The ABC Homeopathy Forum

Diagnosed with Interstitial cystitis

I was Diagnosed with Interstitial cystitis 5 years ago. Since then I have stayed away from acidic foods, and try to eat a gluten-free and non-processed foods diet.
But I still get flare-ups in the vaginal region along with UTI or bladder infections. It seems to worsen before and after my period. And almost always with intercourse. I wonder if this is emotionally connected or not. I was abused physically, mentally, and sexually as a child. It seems like my condition worsens when I am under intense stress. I am not on a birth control, or any medication for that matter. I take a Bladder/Kidney meridian opener to help. But it only helps sometimes. Any information would help. I would love to rid myself of this condition. Thank you for you time, and all your efforts!

***First off thank you very much for replying. I'm full of graditude for your time spent with me! Thank you!***

Female, 27

1. Describe your main suffering? Sudden onsets of a bladder infection/UTI/Yeast infections, uncomfortable, sometimes painful sex, and frustrations of feeling unhealthy no matter what I do.

2. What other physical sufferings do you have in your body?

My immune system is seems down. I catch colds quite easy when I have flare-ups.

I hold on to weight. I’m not overweight at all. But I am very physically active, and I eat a clean diet but I still maintain an extra 10-15 lbs of weight not needed.

I use to feel really cloudy and have a hard time concentrating before I choose to eat a gluten-free diet.

I tend to get really dizzy when I sit up quickly I have very low blood pressure. Average is 96/50.

My ears constantly ring or from time to time muffle sounds out.

I’m having constipation regularly, and take supplements to regulate it.

3. What mental sufferings / feelings do you have associated with your physical sufferings?

I have feelings of not being good enough a lot of the time. Sometimes I just feel like my symptoms will never go away, and that somehow I’m doing something not right. I just want to feel healthy.

4. What exactly do you feel when you are at your worst?

I’m going to die, because of the excruciating pain. I feel intense burning and stinging before and after urinating, not necessarily while urinating though. I feel extreme bouts of tiredness. A lot of the time the pain travels to my back and the kidneys. I feel a lot of pressure on the abdomen and the lumbar region of my spine.

5. When did it all start? Can you connect it to any past event or disease?

Goodness, I can remember as a child around the age of 5 having similar pain and confusion. But I can’t tell you when it started; I noticed it at the extreme worst when I first became sexually active. Before then the symptoms seemed bearable and I just thought everyone experienced what I was going through. But once I was sexually active it became unbearable.

6. Which time of the day you are worst?

It depends if it’s before my periods I feel it first thing in the morning and throughout the whole day. But if I’m not on my period it progressively worsens by night.

7. What are the things which aggravate your suffering and which are those which ameliorate the same?

Emotional stress and Intercourse seems to really aggravate it the most.

Mostly alcohols, onions, tomatoes, tuna canned, are the worst….. And acidic foods and processed foods seem to at times aggravate me as well.

Yoga, stretching, light exercising all seem to lesson the symptoms. Lots of water and Kombacha teas help as well.

8. Do your think your sufferings have relation to any external stimuli (like, change of place) or any internal biological changes in the body, like, menses (in females)?

Oh absolutely sudden change, or life stresses effect me, and my period always creates symptoms of discomfort.

9. When do you feel better, during hot weather or cold weather, humid or dry weather?
I’ve never really noticed. I do know that I can only tolerate the heat for so long. I’m a lot more active in warm weather rather then cold.

10. Describe your general mental set up? Are you Moody, Arrogant, Mild, Agreeable Changeable, Nervous, Suspicious, Easily offended, Quiet, Arguing, Irritating, Lazy etc.

I’m very passive yet outgoing; I always give to others and forget sometime about myself. (Which isn’t always good thing to do.) I’m a positive thinker in most circumstances.

But I tend to hold my emotions in for a long time, and blow up if I don’t express them as they come about. I’m not a short-fused person. But when I do get mad I get mad. I forgive very easily, but don’t always forget.

At time, If I’m not balanced, I to be easily offended and at times jealous. I do a lot of yoga to ground myself emotionally.

I’m a person who always feels everyone else’s emotions. I connect with others really easily because of this but I tend to take their problems on as my own.

- How do you feel before or during a thunderstorm? I can always tell when a storm is coming, I get really achy in my body.
- Do you like being consoled during your tough times? Sometimes if I’m down.
- Are you sensitive to external stimuli like smell, noise, light etc? Yes.
- Do you have any typical habit or gesture like nail biting, causeless - I do talk to myself sometimes.
weeping, talking to one self etc?
- How do you feel about your friends, family, your children and especially your husband / wife? –I feel insecure around my husband at times because of the interstitial cystitis. Around friends, family, and others I feel confident in myself and I’m usually out going. I make friends almost everywhere I go.

11. What are your fears and do you dream of any situation repeatedly?

I’m afraid of not being healthy. My family is very unhealthy and I don’t want to follow the same path as my family.

12. What do you crave for in food items and what are your aversions?

I crave cheese, and fruits. I eat meat rarely. If it’s been awhile since I had meat I will crave it.

