nightime cough in 12 month old

hi there. i recently posteda question regarding my son's gagging/vomiting nightime cough. after about a month, it seems that his cough is getting better now (finally!). now my 12 month old daughter started with it about 1 and 1/2 weeks ago. at first, she had a hard time falling asleep, but now, she falls right asleep, but wakes throughout the night due to a spasmodic cough that now goes on to the point that she almost gags. it sounds like there is only a slight bit of mucous in the lower part of her throat, maybe post-nasal drip? it doesn't seem to be too deep in the chest at all, but continues to wake her uo at night. we have all had this cough for just over a month now, and she is the last to get it. i think that it was a small cold that is hard to get rid of because of some environmental pollutants (i found a bit of mold arond our windows and blinds in our home and bedroom, and there has been a great deal of vog, aka volcano smog containing sulphur dioxoide, arsenic, etc...
i just want this cough to stop, so all of us can get a good nightime's rest. help!
