The ABC Homeopathy Forum

need help with asthma

Hello, I am hoping someone can guide me in trying a homeopathic remedy for asthma. I've had allergies all my life, but the asthma began about 4 years ago. I am a 42 year old female. My asthma attacks are not severe, but they are frequent, triggered by dust, smoke, animal dander, and strong fragrances. My MD said that my lungs are so irritated that many things are now irritating to them and I need to be on inhaled coriticosetroids to give my lungs a chance to heal. I took these for a while and my condition improved, then the inhaler I was taking stopped being available and when I was switched to a new medicine my condition worsened again. Right now I'm trying to go without because the long-term side effects worry me. I am a nursing mother and don't want steroids in my milk supply if I can help it. The asthma is made worse usually at night, lying down, and from eating foods with sulfites. Again, it's not bad, just frequent. It feels like someone has laid bricks on my chest or that my chest is being cinched by a belt. I don't really wheeze but it's harder to breathe.

I don't have skin problems except for some mild milia on my face which I've had since adolescence. My allergies have improved as the asthma worsened, which made me think homeopathy might be the way to go here.

If anyone with experience in classical homeopathy can make some suggestions, I'd be very grateful. There aren't any homeopaths in my area that I can find. Thank you so much.

This is just a forum. Assume posts are not from medical professionals.
I notice that you wish to be treated by a classical homeopath and since I am not one I shall not attempt to do so. I have specialized in a branch of Homeopathy which these classical homeopaths have labelled 'Joepathy' and if you would like to type this word into Google you can read some of the choice cases that I have treated successfully.

I may mention here that a number of cases of Asthma I have treated have also been listed under this heading and many have been cured permanently.

I shall let the classical homeopaths to treat you and observe their results from the sidelines.

Please copy the Questionnaire from the following thread

Thank you! Here is the questionnaire. I appreciate your time.

1. Describe your main suffering? Asthma

2.What other physical sufferings do you have in your body?
I have hypothyroidism, though since treatment with levothyroxine it doesn't bother me. Some back and kneee pain, but nothing excessive, mostly brought on by too much lifting at times. I have suffered from allergies in the past but except for dust, they aren't too bad now.

3.What mental sufferings / feelings do you have associated with your physical sufferings?
I have suffered off and on from depression and anxiety in my life, though neither condition is prominent at the moment. Lately I have felt angry and frustrated more than usual, with my spouse and daughter. Less patient than usual. For the past several years I have had no sex drive. This saddens me.

4.What exactly do you feel when you are at your worst?
Angry, depressed, unable to know what course of action to take, desire to act, aversive, not grounded..

5.When did it all start? Can you connect it to any past event or disease?
Asthma started severely when I was 7 months pregnant (three years ago). I noticed allergies improved while I was pregnant. Postpartum asthma is less severe but more frequent.

6. Which time of the day you are worst? After 9 pm—most tired. Asthma is worst when triggered by stimuli, see below

7.What are the things which aggravate your suffering and which are those which ameliorate the same?
Smoke, household cleaners that spray or have strong scent, dust, chemical fragrances. Asthma ameliorated by –?
Emotionally I am made better by talking, worse by stewing in silence.
I like steam—hot bath, steam room. Better from mild exercise, being outside in temperate weather. Worse from cold, worse from over exertion.

8. Do your think your sufferings have relation to any external stimuli (like, change of place) or any internal biological changes in the body, like, menses (in females)?

I do get pms, but lately I feel like I have pms all the time.

9. When do you feel better, during hot weather or cold weather, humid or dry weather?
Hot weather, humid weather, though not excessively so.

10.Describe your general mental set up? Are you Moody, Arrogant, Mild, Agreeable Changeable, Nervous, Suspicious, Easily offended, Quiet, Arguing, Irritating, Lazy etc.

Easily offended, thoughtful, verbal, introspective, moody, depressive, given to ruminating.

- How do you feel before or during a thunderstorm?
Fine.

Do you like being consoled during your tough times?
Yes, though sometimes I initially resist it.

- Are you sensitive to external stimuli like smell, noise, light etc?
Sensitive to smell as it relates to triggering asthma, don't like a lot of noise.