I sometime crave sour foods, like green olives, and other times I avoid sour foods. Same thing with spicy at times I crave spice, and other times that’s the last thing I want.

13. How is your thirst: Less, Normal or Excessive? Normal, sometimes Excessive.

14. How is your hunger: Less, Normal or Excessive? Less, I’m hardly ever hungry in the morning or night. But definitely hungry at lunch.

15. Is there any kind of food which your body can’t stand? Squash.

16. Is your sweat normal or less or more? Where does it sweat more: Head, Trunk or Limbs?

Less, I work out so hard and hardly sweat. If I do it’s between my legs, sometimes my arms.

17. How is your bowel movement and stool type?

Sparingly, Hard, dry, round.

18. How well do you sleep? Do you have a particular posture of sleeping?

I sleep well. I fall asleep just as soon as my head hits the pillow. If I wake up nice and early I’m wide awake and ready to face the day. If I sleep in late I feel sick, heavy, and unrested.

19. Do you think you are able to satisfy your sexual desires in general? Not with the condition I’m dealing with right now.

20. What peculiar or strange sensation do you have in any part of your body at times? Do you sometimes feel ‘ as if…..’ in some part of the body?

21. What medications have been taken earlier by you to treat the diseases and do you have any particular symptom surfacing after the medication?

I was treated 4 years back with antibiotics that were taken daily for 1 year.

22. What major diseases are running in your family?

Hypothyroid, High blood pressure, Heart Disease, Endometriosis, Obesity, Diabetes, Ovarian Cancer, Immune disorders, Depression, Anxiety, and Fibromyalgia.

23. Describe, how do you look like? Describe your overall appearance.

5.5’ 135lbs. Medium build. Weight distributed heavier in lower body and arms. I have a small waist and chest. There is quite a bit of cellulite, spider veins and varicose veins on lower body.

My skin is thin, veins easily seen. My skin is healthy, soft, rarely breakout. I bruise easily. My scalp has always had problems with dandruff especially before the weather changes, and the seasons change.

My nails are soft and very brittle. They have always been that way.

I have big eyes, and brown thin but plentiful hair.

When winter comes my skin goes very dry and my face peels around my mouth, and my hands often dry out and crack.

please take SEPIA 30C every 4 hours when the suffering begins and keep taking it till you see a change in your sufferings.

incase the pain doesnt subside even after 24 hours, please stop the doses and watch for another 48 hours.

come back after 3 to 4 days of taking the remedy.

one dose would be 4 drops of remedy in some 10 ml of water slowly sipped up in empty stomach and clean mouth.

no food or water one hour before or after taking the remedy.

avoid sour, coffee, onions, garlic and mint for 3 days.

Thank you very much!

I looked up Sepia 30C at the health food store, and I can only find it in the sublingual form where it is dissolved under the tongue. Is this okay? Or does it need to be in drops?

I just started the Sepia 30C in pellet form. I have only taken one dose of 5 pellets so far. I'm so discouraged, Today my symptoms are extreme I cannot walk. And I just want to cry in agony. Also for some reason I am experiencing burning and itching in the anal region as well. But the uretha and vaginal pain is throbbing and stinging. I'm not sure if I need to take something else with this or not? Thank you for all of your help!

lulu1122 last decade
did the pain start after taking the first dose.

if yes, then you should not take SEPIA any more. just wait for the pain to subside.

if the extreme pain started earlier to taking SEPIA, you should take some doses till the pain subsided.

saline water wash will help.

if sepia doesnt help, you should take APIS MEL 30C every hour initially till the burning and stinging pain is there.

once the burning and stinging subsides a bit, you should lower the frequency to once every 4 to 6 hours.

APIS MEL will reduce your physical suffering.

if SEPIA helps you, a high potency of SEPIA will give long term relief.

My symptoms started before I took my first dose of the SEPIA.

I continued to take it every four hours today.

The symptoms are still the same. But I have noticed an increase of a fish smell with my urine, and a large amount of white discharge as I'm urinating.

lulu1122 last decade
please coninue for some doses till you get relief.

this is a curing process.

I've been taking the SEPIA for 3 days now. My symptoms are still the same and physically/emotionally hard to deal with.

Does it take a long time for relief to happen? Is it normal to have a smelly urine and white discharge once you start taking SEPIA?

Is that part of the curing process?

Thank you very much for helping through this whole process. I appreciate the time you have been spending with me.

lulu1122 last decade
please stop SEPIA 30C.

the pain and itch should have reduced by now.

i think, SEPIA is not the right remedy.

please take APIS MEL 30C every 4 hours as suggested earlier.

please report after 3 days.

as soon as the itch and burning reduces, you should stop APIS.

rishimba last decade
I took 2 days of APIS MEL and the symptoms worsened. I stopped taking APIS.

I feel like my symptoms have only become worse from taking SEPIA and then APIS MEL. I have not had symptoms last for this long and not found relief.

lulu1122 last decade
if your symptoms have got worse, its not a bad news at all.

at least, you found out that this remdy will work, if you take them in a lower potency.

please wait for a week and let the symptoms stabilise. if the symptoms do not cure after the aggravation, please try APIS MEL 12C every 4 hoursn for some 6 doses only.
