Eye infection- pink eye

My kids had an eye infection ( viral conjuctivitis?) for 10 days each and unfortunately I got it too.
I'm 36 weeks pregnant. I've been using eye drops for the past 2 days without seeing any improvement.
My right eye is infected for the now. It is red especially in the inner corner. In the morning the lids are stuck together, they are watery and sometimes have thicker yellowish or white stringy discharge. Not much pain or irritation. Basically everytime I wake, even if it is after a nap during the day, they are worse and the discharge makes them stick.
I would appreciate if someone could recommend a remedy, as I am not keen on using the drops, with all the chemicals for a lot of days.

This is just a forum. Assume posts are not from medical professionals.
I forgot to add: it is slightly swollen and appears more closed than the other eye. When I say not much irritation I mean that I don't have the urge to itch it. The white part is red starting from inner corner and moving outwards.
Thanks.

You may use Euphrasia Eyedrops. You may also use Euphrasia 30c thrice a day for few days internally. You may also use lower potency like 6x if it is available.

I haven't seen an improvement yet. As a matter of fact it's worse and it looks like the left eye may be a little infected too. I was able to get my hands on the 30c potency. Drops aren't available in my country. I've taken 3 doses. One last night and 2 today.
Pls advise.

Thank you for the reply.
Unfortunately I won't be able to get my hands on another remedy until Monday evening- 2 days from now. I used the Remedy Finder and Kali Bich was the remedy that fit most of my symptoms. Do you agree with this? I am asking because I have at home 2 pills 30ch and 2 pills 200ch. Do you recommend using any of these potencies and how?

You may take 3 doses of kali bich 200 as a follows....
day 1 morning
day 1 evening
day 2 morning
and see whether it helps.

Dr Kadwa, thank you for you advise throughout this pregnancy. Unfortunately I don't have 3 doses kali bich 200c- only 2. I will be able to get my hans on other remedies tomorrow evening, which leaves a gap. Can I combine in any way the two 30c and the two 200c doses I have at home?
My other eye is infected too. A lot of tears and discharge, besides the redness and slight swelling.

Is there any home made eye wash I could prepare to ease the discomfort and clean the discharge? Euphrasia is not available in drop form here.

I'm waiting for a response. Thank you.

To add to all this, my wisdom tooth filling fell out a few days ago and today a part of the tooth broke off. Fortunately I have no pain ascossiated with it. I will be visiting a dentist tomorrow. Will getting a filling, or a temporary one as he suggested for now, due to my pregnancy, effect the homeopathy treatment?? I can't believe i have these problems simultaneously!!!

You may take only two kali bich 200 doses. Actually Euphrasia should have worked but you know it is homeopathy and the seemingly indicated remedy also fails.

Some homeopaths are very much against fillings. They are of the opinion that homoepathic remedy won't work due to fillings. But in your case you know that the remedies work inspite of fillings.

I haven't seen any improvement, at least not yet. At some point both eyes felt better, even though they looked really bad, they didn't feel as swollen.
Should I purchase another remedy to keep on hand?
A correction: according to the ophthamologist, it's probably a bacterial infection and not viral as I mention.

Update: eyelid is swollen again.

Please read the MM for the following remedies (unique features of the remedies are also given which may help in remedy selection)...
Kali Carb - irritability of mind
Arsenicum Album - prefers local warmth (eye symptoms) and the person as a whole prefers warmth
Apis - person as a whole prefers cool surroundings
Rhus Tox - pain in extremeties

All these remedies have swelling of eyelids.

My homeopath insists on taking pulsatilla 1M!! I told him of my concerns about it inducing labour and he said that it does only if there is a problem i.e weak contractions, overdue, etc. I'm 36 weeks pregnant now. What do you think? I'm pretty confident that puls will help, as it always does, but I'm scared. My eyes are still really bad, red, tearing, stinging and swollen. No improvement, maybe even worse.
He said that if I was that worried I could take a 200c dose, but improvement will be slower.

i think Apis 200 should work. You may take some 4 doses over 2 days. If it doesn't work, you may take Pulsatilla 1M as advised by your homeopath.

I took the first dose yesterday evening and the second dose this morning, just before a while. From last night there was a a change in the discharge. From watery it became a little thicker and stickier. This morning on waking eyes where stuck together and the right eye, which is worse, is so swollen internanly, as though the white part, on the outer corner is swollen. Eyes are still totally red.
I only hope that as they say in homeopathy, it will get worse before it gets better and that apis is doing the job. It's been a week now.

Can antibiotic eye drops (tobrex) be used at the same time? Or will they cancel the power of the remedy? (I'm pretty sure the answer is NO, but thought I'd ask just in case. I could use the extra help!)

I have taken 3 doses and no improvement. I'm very disappointed. Tomorrow I'll probably go to the dr to see how bad it is. I'm afraid to take the puls and probably won't.

Rania there's no harm in trying out a remedy Argentum nitricum 30c a few doses for your conjunctivitis.

Your fears about pulsatilla are not true. Most of the cautionary guidelines for pulsatilla are given for herbal medicine and not homeopathic remedy. Pulsatilla is a wonderful remedy useful during pregnancy. You could have trusted your doctor who's in the knowledge of your constitution and is able to see you face to face on the matter of pulsatilla.

There's a risk of this infection spreading to the foetus if you leave it unresolved for long.

Thanks for replying. I believe that pulsatilla would have helped, but there are so many contradicting opinions, that I'm very hesitant. This has happened several times throughout the pregnancy, concerning puls.
So you honestly believe that by taking pulsatilla 1M, I won't be inducing labour, before it's time.

Rania

Herbal pulsatilla and homeopathically potentised pulsatilla have different therapeutic actions. If homeopathic pulsatilla is indicated, it's a wonderful remedy during pregnancy and can help in many complaints.

In your case, since your doctor has been treating you for long knowing your case well, he must have had his reasons to suggest pulsatilla.

'he said that it does only if there is a problem i.e weak contractions, overdue, etc. ' Your doctor is right. With 37 weeks, you're close to due date any way. But remember one thing, baby has a timetable of its own that is much wiser than you or your doctor's determination of your due date. So if it's not time yet, your baby won't just come out yet. Relax and enjoy the moments when they last, instead of getting into dilemmas of conflicting opinions.

I do not know if you have already tried arg. nit. If it has not helped, then your options are Pulsatilla, sulphur in that order. Use 30c or 200c, i would not go for 1M in physical complaints. If 30c take the doses 6 hours apart and if the doses are 200c take them 12 hours apart.

Thank you. How many doses do you suggest for the arg. nit. 200c? I will give it a try as it fits most symptoms, before I go to pulsatilla.

Rania, one would see positive impact within 3 doses for such acute problems. If it does not show any bit of improvement beyond 3 or 4 doses then you shall move on to pulsatilla.

If it shows improvement, take between 3 to 6 doses depending upon how much of the problem is left after every dose. For example, if the first dose itself shows substantial improvement, you will only need one or 2 doses more, less frequently, otherwise you can take upto 6 doses.

I have seen an improvement.I have taken 3 doses and will take 1 or 2 more. Vision is a little blurry and is what bothers me the most right now. Redness and swelling have started to subside significantly.
Thanks for the help!!

rania1403 last decade
Good that you have significant improvement in redness and swelling. Blurry vision---is this new problem or was a part of old picture?
