This is just a forum. Assume posts are not from medical professionals.
Fear causes panic attacks. I suggest you get off the sertaline as soon as possible. Allopathic anti-depressants are all over the forum saying people are trying to get off them and suffering a lot. If you have panic attacks now, think how this would be.

The fact you have panic attacks is not sufficient to suggest a remedy. We need to know you as a person. Talk about yourself at length. Write about yourself until you are embarrassed.

When did this begin? What happened in your life. Why are you afraid of everything? Talk to us.

Blessings, Sabra

If you experience any of the following serious side effects, stop taking Zoloft and contact your doctor immediately or seek emergency medical treatment: an allergic reaction (difficulty breathing; closing of the throat; swelling of the lips, tongue, or face; or hives); an irregular heartbeat or pulse; low blood pressure (dizziness, weakness); high blood pressure (severe headache, blurred vision); or chills or fever.

If you experience any of the following less serious side effects, continue taking Zoloft and talk to your doctor: headache; tremor, nervousness, or anxiety; nausea, diarrhea, dry mouth, or changes in appetite or weight; sleepiness or insomnia; or decreased sex drive, impotence, or difficulty having an orgasm. Side effects other than those listed here may also occur. Talk to your doctor about any side effect that seems unusual or that is especially bothersome.

Behavioral techniques often discussed in association with the treatment of panic disorder include deep breathing and relaxation, development of a systematic desensitization program, prolonged and carefully monitored exposure to negatively perceived stimuli, adaptive modeling, and contingency management. These techniques seek to change the way the child acts and reduce avoidance and the subjective experience of anxiety. Complementary cognitive techniques include developing a fear hierarchy, learning to identify and monitor feelings and bodily sensations, making accurate interpretations of situations and bodily sensations, and improving problem-solving skills.

Consultation with a child psychologist, psychiatrist, or behavioral-developmental pediatrician is important for the evaluation and treatment of this disorder.

try phosphorous 200c - take for one day only (one dose morning, one dose around noon and one dose evening). One 'dose' = one tablet/pillule. if this helps and the effect wears off you may need to take it for another day - only do this if it has definitely helped you in the first instance and if the effect of the first day's remedy has definitely worn off. Do not repeat indefinitely - come back for more advice before you repeat again after this.

Another remedy that may help is Aconite 30c. This should prevent the panic attacks and can be taken twice daily for a week.

All Homeopathic remedies should be placed under the tongue for maximum effect.

Do not use any stimulants like coffee, tea, cola drinks as they will be counterproductive and some may antidote the remedy.

Hey, I feel for you and I have been there as well as been on the narky drugs too with horrible reactions. My panic got me far from home when I was working in Asia. Getting back to my family was pure hell.
Firstly, there will be no heart attack. You know that, you've been told it by a medical professional. Actually you are afraid of another panic attack which is 'fear of the fear' which spirals out of control and elevates to panic.

The drugs will do no more than manage symptoms and often they return with a vengence after cessation. The drug path may be necessary to keep you afloat awhile, but look deeper. Anxiety/panic comes from suppressed emotions but also from clinical illnesses too. A lot of my issues are gut related and 1 year on I found a parasite.

There is an abundance of info online regarding panic to get you started. Your description makes it sound like emotional issues which may be best resolved with CBT or other talk therapies but find a therapist that you like!!! The wrong psychologist can make you worse and a psychiatrist can have you on a drug regime in no time. My opinion is there are a lot of idiots out there to take your money, they also get big kickbacks from their contribution to the $USD20billion a year antidepressant racket. Choose wisely, the CBT will be a good start for you to manage the panic sensibly so you gain the strength to go deeper into the cause.

I am going to be a little controversial and disagree that talk therapy is the only way to go. It took me 7 months to throw the antidepressants back in the doctor's face and then I realised that many of my problems were related to life long IBS like gut symptoms that my doctor was not even prepared to look at. I got a new 'complementary' doctor who is amazing. He is a proper doctor but specialises in nutritional medicine and I have made leaps and bounds with not a drug in sight.

Why? Well, traditional medicine does not consider it often, but a dysfunctional digestive system will cause a lot of psychiatric symptoms. I had a severe parasite infection and a rather damaged gut. If the engine cannot get fuel from the tank, then you have a problem running your motor.

