Urine retention

Friend of mine is suffering from urine retension. It starts with a pain in the left kidney area and moves to the front covering the abdomin. The urination is painful (buring sensation). Difficulty passing urine, sometimes just few drops will come out. Morning is worse then night. Ultra sound showed no swollen prostate nor stones. There is no blood or frothy urine, but little bit of yellowish discharge, no smell to it.
He is 32 years old, thin built, brown hair and eyes with mild predisposition. Frequently dreams of his family in Europe. When sweats, his head is sweating the most. Doesn't have a preference being outside or inside. Please help!
