Advice on foods to avoid during pregnancy

Dear All,

I just wanted to know if there are any foods that one must avoid during early conception and pregnancy. In addition, any other home advice/ tips would be useful.

Regards

hey congrats...
here are few tips for u...

1)avoid uncooked eggs or foods that may contain raw eggs and unpasteurized milk.unwashed vegetables. this is to avoid contamination by bacterias.

2)avoid certain fish which contains mercury. eg: shark, swordfish, mackerel. you can take plenty of other fishes and shrimp.

3)avoid caffeine containing drinks like coffee, coke. also no green tea and alcohol containing drinks.

4)you might have morning sickness for few weeks....hence eat in little quantity but frequently. drink plenty and plenty of water, fresh juices esp pomegranate, oranges etc.
also eat iron rich foods like green leaves, dates. make sure u drink at least 2 glasses of milk a day.

5) if you have already started taking iron supplements , make sure u take it with a glass of orange juice because vitamin C helps in more iron absorption.

6)sleep well. rest is important.

7)avoid lifting heavy weights and strainful climbing.

8)make sure u take more fibre rich diet.....like vegetable, whole grain bread, fruits

as a whole....be happy...listen to music...be relaxed and enjoy your pregnancy. take care
