Dog phobia - please help!

I am 24 years old, female. Growing up, I was never around animals. I can't take walks around the neighborhood because I'm fearful that there will be dogs. I don't want to visit friends because they have dogs in their houses. Even when I go outside to get my mail, I would always be watching see if there is any dog in sight. If there is, then I would wait till my husband gets home and ask him to get the mail. However, I'm not afraid of them if they're locked up or if I saw them on TV or calendar. I think the reason I am afraid of them is because I feel they are unpreditable and they will run towards me and bite me. I feel scared even when the dogs are just small puppies. Do I have a dog phobia? What can I do?

This is just a forum. Assume posts are not from medical professionals.
It would need a ,more detailed picture - but one of the pointers for Baccilinium/Tuberculinum is the fear of dogs. It is something you share with many people who have this strand in their genetic heritage.
Do not get uptight about it - there is nothing wrong with you.

Joan,

Plenty of people have dog/animal phobias. Please provide more information on your symptoms about this and about you in general so Passkey can help you.

Please remember that just as dogs/animals are unpredictable so are humans. Many are this way because of prior abuse, overbreeding, neglect, etc. But in most dogs you will find loyalty that goes way beyond what humans give.

Another good way to over come this is to find a counselor in your area or psychotherapist who specializes in phobias and can slowly introduce you to dogs. Maybe they will start with a very small, dossile, sweet as pie, dog in another room and gradually bring you closer to the creature, when you choose to do so.

Homeopathy can help as well with this. Take it step by step and challenge yourself to over come this, because you can. There are plenty of dogs out there that are scared of humans, even the kindest humans.

Blessings,
NAMASTE

Thank you for your kind replies! I often saddened by the fact that I feel no one understands the fear I'm feeling. People see a puppy, they think it is so cute. And I can't stand being near it...

I'm not sure what kind of details of the symptoms is relevant. I will try my best.
1. Growing up, I had asthma but it went away when I hit puberty.
2. Ever since I was a little girl, I had a constipation problem. I'm adding lots fibers in my diet to regulate myself and when it gets really bad, I take some medicine for relief.
3. According to my husband, I'm an emotional person and I'm easy to get depressed.
4. When something scary or shocking(like almost getting into an accident) happens, I'm not easy to let that fear go. It always takes me a while to calm down. (I don't scream or yell, just my heart's beating fast)
5. I fear generally all animals. Since there are more dogs around me, I often feel I fear dogs the most. My husband's best friend has a couple ferrets. I always have to mentally prepare myself before going over to their place. They have a fancy theatre room where the ferrets are not allowed in. Everytime I go over there, I would run as fast and quietly as possible to that room downstairs and shut the door. So I think I am generally afraid of all animals.
6. When I was a little girl, maybe 5 or 6 years old, I was bitten by a cat on my finger. I remember my finger almost fell off my hand.

Is this problem with me due to a chemical imbalance or is it more of a psychological problem? I'm thinking about seeing a psychologist... I'm so tired of being scared and watching my back all the time. I wish there is a magic pill I can take and I will be fear free. Thank you for any more advice you can give me!

I think there is enough here to try China Officinalis. Say 3 doses of 30c and see how we go . It may be necessary to go higher.
