Dr Kadwa can you help with pilonidal abscess

Hi Dr. Kadwa,

Can you please help me. My boyfriend has had a pilonidal abscess for over 8 years and had 2 major surgeries. I think he may need an individualized plan. We can provide you with more details about his specific situation. He just finished taking antibiotics for his most recent flare up a couple of days ago and the infection is down but I know that the abscess is not gone completely and will likely come back as it has in the past.

Please help us.

Patient ID: Sex: Age: Male 29 years of age.

1. Describe your main suffering?

Continuous pilonidal abscess flare ups since 2002. I have had 2 surgeries one in 2002 and one in 2006 and my wounds have never healed from either of these surgeries. I am always in fear that I will never find a cure for this and that I will have to have another surgery

2. What other physical sufferings do you have in your body?

I am generally healthy but at times I have pain in my left or right hip. Feels like there is something maybe in the nerves but it comes and goes, a couple of times a year and it becomes hard to move my hips (e.g. when walking or getting up).

3. What mental sufferings / feelings do you have associated with your physical sufferings?

I have a sense of unhealthiness, feelings of helplessness and fear that it won’t go away and it is making me not enjoy my youth. My health is very important to me but I deal with it by suppressing it or trying to not to think about it. It’s preventing me from seeking help. My girlfriend is the one who pushes me to get help.

4. What exactly do you feel when you are at your worst?

Unhealthy, not motivated towards everything else in life. Sadness, hopelessness, fear.

5. When did it all start? Can you connect it to any past event or disease?

I had the chicken pocks at 19, I had a fever and lost a lot of weight and I don’t know if it is directly related or affected my immune system because within a year I began to get flare-ups and I took antibiotics for the flare-ups.

6. Which time of the day you are worst? When there are flare-ups there is localized pain, but when there is no flare-up there is discomfort, because I still have an open wound. I’m not really worse at a particular time of day.

7. What are the things which aggravate your suffering and which are those which ameliorate the same?
Being out for a long time or sitting for a long time aggravates it. When I take sitz baths it feels better.

8. Do your think your sufferings have relation to any external stimuli (like, change of place) or any internal biological changes in the body, like, menses (in females)?

I have had difficulty coping with the reality of life from an early age which resulted in some cases of depression. Even at the age of 7 or 8 I had problems with how people were and how society was. I have smoked weed to cope with it since I was in my teens. I don’t have any particular problems, I have a good family, friends and live comfortable lifestyle without working. My lack of acceptance of realities of life stems from a broader perspective of the way things are rather than minor details of relationships. These issues may relate to my sufferings. I can’t think of any internal biological changes in the body that is related.

9. When do you feel better, during hot weather or cold weather, humid or dry weather?

Personally, I like to be in hot weather but because of my abscess, sometimes there is more discharge or it is more uncomfortable.

I think dry weather.

10. Describe your general mental set up? Are you Moody, Arrogant, Mild, Agreeable Changeable, Nervous, Suspicious, Easily offended, Quiet, Arguing, Irritating, Lazy etc.

Generally calm, but can become irritable fast. I have been lazy since the surgeries, not as active as I would like to be. I’m generally quiet but often irritated. I am also emotional.

- How do you feel before or during a thunderstorm?
Doesn’t affect me.

- Do you like being consoled during your tough times?
Only by my girlfriend.

- Are you sensitive to external stimuli like smell, noise, light etc? Somewhat, not severely. Smell maybe more than others, for example, bad odour irritates me.

- Do you have any typical habit or gesture like nail biting, causeless
weeping, talking to one self etc? Touch my face or pick at my hair when I’m bored. It’s minor though.

- How do you feel about your friends, family, your children and especially your husband / wife?
I generally have a good relationship with my family, there are some ups and downs, nothing out of the ordinary. I have a good relationship with my girlfriend that I highly value. I don’t have many close friends that I see having in my life long-term, partially because I’ve gone through a lot of changes such as becoming a better person and being more spiritual. I feel like I have people around me that I like, but I don’t have anyone around me that I feel so compatible too. Maybe due to my inactivity, for example, I’m not working I haven’t met many people. Most of my friends are from my highschool years. No children.

11. What are your fears and do you dream of any situation repeatedly?

I fear rejection, I don’t like failing so a lot of times I don’t try. I care about what I think about myself and what others think of me more than I probably should. I fear for the health of my loved ones and myself, and generally I fear for the direction the world is going into.

12. What do you crave for in food items and what are your aversions?

I don’t generally crave sugar, like most people. I like most things fried, meat (steaks) potatoes and seafood.

I don’t think I have aversions.