But in the short term, try some remedies but get a bloody good homeopath. Explore the issues that may have led you to this, particularly what you mentioned about your parents as parents so often destroy you while only trying to do the best for you they can. Talk through this stuff with someone you trust and like.
Do CBT to learn about the panic disorder and manage it. Get it under control as it will not just go by itself.
Investigate any other medical symptoms with pathology testing and a open minded doctor to ensure this option is covered.
You can also try kinesiology, hypnotherapy and a lot of other alternates.

And by all means reply to this message! I've been there, I know your hell and I will answer you. Remember, you are not going to die and that a huge percentage of the population deals with excessive anxiety. Use the internet to find others to talk to but don't allow it to make you crazy and think you have every illness under the sun. You will come out of this but remember to always talk to anyone if you are feeling depressed. Do not feel ashamed to seek help as you need it. There is more good (ans suffering experienced)in others than you may believe.

all the best ....L.

Aconite is a good suggestion, but suggest you take it in solution. (1 pill in about 4 ozs. water; dissolve, shake bottle before every dose.) Also get Rescue Remedy - take as frequently as the panic hits. - it will not interfere with the Aco.

Hey there,
You can look in my profile for my email and by all means get in touch.
The behavioural therapy should teach you the physiological action behind your anxiety. The reason for tingles is your body's fight/flight response directing the blood to the core areas needed in a hurry. This is what scares most anxiety sufferers and often gives the weak legs and fainting sensation inducing a sense of 'i'm going to collapse'. You will start to fear the feeling or fear the fear as it is often known

On the tests, what were they? Standard tests ordered by most MDs may well find nothing but they may not be looking or prepared to look in the right place. Anxiety states will cause digestive stress but digestive stress can also cause anxiety states. Once the gut is stressed it may not absorb or protect itself properly, the end result can allow pathogens to potentially get a good foot hold and see your whole body challenged by the lack of absorbed nutrients and a subsequent immune response to the foreign proteins that cross the inflamed gut to the bloodstream.

When my anxiety kicked in I was in a bad way emotionally too but I had being going downhill since a bad food poisoning incident. It can be a long journey out but you need to be patient with yourself and think beyond the square as you will make it. You also need the right people on your side. You may find many doctors are unprepared to do more than prescribe drugs or therapy. Refusing to view your illness wholistically may see you need to look for better medical help. A wholistic approach is the way to go and it is disconcerting that our medical system fails to look beyond presenting symptoms. Email me and I can get help you along. I am not a health practitioner but the difference between me and them is I have been there and they have read their text books.

Anxiety can be quite scary and in some cases
medication is a good solution, but
I find the ease with which doctors write prescriptions rather
disturbing. Anxiety is a very common
mental health issue, and one that can be worked through. Sometimes it's
best to figure things out
for yourself. I personally used a program at SelfTherapy dot org which I
though was terrific - it
literally ended my anxiety and panic attacks within days. Perhaps your
solution lies elsewhere.
But I urge you to not be too quick to pop pills that will numb your
desire to find a real
solution. I wish you the best!

Hi there... I honestly feel for you and what you are going through each time you sit in church. I too am a panic attack sufferer who went through a full blown attack in church and believe me it is not a good place to have it. I have experienced my attacks for 9 years....I have not taken any drugs...oh hang on I lied I took St Johns Worts but that did'nt help me and then I took something called Batch Flowers.... all different types it takes away the feeling of anticipation or agitation, nervousness that type of thing. I have not been on any medication whatsoever apart from what I have explained. Sometimes we go through life where we are not happy with what we have chosen and thats where our panic attacks come in. For example when I'm stressed highly stressed I get them bad... its how I choose to react to them is what helped me to maintain them so it gives me time to change what I need too in my life to make me happy. I know that this maybe silly but Toni Robbins helps as well with his motivational c.d's listen to them and they will help you heaps...well its has me and for a person like myself to go without medication and handle it in its truess form well that says alot. I still go to church but sit at the door or closes to it... I still get the symptoms but I breathe through it and remind myself why I'm here and that nothing will hurt me.... so try that should you have one in church again and if you want to email me please do so ....you will get through this and you will get your life back again......God Bless
