13 month battling 4th ear infection
My 13 month old is just getting over his 4th ear infection...He was born 5 weeks early and has been in daycare since he was 5 months...I'm worried about all the antibiotics...seems that every cold (i.e. runny nose, cough, congestion) turns into an ear infection...child does not act in pain at all, our indicators are when congestion does not go away after a few days and usually has a fever...I had ear infections as a child until my mom had something suggested by a homeopathic doctor which helped remedy the infections...she does not remember what it was past the fact that it was a pill that disolved under the tongue daily...Please help..Herb119 on 2005-02-16

We are working on this. As you see there are several similar postings. We seem to have a run of young children with reoccuring ear infections.
The difficult part is to not group them together. We would like to try to treat them as individuals.
Please write more about child's personality. Likes and dislikes. Do both sides same, or one side more? Any colic or other aggrivations?

My son is very easy-going...we're very lucky...like I said, if it wasn't for the fever we'd never know he was sick...he doesn't get grumpy or fussy at all...another indicator to us has been that he'll sleep more than usual and will get clingy or want to be held more when he doesn't feel well...He is very active and loves to play and talk (well babble)...the ear infections have been back and forth from ear to ear, not prevelant in one more than the other...our pediatrician also has him on an inhaler (QVar) to help w/ the congestion in his chest...he said this would help keep the breathing and sinus cavities clear to prevent fluid from backing up and causing infections...but again, feel a little uneasy about over-medicating...

I am torn between two remedies. Because of the good nature of your child, I suggest FERRUM PHOS first.
Get 200X or near about, and give him one dose every two hours for one day. During the day, and only if he awakens at night. Do not awaken a child for a dose, unless they are seriously ill.
Give three doses the second day. Please let us know.
The second possible remedy is Calc Fluorica, but do not give together. I wanted to write it here in case it is needed. NOT to give right away. I have too many notes as it is and this is a record.