13. How is your thirst: Less, Normal or Excessive? Normal (maybe 4,5 glasses of water a day)

14. How if your hunger: Less, Normal or Excessive? Generally normal, at times excessive when I am exercising but I think that is normal to. During times of health problems, I barely feel hunger.

15. Is there any kind of food which your body can’t stand? The skin from a peach.

16. Is your sweat normal or less or more? Where does it sweat more: Head, Trunk or Limbs? Normal, underarms

17. How is your bowel movement and stool type? Pretty regular, once a day. Not too hard, not too soft.

18. How well do you sleep? Do you have a particular posture of sleeping?
I sleep generally well, usually on my side or stomach. When I don’t smoke weed, I can sleep, but it becomes very light.

19. Do you think you are able to satisfy your sexual desires in general? Generally, I’m satisfied but it is very difficult for me to reach orgasm through intercourse.

20. How do you think you are different from others, if at all? I think I see the world from a different perspective from most other people. More analytical and critical that others. I’m a very sensitive and compassionate person and it hurts me to see a shortage of that in society. I think others notice these problems in society also but they are probably not affected to the same degree as I am.

21. What medications have been taken earlier by you to treat the diseases and do you have any particular symptom surfacing after the medication? For many years I have been taking APO-CECEPHALEX 500MG times a day, whenever I had flare-ups for approximately 10 times in the past 10 years. The last time I had a flare-up which was this past week, I was prescribed CLINDAMYCIN, 300mg 3 times a day. The main thing I have noticed from taking these antibiotics is weakness, and the latest antibiotic caused diarrhea.

22. What major diseases are running in your family? Mom’s side, grandfather passes away from heart attack, grandmother suffering from Alzheimer’s disease.

23. Describe, how do you look like? Describe your overall appearance.
I am 5’9 or 5’10, weigh 160-170lb depending on how healthy I am. Right now probably 160lb. Muscular, athletic body shape. I’m lean.

Dear Dr. Mahfooz,

Your point is noted. But if you refer to the first post by hrs (who shares ip with this poster and is the patient himself), you will see that he has undergone major operations in the past. So i wanted to start with a remedy that will heal up other aspects first and will also help the real problem. Similarly as his other problem is that he smokes weeds, i have used cannabis indica as the main remedy. Myristica and silicea will be used later.

Rgds.

Dr. Kadwa is correct, hrs is the the same patient, i entered in all the posts under dpanedur and hrs with the patient himself. He has undergone two major surgeries, I consider them major because he had a large part of flesh cut out. He is actively trying to stop weed, he used to smoke during the day as well as in evenings and is now mostly smoking only in the evenings and less of an amount. What does cannibis indica 200c do? Help him stop?

What do you think the real problem is?

We are in Toronto, Canada, should I just get cannabis indica 200c and Calendula 30c for now or should I also order the other things like myristica 200c and silicia? I might have to purchase these online since I don't know where I can get them in toronto? Any ideas?

Thank-you so much for your help, this means the world to us!

dpanedur last decade
I checked online and cannabis Indica 200c is not currently available online and all i see is calendula officinalis, is this what you are asking me to purchase (it's a cream that you apply externally)?

Thank-you.

dpanedur last decade
You may procure the following remedies for current and future use
calendula 30c
calendula 200c
silicea 6c
silicea 200c
myristica 200c
calc sulph 6x
silicea 6x
Cannabis Indica

These are not ointments. These are the remedies that you are supposed to take internally. They should be available as pills or dilutions.
It seems from the left-top side of this screen that Cannabis Indica can be procured from this website.

kadwa last decade
I checked again, and although it has cannabis indica located on the left-top side of this screen, when you click into it, it says it is not available? Should I wait to order everything until when it is available?

Also, do you mean Calcarea Sulphurica when you say Calc sulph 6x, because there is not 6x potency option.

Thanks again!

dpanedur last decade
I checked the calc sulph 6x and i can get this potency as a dilution. So I guess i can get this instead of the pills.

But still not sure what to do about the cannabis indica.

dpanedur last decade
I checked the calc sulph 6x and i can get this potency as a dilution. So I guess i can get this instead of the pills.
**Fine. You can get the dilution.

If you can't get Cannabis Indica, you should procure Belladonna 200.

