You should continue what i ask except Calendula as your Pediatrician may give antiviral medicines along antiviral ointment for closed lesions and antibacterial ointment for open lesions if the diagnosis is clear of herpes simplex.

You should ask about diagnosis.

However, I had seen no great difference if treated with antiviral in my personal experience, but as herpes simplex can cause encephalitis i.e. brain involvement so I leave the decision upon parents.