- Do you have any typical habit or gesture like nail biting, causeless
weeping, talking to one self etc? Picking at ears, which chronically feel clogged

How do you feel about your friends, family, your children and especially your husband / wife?
Daughter—lovely (2 year old), hard work but so worth it.
spouse—this isn't a great time in our marriage. I want more help with housework and more emotional connection than I'm getting. I feel he's removed somewhat.

11. What are your fears and do you dream of any situation repeatedly?

That something will happen to my daughter, that we'll get divorced (not too likely, though of course anything is possible)

12. What do you crave for in food items and what are your aversions?
chocolate, meat, bread, hot cocoa, wine. No real aversions

13. How is your thirst: Less, Normal or Excessive? I'd say on the excessive side.

14. How if your hunger: Less, Normal or Excessive? On the excessive side, though I'm not overweight.

15. Is there any kind of food which your body can’t stand? I have an intolerance to all soy products.

16. Is your sweat normal or less or more? Where does it sweat more: Head, Trunk or Limbs? Normal. Sweatiest under arms, not really anywhere else.

17. How is your bowel movement and stool type?
Sluggish bowel, but generally neither soft nor hard stools.

18. How well do you sleep? Do you have a particular posture of sleeping? I sleep okay, usually wake once to pee. Sleep on either side, not back or stomach.

19.Do you think you are able to satisfy your sexual desires in general?

I've had almost no sex drive for the past 5 years. It makes me sad.

20. How do you think you are different from others, if at all?
More verbal and creative than most people, prone to trying to figure out others' motives, sometimes with great accuracy, sometimes quite off base. I”m extremely tall.

21.What medications have been taken earlier by you to treat the diseases and do you have any particular symptom surfacing after the medication?
Acyclovir for herpes on mouth and sometimes nose—chronic problem since I was small with many outbreaks made worse by stress, excessive sun, and at the end of an illness. Levothyroxine for hypothyroidism for the past 4 years. Fluticasone and albuterol for asthma. I don't notice any side effects.

22. What major diseases are running in your family?
Mother has leukemia—CML.

23.Describe, how do you look like? Describe your overall appearance
Very tall, fair Caucasian with blue eyes, slim though with a little padding around the middle, (I'm 42 and have had a baby). Brown hair.

24. (ONLY FOR FEMALES)

If you are not having normal menstrual cycles, please answer the following questions:

Are the periods early, regular or late in general? How long do they last?
they used to be regular, but as I am still nursing, my periods are not entirely regular again yet (this is normal for nursing mothers). Last about 6 days.
- Do you suffer from any kind of physical or mental discomfort before, during or after the periods? PMS before, light cramps during. PMS worse since my period returned after baby was born.
- Is the flow scanty, normal or excessive? Normal
- Is the blood thick bright red or pale watery? Bright red first days, brownish at the end of my cycle.
- Do you notice any clots in the flow? Occasionally a few small ones.

Please take Sepia 200c thrice a day at a gap of 4 hours for only one day (not daily) and report back after 15 days.

One dose means
If the medicine is in pills form 4 pills. Don't touch pills with hand. Use cap of bottle to take pills.
If the medicine is in liquid dilution form, 3-4 drops in some 20 ml water. Sip up slowly.

Please follow homeo restrictions like no coffee, no raw onion/garlic, no strong perfumes, don't eat or drink anything within 30 minutes before or after taking medicine.

Thank you for your remedy suggestion! I have taken the first 2 doses and will report back in 15 days. When you say no coffee, etc, do you mean for the day that I take the remedy, or for the entire 15 days?

Thanks again for your help. It's much appreciated.

Hi Kadwa,
I'm happy to report back that my asthma is significantly better. I'd say 60--70 % better. I am grateful for your assistance.

I should mention that I stopped taking all steriods at the same time I started the remedy. That may have contributed to my experience, not sure. Anyhow, Here's what happened: After I took the remedy, the following day was awful; I felt like my lungs were raw and tight and very uncomfortable. The next two days were great, and since then symptoms have generally been milder, also mood has been generally better. I notice that wine sets off asthma still (sulfites, probably) and some strong smells like cleaning products, but again, in general I have been feeling better. should I repeat dose, or do something else? Also if you have a way of receiving payment I would like to make a donation to you to thank you for your help.

Now you should repeat the remedy in the earlier manner only when there is worsening of your symptoms on sustained basis. If there is no such worsening of symptoms the remedy should not be repeated.