The treatment plan will be

day 1
Please take three doses of Belladonna 200c at a gap of 4 hours

One dose means
If the medicine is in pills form 4 pills. Don't touch pills with hand. Use cap of bottle to take pills.
If the medicine is in liquid dilution form, 3-4 drops in some 20 ml water. Sip up slowly.

day 2 to day 7

I will try to get cannabis indica from a local store tomorrow and follow your original treatment plan, if I can't I will order belladonna 200c as you suggested and follow the most recent plan. We most likely will receive the medication in a week or so which brings us to 1st week of Feb. We have plans to go on a 3-day vacation on Feb 17, 18 and 19. Do you think we should start the treatment before we go or when we get back. I don't want him to be in too much discomfort when we go away. Will these inital meds cause side effects of pain? Thank-you so much for your help. Once we start the program we will report in 7 days.

We have some hope now that this will work for him. Thank-you

dpanedur last decade
We were able to get cannabis indica, although it was very hard. So, he will be starting treatment today. The doctor from where we bought it from says it is very strong and he should only take one dose for one day. Although I only briefly told her his situation. He is still planning to take the dose you prescribed. She said to expect side effects. Any thoughts on this? Should we still go ahead with the 3 doses for day 1 and what can he expect to feel?

Thanks, after this I will report back in 7 days.

dpanedur last decade
Set of three doses for one day works as one dose only.

kadwa last decade
Hi Dr. Kadwa,

My boyfriend has taken the dose of cannabis indica and been taking the calendula 30c daily. He is on day 5. The first day he had a very minor tingly feeling in his fingertips, but this went away quickly. He has also been having pain in his hips (or nerves or as we described above) on and off for the past month, but he doesn't feel any pain for the past couple of days. We don't know if this is because of the medication or just because it is not bothering him at this time.

He has stopped smoking weed completely and says he doesn't feel the way he normally did when he stopped smoking. He feels more positive and less agitated. He also says there is slightly less discomfort when sitting. I have definitely noticed a change in his mood, he is pleasant and more loving and realizing that he needs to be more productive than he has been in the past.

We wanted to know what the next medication will be so we can get them tomorrow or Sunday before he needs to start the new meds on Monday.

We both want to thank-you for taking the time to help us.

dpanedur last decade
As the remedy has worked, it is very important to see that you manage the case properly. Our main remedy as i have said earlier is Cannabis Indica. It will work on his mind and help him live a healthy and addiction-free life. He should not take another dose of Cannabis Indica as long as he finds that mentally he is feeling better. Your support and his will power are more important than the healing power of the remedy !! In case he feels that his mind is losing the calm that he experienced after taking the remedy, he should take three doses of cannabis Indica 200c at a gap of 4 hours for only one day as he has done earlier. It is better not to repeat cannabis Indica within 10 days. The most important thing is that the remedy should not be repeated if the improvement holds at the mental plane.
Now coming to his pilonidal abscess, he should take 4 pellets of Calcarea Sulph 6x thrice a day at a gap of 4 hours for 7 days starting with monday and report back the outcome after 7 days.

kadwa last decade
Okay, we will do as you suggest. I really wish I had found this website a long time ago, although he may not have been ready at that time, I know that he is ready now and this in combination with the homeopathic medicine is really helping. Thank-you!

Should I be looking for any changes with his pilonidal abscess, it's kind of hard to see because of it's location, do you suggest I cut the hair around it so it's easier for me to see what the changes are or just leave it as is. Some doctor's say it's better to cut/shave/laser the hair and other's say to let it grow naturally.

dpanedur last decade
Hair around the pilonidal abscess should be removed without hurting the abscess. That should give a clear picture of how the remedy is working.

kadwa last decade
It is day 5 of him taking the Calc Sulph. Nothing much has happened, today he has had some pain in his hip but now it is the opposite side of where he usually has it. It is not severe though. No increase in discharge or anything for the pilonidal abscess. What does he need to take for his third week, starting Monday?

dpanedur last decade
He should take calc sulph 6x for another week as he has taken earlier. Please report after one week.

kadwa last decade
Hi again,

So he has taken calc sulph 6x for another week. We were expecting much more discharge or pus to come out from what we read about what calc sulph does, but this didn't happen. Maybe this is because the last recent antibiotics he took killed the infection? When I looked at it the wound it is still open like it was before it just looks much healthier, not much redness, no swelling. He says he has a little less discomfort and a little less discharge.

What should he take this week? Should he be applying calendula cream (30c or 200c) externally to the area while he is taking oral medicine? He hasn't been doing this up until this point.

dpanedur last decade
Let us have another week of calc sulph 6x. There is no need to apply anything externally.

kadwa last decade
In general, the discharge is the same as last week, not much. It seems like he is responding well to it, it's less red, less irritated, and the tissue looks like it's healing a bit from the top and bottom part of the wound. What does he take for next week?

Thank-you for all your help!
