Teething and restless sleep
Hi,My daughter is now nearly 14 months old and has 8 teeth - 4 upper and 4 lower front. She's teething again and salivating like crazy. She has also started sticking her hand into her mouth I presume because her gums are aching. I accidentally bumped against her mouth the other day and she cried out in pain. It wasn't a hard bump or even cause any redness but it did hurt her. She's also been very very restless during sleep. Daytime naps are fine but she has been waking up between 2 and 3 am every night for the past 2 weeks. She would toss and turn and even sit up and want to play for about an hour or two and then just as quickly, she would go back to sleep. I have tried chamomilla but is not helping. She's also been given calc phos 30c weekly to help with teething and recently because my husband had a bad cough, we gave her some aconite and ferrum phos but nothing has affected her sleeping patterns. Please help.

If you have some IPECACUANHA 30C, give one dose after the lunch hour and see how she does. If she responds, you could give once a day for 3 doses. Then give ONLY if needed.

Thanks for that. I have ipecac 6c only, will that help? Sorry about questions but I am learning as I go along; how is ipecac indicated? I researched and came close to mercurius but never thought of ipecac. cheers.

Yes, I sometimes wonder why I choose these remedies. Must be some long ago remark my mind remembers. A higher potency is called for. I do not know if 6c will do it. But try it anyway.

Hi Sabra,
While waiting for your reply, I continued giving her Calc Phos 6c once a night before bedtime. Her sleep is still restless but she hasn't woken up in the middle of the night. I shall try ipecac 6c tonight.

Hi Sabra,
Gave daughter ipecac 6c but no difference in sleep patterns. She goes to bed about 8.30-9pm and still wakes up crying at about 1.30-4 am. Tosses around a lot in bed throughout - very restless sleep. Wakes up punctually between 6.35 am - 6.50am. Help!

Hi, I am sorry, I was so sure. I see that FERRUM PHOS fits these symptoms pretty well. If you have some, give a dose in the evening, maybe several times if needed. Higher potency if you can. 1M. This remedy has a lot of mouth discomfort and sleep difficulty.

Thanks for replying. Gave her ferrum phos in 6c previous because of husband's cough but it didn't work with her sleeping. Should I go higher in potency? Will 1M be too strong for a wee little one?

Not too strong. In homeopathy it is not actually the kind of "strong" we think of in our lives. It is "called" stronger, but it actually "acts" different when different potencies are given.
As her mother, say this: "this remedy matches the needs of this body for immediate healing now." So take your 6C and try this.
I have done this for years when I didn't have the potency I wanted. One just cannot have every potency. We would have closets full of bottles.
