Dear Dr. Bagyavasan.k,

Thank you for all your guidence.

Sir as per your suggestion she has taken the prescriped medicine for 3 days and we can see changes in her. She herself is feeling improvements as : 1) she says she does not feel any pain while walking as she use to prior to taking this medicine.
2) there is a little (minimal) movement in her hand as well.
3) we have noticed, that she does not repeat word as frequently as she use to do.
4) she is not nervous while speaking
Most important she is able to take these medicines without any problem.

kindly suggest for the further treatment.

Thanks and regards,
Preeti

Glad to know that the your mother is responding. And the pain factor is a massive change i would suggest you to take the medicines for another month in the same way as you did now.
The initial 15 days mark is for the assessment of your mothers sensitivity, so she is doing good, continue the medicines. do keep me posted if any changes in the meanwhile.
Thanks
