I am in trouble
From last five days i found my left foot is swollen,I consult a Dr,he has given me medicines.But i got faliria positive in report & Dr has given some more medicines.so will it become serious.pls suggest me.santanukumar on 2010-04-10

If you have been diagnosed with Filaria and your ankle is swollen your doctor would have given you Hetrazan or Banocide after a blood test. This drug will eradicate the parasite and is the remedy. Dose 2 tablets taken thrice daily for a month.
There is nothing to to worried about if you take the course of tablets as prescribed by your doctor as otherwise you risk getting a serious condition commonly known as Elephantitis which is very difficult to cure as it affects the lymph glands among other organs.
It is perfectly safe to be used and you must take the whole course which is at least a month to ensure that the micro worm parasite is killed with the larvae.
